I would give this place negative stars if they were available. There was 1 party of 7 sitting in the bar and no one else and when we walked in she took 10 minutes to acknowledge us. We were a party of 5. Asked for 2 beers a red bull and a soda from our table and she finally told us she doesn't take orders that way. So had to get up and walk 10 feet to her so I could order the drinks. Took her 10 minutes and finally got the beers. The other 3 people from our party walked in and couldn't get her to look up from her phone to take another order of beers and there was no one else in the bar. Had to bail out cause we tip very well but she didn't deserve a wooden nickel. What a shame cause it is nice inside but it was not like this when it was the chicken coop. Bar crawlers beware. Like the other reviews I missed the ice cold beer, Good music and when the food was awesome. Now the beer is lukewarm, food is awful. The owners daughter even made it a point to let me know she was the owner,after I asked for a cold beer because the one I received was Luke warm. Came for lunch today. I'm a local and heard it was under new ownership. Thought I would give it a try. The bartender was very nice. She smiled and was friendly. They do not offer a non-alcoholic beer. That is disappointing. With no uber in rural areas one would think bars would offer a non-alcohol beer, since there are so many options now available and some with a real beer taste. I had my shiner bock and my buddy, who was driving, had to be happy with tea in a bar. We ordered the Texas Philly and the Coney Dog. After the order was placed, learned the Coney was not available. He had to change to the brat. It took two beers for the order to come out. Not very fast, although other plates ordered after us did come out before ours. The food was good and the homemade chips were very good. If you like an aroma of stale cigarettes, this is your place. Every table, inside and out have ashtrays and the ventilation system isn't very good. Even with the back door open the smell was over powering. A few exhaust fans and washed out and not just dumped ashtrays can go a long way. I am a Texan and believe we should have a choice. I have no problem with a bar owner running their establishment as they wish. My choice is not to return here unless I intend to light up my cigar indoors. At least cigars smell good in my opinion and reviews are all about opinions. The friendliness of the bartender and the food don't make up for the odor. read more

We started coming here when it was the Chicken Coop. Stopped in on Wednesday 4/17 while on a motorcycle ride. The food was good but disappointed they no longer have the "big" fried mushrooms on the menu. I don't know if it's changed or it was because they had a big group of golfers coming in, there were no waitresses/servers. It also might have been due to it not being a weekend. If I was permitted to give them zero stars, I would. My wife and I used to come in this place when It was called a chicken coop and enjoyed its atmosphere and food Unfortunately, the new owner appears to be using frozen meat for the burgers. The BLT was OK, but at nearly 10.00 each, I expected better food. But, The real problem came when they gave us our bill, we had ordered a BLT and a cheeseburger along with two glasses of water. When they brought us our bill there was a 4.00 charge for two bottles of water. Upon notifying the bartender of the error, she stated it was not an error and they charge two dollars a glass for tapwater. I asked how they could do that when there was no notification either on the menu or from the person taking our order that there would be a charge for tapwater. Her response was that the owner had informed them to charge for tapwater because they are in hard times. If they are cutting corners by charging people for water I hate to see what they're doing in the kitchen. I fully understand, but they may want to charge for a plastic glass and ice, But they should notify the customer in advance and surely not charge the same amount that they would for a bottle of water. I'm also curious to know if you ask for a glass of ice for your drink are they going to charge you an extra $2.00 read more

My husband and I come to Bandera a few times a year and this is one of our favorite places for a cold drink and some good food. Chloe (one of the bartenders) is super knowledgeable about mixing drinks and can make you a dang good shot with a smile! Misty (another bartender) can also mix some good drinks and also gives you service with a smile! Alex (sorry we didn't make it to last call) is one of the hardest workers in town!! Wow! This place was so much fun! The staff were really nice. They keep the building clean and come by and pre bus your table often. The bathroom was really clean. I ordered beef nachos and ended up with a beef quesadilla and chips with queso. I'm not sure if my guy told the waitress the wrong thing or she put in the wrong thing. I try to only write reviews when a place is really horrible or really fantastic and Kickback was REALLY fantastic! On the bartender's recommendation we got the Spinach & Cheese Nachos and they were a-maz-ing. Super crispy chips and tons of vegetables - paired with ice cold beer, they made the perfect game watching snack. They need a few more wait staff and we would have loved frosty mugs, but they earned five stars by their great service and excellent food. We can't wait to go back! read more

AMAZING!! The food, the atmosphere, the company, the music, I mean, does it get better?! One of the best burgers we've ever had and a great steak finger basket. Angela, the owner, was super sweet, patient when we asked questions about the area and just hella cool! We shared a breakfast shot with her and it just blew our minds!
