I cannot recommend this daycare enough. My baby girl is well cared for and happy to go to her 'school' each day. Varied and stimulating age appropriate activities each day. Flexibility in the care options is super important to us as well. Our little girl has a health condition that the center have been AMAZING at dealing with and I have had no concerns about their ability to manage it during the day - she has been making awesome progress. The communication, information and authentic approach means a lot. I personally feel that there are some people that have little to no appreciation for how much goes into caring for other peoples children. My son has attended Kids & Company since he was three months old. He is now graduating on to Kindergarten and we have had such a great experience at this location and with the director, Ms. Janae, over the past five years. The teachers are so attentive, caring and kind. They are wonderful with accommodating allergies - we have a nut allergy and he has never had a reaction here. This daycare is such a treasure! Between our 6 year old, our (almost) 2 year old, and various life changes, we've tried out a lot of daycares. Big institutional ones, home daycares, cooperative daycares, you name it. After all the ones we tried, this one is definitely the best. Here's why: - amazing teachers and executive staff who love our kid (she's treated like a rockstar from the moment she's dropped off all the way through pick up) - fabulous education (their emergent curriculum is so fun! Our kid is excited to go to school each day and comes home counting, singing her ABCs, and more) - focus on creativity (she's painting, coloring, you name it, everyday) - wonderful diverse food (biryani, jambalaya, and other delicious foods are no surprise here. There are meat & vegetarian options. Allergies are accomodated very carefully.) - an emphasis on making parents' lives easier (they provide grab n go snacks at the end of the day to make pickup easier, they use the Kindercare app so you can see what your little one is up to during the day if/when you're missing them, and they even provide a Shopping day to watch your kids for free one weekend day near the holidays) - great hours (6:30am - 6pm, with drop off time flexibility until 10:30am) - amazing flexibility (you can choose from a variety of part or full-time offerings) And at the end of the day, it's just such a happy space. I feel so attached to sending my daughter here. She lights up when we talk about her school. There's cute festive music during typical drop off and pick up hours in the hallway, they do parades for the holidays, and it feels like a dream come true as far as daycares go. I went to tour this daycare about a week ago and while the space and actual daycare were nice and roomy with good equipment, the staff is not quality at all. I decided to write a review because I came to tour this daycare because of the reviews and a 4.8 star daycare this place is not. Let me save you some time here like I wish someone had done for me. I am a former elementary teacher as well as an administrator so when I tour daycares, there are a lot of things I pay attention to. Firstly, when I arrived the director or assistant director who was supposed to give me the tour, barely spoke and then told me that her "director in training" would do the tour with me instead which would have not been a problem but I honestly doubt this daycare teacher was actually in training the way their interactions were and the way the tour actually went. For starters, she never asked me my child's name or her age until halfway through the tour which is just ridiculous (she knew to show me the infant classroom because the director told her to at the very top of me entering the building) and then she literally was walking and pointing to bulletin boards and saying things like "here are our teachers" but never actually stopped to allow me to look at them. Then when she took me into the infant classroom what I walked into... no ma'am. It was chaotic, messy, and clearly disorganized. Now as a classroom teacher and a parent, I am not expecting complete calmness but you could just tell the disorganization. For example, when I asked about their daily schedule the teacher informed me that they have a lesson plan but when she went to get it she could barely find it as there were piles and piles of paper that she was shuffling through to get to it. The lesson plan or daily schedule should be posted somewhere so that parents and teachers alike can easily view it. After taking me to see one of the infant classrooms, she walked me into other classrooms very quickly with a "this is the toddler room, this the PreK room, etc." conversation. There was no warmness at all which is something I look for because I want my baby to feel warmth and love when she goes to her daycare. Once she finished she walked me back to the director's office who was finishing up a call. Once she finished, I kid you all not, she barely looked at me- she was on her computer and didn't ask me any other questions to check in on my tour and just said something like "if you can fill out the information sheet we will send an email with next steps for registration. Needless to say, I never received a call or email from them following this tour. I wrote all this out so that you don't waste your time looking into this daycare like I did. I promise you, you can tell how much they value and care about what they do with how seriously they take tours. This is me coming to see about you keeping my infant child who can't talk for herself so I have to trust that you will look after her with the same level of care as I would. And it was clear that wouldn't be the case. I hope that they read this review and make some improvements but I do not recommend. Being parents of 2 kids we have seen enough daycares to say that this one is by far the worst we've ever seen. We packed up and left immediately. No one called why we left nor did corporate follow up as promised. Our child is no longer there, here is some info for you to consider this place. 1. First impression/Tour: You get a fantastic tour and explanations of everything the school does. Once the tour was over we were in heaven. We loved it.About 3 months after our child started, we started noticing things we did not liked. We talked to the site director and regional director, but we felt that all things we mentioned were falling into deaf hears. 2. Front office / Security : One thing we started noticing during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup is that there would be no one in the main office, and this almost consistently (Mostly mornings though). Access to the building is done using a key fob. Anyone would be able to piggy back someone else without keying and no one would be able to notice. This is alarming and extremely unsafe. What if someone would come and steal a child pretending he/she is authorize to pick up? Even after our complains, this never really changed. As far as payments, we always had to give the check to a teacher instead of directly to the site director. 3. Cleanliness: We were told that a company is coming everyday to clean the facility. Well this is not true. At many times we saw teachers mopping their own classrooms. We were even told that they had to move our child's class to another room because somehow bleach was found in the other room and they wanted to make sure it was safe for the kids. 4. Confidentiality. Yes it's a very strong word. Yes, we called Corporate and voiced our concerns. We were told that they were going to start monitoring and investigating. The school Director will never know who called. Lies lies lies. We knew they knew as soon as we walked in the next morning. Well once I got all the names I went to this wonderful thing we call the internet. Half these people that "run" the school came from American Kidz Academy west loop (Poor reviews as well) and scratch each other's backs. So yeah confidentiality is a joke there. 5. Teachers/education: One of our main concern was an extremely high teacher churn rate. In the 7-8 months that we stayed there, our child saw about 9 to 10 different teachers. Some of these teachers were extremely competent and others not. How do you want your kid to progress when it has no stability in education with so many teachers. We've had 0 report in how our child was doing other than the EOD reports. It was always a surprise to find out who we would have on Mondays. On top of that we would not be informed of any changes. We were just left wondering. We talked to some teachers before we left and after. Most of them recommended us to leave because it was not a safe place for our child. Some even told us that the reason for teachers leaving was the terrible treatment received from the very moody site director. They were bullied unless you would be on her side. 6. Communication. There is none. No news letters. Nothing. You are dropping your kid in a barn that runs its self. Things changed a little after many parents complained but it was still far from acceptable at the time of our departure. 7. Another concern was the fact that our kid would come back many timea with terrible diaper rashwe. Sometime with blood. After our last complain, we were called back and were given lessons on diapers and that our child might be allergic to the current ones. She had no diaper rash before getting to this place and doesn't now. Finally, Holiday time was coming, and we had just about enough of this place. We were about to take 2 weeks off and informed the new teacher (someone that already worked with the site Director in the past) that we would take our child out for 2 weeks and possibly not come back because we did not feel things would change.Well, apparently, the information funneled back to the site director, who decided to shame us in front of some teachers (some were kind enough to inform us of what happened). Anyway, we are not there anymore. We are sorry our experience was not successful over there. We heard many good things about Kids and Company in Canada, but it seems that their system does not work here. It could actually work if you'd put competent people in place. People that actually care about kids, care about education, care about their employees. But in this particular case, all of this does not apply. It only seems they care about your money. Build a stronger company by treating your employees good and with respect. Until this does not change, until they treat their employees better, this site will not succeed. Teachers will keep coming and going at the end, your kids education and well being will suffer. As of right now it's just a place to drop your kid off not a place where they learn. read more

Wow, it's so funny reading these reviews...even the filtered ones because everything is so true. From the amazing tour promising stuff that they never deliver on, to the total downhill sh*thole this place turned into. The turnover is insane, the teachers are laughable (if you can even call them that), the communication is non existent, when you decide to leave you really do get completely shunned by the director. She's goes from super nice to literally not speaking to you at all. Just beware, you get what you pay for. Since pulling my son and moving to a new school he's been SO much happier and has learned more in a month than he did in 9 months here. There are way too many other good options in the west loop. We are so happy that we found our teacher for Toddler II classroom! if it wasn't for her; my daughter wouldn't be SOOOO ADVANCED as she is right now! There is a brand new director on site and he's absolutely fabulous! We couldn't be happier; especially because now we have the 2nd baby in Infant I classroom and it makes everything sooo convenient. It's good to have the familiar faces and easy to pick up 2 kids from one place. I enrolled my daughter at Kid&Co last spring. I agree with some of the other reviews that mentioned how the tour would "seem" so great. I was also very impressed with the tour. The director, Cyndi, seemed so interested in what my goals for my child were and also my concerns. She was so good at assuring me that their primary focus was the child's safety and education. Wow, she was an awesome actress! The first red flag for me was the turnover in teachers. My daughter started out with an amazing teacher who you could tell was really focused on truly nurturing the children. Before this teacher decided to leave I could tell that she was becoming very uncomfortable with the way things were at this facility. Then all of a sudden she was gone. Parent's were given the run around about when she would be back and when our children would have a lead teacher again. There were so many people in and out of that room. My daugher didnt know who to call her teacher. she started becoming very uncomfortable with that. The second red flag was the fact that I communicated a couple of concerns to the director and could tell that she could really care less even when I would tell her things that I saw on the camera as far as certain teachers grabbing students aggresively and my daughter even saying she was hit by one. Children that small do not make up stories like that. If they are making it up it would be very hard for them to articulate the same story multiple times, but my daughter did so I knew she wasnt lying. I could tell that my "complaints" were starting to irritate the director and that the teachers in question were not repremanded in any way. The cameras are a nice "calming" feature for the parents but as another review mentioned, you dont know what nasty things they could be saying to the children because you cant hear anything. Luckily for me, my child is a talker and she helped to understand that there were some things going on there that weren't okay. The 3rd red flag for us was the amount of turnover in the children. I noticed my daughte's classmates being pulled out left and right. Lucikly I was able to stay in communication with some of the parents and receive some feedback. We all pretty much had the same issues. No communication and true concern from the director and too much turnover in teachers. There are a few good teachers at this facility and i hope that they can assist with making some changes at that place. However, you have to start at the head and the first person that really needs to go is the director. She is not a person that needs to be over children. She is concerned about the money and she will say what she needs to to make sure she gets parents through that door. However, dont expect much after that. Oh and please know that when you finally realize that you made a mistake enrolling your child here and decide to take them out, she will become nasty. I mean very nasty. After I finally said I have to get my child out of there and gave notice, she wouldnt even speak to us. Even when I looked her directly in her face to say "hello" or "good morning". My daughter even said, "mommy Ms. Cyndi mean to me" and I believe her. Now that's just wrong. The only two upsides to this place is flexibility and cleanliness. Not most daycares offer the flexibility for complimentary late pick-up and for the most part they seemed to keep the facility very neat and clean. I know it is tough finding the best daycare for our children and entrusting someone else with their safety and education. However, if you come across this place, please keep searching. My son has been at the Randolph street location of kids and company since he was 7months old, he is 3.5 now and still loving it. He comes home with new words/letters/ideas all the time and the center has helped a lot with transitions to different new nap schedules, potty training too. Thank goodness for Kids & Company! We have searched high and low for quality care for my daughter and after an exhaustive search we have found the right place for her! Now, don't get me wrong - we attended 2 other schools in the West Loop Area, Gardner and Kidz but we were not happy with the way the programming was running and not at all happy with the teaching staff and management team. The school director Cyndi is always at the school and has sent several pictures through email to let me know how my little one is doing. I don't know how she knows when I need that extra boost, but she does and I absolutely love it! The camera's are an extra benefit, I would love to be able to hear what is happening, but honestly, while I'm sitting at my desk, I just have it on in the background so I can click on it whenever I am wondering how her day is going. Her teachers are so wonderful and caring - I am getting detailed reports from her teacher every day and it really does help me to understand her day and how long she napped and how much she ate, the teachers also spend a few minutes talking to me about her day and what she learned. For me, it's these extra touches that make all the difference. If you are really picky about food choices for your child, they do serve organic foods and snacks - it's surprising the new foods my daughter is trying and loving which helps make eating at home much easier as well. Our son attended Kids & Co. in the W. Loop for only a few months, but the experience was a very good one. Brett is an attentive and caring person and does a great job keeping all the plates spinning. All of the teachers are very competent and trustworthy, with a few really great standouts like Miss Wendy. The facility is always clean, orderly, and most important: safe and secure. If we lived closer to this location, our son would certainly still be enrolled. I left off one star because issues / questions related to payment and accounting are not addressed properly. I believe this is the fault of the larger Kids & Company LLC, not this location or Brett. My bank account would sometimes be debited at irregular intervals, and even after we left, they continued to charge me until I began leaving voicemails in their Toronto office. Not a major issue but certainly frustrating. It would be helpful have a simple support system in place for such questions, and / or a way to pay online and manage one's account electronically. Brett should not be expected to oversee teachers, help children and parents, AND address these kinds of basic administrative issues all by himself. read more

My child has been a student since March 2014, when I enrolled him for full time daycare at age 3. At first, the school had a rocky start due to poor management by a former director and inconsistent policies/ follow through. During the time when I was completely fed up and ready to change my child's school (I was touring various facilities all of that particular week), a wonderful thing happened. Mr Brett was hired on as the director and everything changed. The school took a complete turnaround. When Mr Brett came on board, the school's demeanor and just about every facet made a complete 360. The teachers were visibly happy, the kids seemed to sense the vibe and responded in an awesome way. The facility is spotless and run in a respectful but consistent manner. Communication is wonderful. It was like storm clouds lifted and a new facility was born. My son has learned so very much- everything from life skills to communication and friendship to the academics that are preparing him for kindergarten. Their learning philosophy is great and the kids really receive a well diversified, fun and engaging curriculum that is awesome for their age level and attention span. I am so very impressed with kids and company. I love my child's school and feel that when I drop him off, he's not only learning and treated with respect and love, but showing that love right back. He eagerly hugs his teachers and the director as if they're part of the family. This school has been such a positive light in our lives thanks to Mr Brett and awesome teachers like Mr Judson, Ms Nancy and Ms Olaya. I am so happy with my decision to send my child here. read more

We had our kids (3 and 5) at Kids & Company since their opening day and have been overall very happy with the care they receive. Pros: * small class sizes/student-to-teacher ratio * more reasonable rates than most other places we checked out in the area * webcams in the room so we can check on the kids during the day * a nice mix of structured and free play time * easily accessible facility with both on-street parking and a large parking lot in the back * daily written reports on the kids * really good with potty training * no waiting lists (at least not when we enrolled) Cons: *as a new facility the turnover and growing pains were there, but they finally seem to be stabilizing, and they have not seemed afraid to make staffing adjustments, at the leadership level and in the classroom, as necessary. They have really turned a corner with the new site director, who has done good at attracting and retaining good teachers in the classroom. read more

Our infant son has been a student at Kids & Co since March 2015. Reviews previous to March 2015 should be disregarded. Our interaction with the previous site director was brief since "Mr. Brett" (the new director) started the same week as our little one, but from what we could tell, Brett has had a huge positive impact on this facility and it's teachers. He seems to have a true passion for making this not only a day care, but a school where kids learn and develop both physically and mentally all while having fun doing it. What originally attracted us to this location was the larger classrooms and the separate crib area. The facilities are incredibly clean, with the teachers constantly washing the toys, bouncy seats, mats, etc. They have a small outdoor area and large strollers to take the infants on walks. Our son has developed so quickly in his 5 months at Kids & Co. We've seen him fly through his developmental milestones which we are crediting not only to his interaction with other kids in his class, but also to his wonderful teachers Ms. Danielle and Ms. Jimia. Our son loves having them as teachers and is incredibly comfortable around them. Occasionally throughout the day, either my husband or I will check out the online cameras and see Ms. Jimia telling the class a story or reading them a book and Ms Danielle giving a few extra cuddles or playing with them on the mat. read more

I absolutely loooove this day care! I have 4 children and this was my first time sending any of them to daycare. Mr.Brett and Miss. Janae are amazing. It took my 2 year old a bit to adjust, he would always cry at first when I was leaving, but Miss Janae would make sure to comfort him when I would leave. He looooves Ms.Janae! He also loved his teachers Mr. Eric and Miss. Jabree (I hope I spelled that correctly)! The cameras that are accessible to parents give a great sense of relief for paranoid parents like me,lol. After a while, I completely stopped checking in, I knew my son was in great hands. My two kiddos attended Kids & Company for a year and I was very happy with teachers and staff. First off, Mr. Brett is one of the most caring and hardworking people I know. You can tell he genuinely cares about his staff as well as all the kiddos, and is the kind of guy who can make friends with everybody! All the parents I know loved him. Ms. Janae is also wonderful and is quick to step up to the plate where ever she is needed. My daughter absolutely adored her teacher, Mr. Judson. He's sooo amazing with the 3-5 year olds, he has the patience of a rock and really takes the time to get to know each of his kids and make sure they're thriving and happy. My toddler son loved his teachers Ms. Mia and Ms. Olaya. He felt very comfortable and safe with them, and it was evident they were his favorite teachers. He thrived under their tutelage and hit all his milestones early (stringing together 3-4 word sentences at 18 months old). By the time he was 2, he could talk a mile a minute! If you're looking for quality care in West Loop that won't completely break the bank, I highly recommend Kids & Company. I still occasionally do drop-off care when I'm in the area and wouldn't have left if I didn't move to the suburbs! read more

Each time I begin writing i find it so difficult to put words together to describe how grateful we are for this amazing place and amazing people, especially Director Mr. Brett. He made this place like second home for our daughter and she can't wait to come back each day. Our daughter has been coming here since she was 12 weeks old (now 18 months) and we have LOVED Kids and Company. The teachers are all wonderful and some are also available to babysit after hours which is great. Miss Janae, the center director, is really caring and accommodating. They do a great job with transitions to new classrooms and teaching kids things like sign language. It has been a really great experience for us! read more

My son started here full-time February 2014 when the centre opened. At first it seemed promising but everything went downhill pretty fast, here are the issues I had: 1) every month my son had a new teacher; 2) from the time the kids got up from their nap, until parents came for pick ups, the kids would be miserable at the playground the whole time, reason being the classrooms were being cleaned for the next day; 3) their curriculum wasn't effective at all, everything seemed like an open play gym; 4) I never got a report of how my son was doing; 5) potty training was non existent. I'm only talking about the 2 - 3 year old classroom which is where my son was. More than half of the kids who were in that class with my son are no longer there. Beautiful facility with web cam access but unfortunately there were several things about Kids & Company that we did not like so our daughter no longer attends. I've actually never written a review before but felt the need to share our experience here since it was so disappointing. 1.) Twice our daughter wasn't fed (once lunch, another time it was one of her bottles) 2.) They lost items of ours by sending them home with the wrong parents 3.) Turnover - we had several different teachers in a short amount of time so we never had consistency which made it hard for our family to adjust to daycare 4.) Rarely followed directions given on the "Getting to know your child form" 5.) Daily report cards never made sense...multiple times they said she was eating and napping at the same time 6.) Witnessed a teacher on the webcam playing with her cell-phone and laying on the floor appearing tired/bored instead of being attentive and interacting with the kids read more

Our daughter has been at Kids & Company for almost 2 years now, and we love it. She started part-time when she was 4 months old, and we slowly added more days over time because we noticed how she was thriving and learning so much faster from being at daycare. What we love most: - FLEXIBILITY: Mr. Brett, the Director, was/is incredibly flexible with our schedule. We were able to switch days easily. There were several times when our daughter was out sick for several days, and we were able to make up those days when she was healthy. - CARE & COMPASSION: The staff has always been very caring. A few times I would request that Mr. Brett or the teachers keep a close eye on our daughter if she has signs of feeling unwell, and each time, I would get a call from Mr. Brett midday with an update - definitely very reassuring for a parent. For parents who are concerned about transitions, Mr. Brett was so understanding that transitioning teachers or classrooms can be terrifying for a child. Each time, we were able to transition our daughter slowly (have the child spend a few hours in the new classroom each day with a familiar teacher over the course of a couple of weeks). This has worked great for our daughter. Finally, our daughter's teachers are amazing. They tell me little stories about what she did or how much she has grown/learned over time or what activities she enjoys most. My daughter loves her teachers so much that she will ask if we can see them on weekends! Ms. Nehemiah and Ms. Olaya are amazing! - SCHEDULE: When we visited other daycare centers, some had limitations (child can only attend for a maximum of 8 hours/day) or were closed for an entire week prior to holidays. Kids & Company has no limitations on how many hours a day the child can be there and is only closed on major holidays. They open early and close late enough for parents to pick up their child after a full work day. Overall, we feel that Kids & Company has made our lives so much easier as parents with their flexibility and staff that show they genuinely care about our child. Seeing how much daughter loves "school" and her teachers has reassured us that we made the right choice. read more

Hello to everyone that is reading this. I am not the type to write a review but I do believe that I needed to write this review. I've noticed that people actually read these reviews and I am hoping that this review helps a lot and reach out to some people. I actually do not think that this place is bad. I gave this place two stars because I feel that some changes have been made at this place in which I think was great... But I also believe that this place would be even better if we had some of the old teachers back whom left for really good reasons. I am a parent of one of the children at this facility and although my child has a good teacher, I would really like for her old teacher to return. My child learned a lot more with her old teacher but I am not discrediting the teacher who she has now. I know a lot of parents that would agree with me on this and I will try my best to reach out to every parent so that we can have some wonderful teachers return. This may seem a bit selfish of me considering I have no idea what these young ladies are doing now. But if I'm able to reach out to them in some kind of way possible, I will. Parents, and I'm speaking mainly to the parents of the preschool 2 class, would you like to see some teachers return? My daughter has lost many classmates and wonderful teachers since she has been at this place. I noticed that most of the students have been disenrolled due to the turnover of teachers in this one class. Now that the old director is no longer at kids and company, why not bring our teachers back whom left because of her. I won't mention any names but to the new director of kids and company, we had some great teachers that left and I just would like to see them back. And quite frankly, some other parents would as well. read more

We started with Kids and Co in June 2015, after spending over a year at another daycare in the area. We toured Kids and Co when they first opened but did not choose them because of the newest of the facility and did not want our son to be part of the "growing pains" of a new facility. After over a year at another daycare, we were ready to move - especially after learning that the previous Director (who we did not have a good feeling about during the tour) had left. So far so good at Kids and Co. Brett is great. Our son is in the two's class and he's getting used to his new school and new teachers. It has been a hard few months for him because he really liked his previous teachers but Nancy and JuBree are winning him over. Some things to consider about Kids and Co. Pros: 1. Administration staff is very accommodating and responsive 2. Teachers are very nice and friendly. Takes great care of my son's needs - will have to follow-up in a few months to see how much my son is learning as his previous teachers were very good and taught him a lot (at his age, caring for his basic needs is important but shaping/developing his mind is even more important). 3. Nancy- one of the head teachers in the two's class speaks Spanish and some of her students are picking it up 4. Playground in the back is a plus (see cons) 5. Small classroom size (since they are still growing) is nice for my needy child Cons: 1. Playground is nice but the children have to walk through a parking lot to get there. Also the playground is not covered, so the summer heat can be brutal for kids. 2. Need better visibility to the food the kids are eating. Ms Nancy shows me a menu if I asked, but it should be posted somewhere for parents. 3. Need more details on the teachers' background/qualifications. I was given the info during the tour but there should be a bio on each teacher posted somewhere for parents. So far so good. BTW, if you're considering Kids and Co because of the webcam, don't place much weight on this. It is not very clear (you can see blurry images of the kids) and most of the time, the kids are outside or in the play room (which have no webcams). read more

This review has been a long time coming.....We are now going on close to 2 years with Kids and Company. To be honest - when we started it was shall we say rocky. For those of you reading the reviews from their first year - I would have been along the same lines. But we had a lot of conversations with the US director and lots of open communication and we stuck it out. And then early last year came Mr. Brett. From his first day - the first time walking in - it was like a new school and it was like a warm cloud welcoming you in. The entire atmosphere changed. It is now so warm, friendly, inviting, smiles and hellos from every teacher you passed by in the hall. I can say I'm not a quiet one and will ask when I have questions - and Mr. Brett always welcome the conversation. My son who started just after he turned two and who is now 4 and in the pre-k room loves his teachers and the school. I do believe we are one of the longest standing families - and I am happy we have stuck it out. We believe in a play based model - but there is tremendous learning going on. Our son just seems to thrive in this atmosphere. We talk with our teacher all the time and really feel that we know our child is well taken care of. My daughter started at Kids & Company at 4 months old in the infant room and is now 18 months old in the toddler room. We've had both positive and negative experiences. IMPORTANTLY, we have not had any complaints since early 2015 when the new site director took over. Mr. Brett has made a world of difference in our experience. He is always cheerful and friendly, takes his time to get to know the kids, extremely responsive by email or when I randomly stop in his office, and committed to doing what's best for kids and parents (this was not our experience with the previous site director). I do think there were some growing pains in 2014, but the teacher turnover rate has definitely slowed with no teacher transitions in my daughter's room over the past 6 months. If you are considering Kids & Company, please know that things have changed since the negative reviews were posted. My daughter is thriving and learning so much at Kids & Company. She surprises us everyday with something new, like being able to name colors when we haven't spent any time on that at home (so I know it was daycare). She LOVES her teachers - runs in to give them hugs and hardly wants to leave as she's having so much fun. I really believe Kids & Company does a great job at balancing play and learning (and combining them). Other perks include flexible, part-time tuition rates, "date nights" twice a year, special programs on weekends, webcams, outdoor play park without having to cross busy city streets, and big windows for natural light in the classrooms. read more

My son has been a student since November 2014, and was enrolled in the two year-old classroom. I was drawn to Kids & Company due to the curriculum offered/implemented and that all food is organic for the children. I love the location and the layout is very nice. The first few months were tough while under the prior Site Director's administration. I was booking tours with other daycare sites/schools, seeing as I was not pleased with the prior Site Director. While scheduling tours, I was informed a new Site Director was coming on board. This gave me hope! I cancelled the tours to give this site another chance and I am so thankful that I did! Immediately, Brett sent a wonderful email to the parents, and you could tell his heart is in the right place and that he would be working to make this school a better place. He has been working tirelessly since coming on-board and this has made a world of difference! I cannot thank him enough for all that he has done and continues to do for my son and the other children. My son is so happy to see 'Mr. Brett' when we get to school in the morning and is happy to see his teachers. My son's teachers have been wonderful with communicating daily events when I drop him off in the morning and when I pick him up from school. This is in addition to the daily report I receive each day. I am very impressed with how the curriculum is carried out. The children are treated with respect and love. Thank you Ms. Nancy, Ms. Jabri and the rest of the team! I have seen the reviews regarding turnover, this was a large concern soon after enrolling my son. I can say, there has not been teacher turnover in my son's class since Brett has come on board. Additionally, the site is very clean and well organized. The bad reviews prior to February 2015 pertain to the way things operated with the prior site director and a few teachers that are no longer with the site. Mr. Brett and the current teaching staff really are wonderful. I implore you to look past the outdated reviews and hope you will find this school is a great place for children! read more

This is by far the best daycare out there. Mr Brett is the site director and is so friendly and understanding. My 2 yo daughter absolutely adores him! The teachers in the rooms are amazing as well. My son has been attending Kids & Company since he was 15 weeks old in May 2016, first in the West Loop location while we awaited the opening of the Lincoln Park location, very close to our home. We could not be more pleased with both locations of Kids & Co.! When initially trying to decide between a nanny and daycare, and then visiting several daycares in the area, Kids & Co. stood out and made the decision a no brainer. The facilities are immaculate and bright, the teachers are so attentive and sweet, and the center directors are extremely personable and responsive to our needs and requests. I won't go into details about the centers we did not choose, but none had all of the qualities above. At West Loop, the center director Brett is one of a kind. He is so friendly, responsive and high energy, and he absolutely adores the kids. The infant teachers Elma, Tenisha and Yaide are amazing...very attentive and nurturing. Dropping off my son the first day was tough (on me) but they made it as easy as possible and took as good care of him as I could ever ask. When the Lincoln Park location finally opened in September 2016 and we made our planned transition (which cut our morning commute to a 1 minute walk), I was so sad to leave West Loop. I cried with Mr. Brett and all of the teachers who had grown to love my son. I hope our paths cross again someday! read more

Our 10 month old son has been at Kids and Co. since July and we love the place and everyone who works there. He currently attends twice a week. When I drop him off he waves bye bye and starts playing. When I pick him up he's relaxed and frequently could care less that I'm there to pick him up. I take that as a good sign. The food, which is included in tuition, is non processed healthy stuff. The facility is clean and safe. It's expensive but competitive for the neighborhood. I would also like to mention that Mr. Brett has been flexible with our childcare needs, especially when compared to other places, and that has been a life saver for our family. My two sons have been going here for 11 months, and I can say without reservation that these folks are awesome! Please don't let the bad reviews scare you--they got a new site director in early February 2015 who is on the ball and seems to have resolved all of the earlier issues with teacher turnover, broken promises, lack of student assessments, spotty communication, etc. (which I definitely saw and had issues with under the old site director). In my opinion, Kids & Company is a much more welcoming and nurturing place for everyone (teachers, staff, children, parents) as a result of this change. Additionally, although occasionally there is nobody in the office (because they're taking care of things), someone is usually nearby, which increases security and makes it easier to resolve issues and ask questions. This is a big improvement over the previous site director, who was often not in the office when we arrived and never seemed to be there after 5:45, so sometimes days went by without me seeing her, even though they close at 6. The new site director is almost always smiling, which to me says a lot about how he feels about his job and contributes to the welcoming atmosphere. The teachers are incredibly caring, loving, thoughtful people who are very good at what they do. We were all a little sad when my younger son transitioned out of the Infant II classroom, as we had all grown to love those ladies! But the Infant III teacher is really nice too, which makes the transition a lot easier. My younger son has thrived here: he is outgoing, happy, and starting to say lots of words, which at 16 months is quite good. My older son has really benefited from socializing with the kids and Preschool teachers, and while it's unclear to me how much he's learned here (in terms of pre-reading/writing skills), he is much more outgoing and able to interact easily with other kids than he was before we started. (According to the daily reports, his class frequently learns things that I taught him before he started day care, and although I know that some of the teachers go beyond reinforcement to teach him new or deeper content, I don't think this always happens. I haven't asked them to work on this; I just try to supplement his learning at home.) We have a pretty unusual schedule, and the director, teachers, and staff have been very understanding and accommodating! We will soon be leaving Chicago, and I can only hope that our next day care experience is as good as this one has been. read more

I have been meaning to right this review on Kids and Company at 1313 Randolph str. for several weeks now. Each time I begin writing i find it so difficult to put words together to describe how grateful we are for this amazing place and amazing people, especially Director Mr. Brett. He made this place like second home for our daughter and she can't wait to come back each day. For me, as a mother, it means a lot when your child (she was very attached to me) is asking to go to school))) With all the individual attention and care to children you can be calm that if you are not with your kid he/she will be surrounded by love and attention. We loved Kids & Co for the first few weeks. The director was super warm and friendly and the teacher was fabulous. But then the director left and the new person was really not helpful or friendly. The teacher changed and the new teacher clearly was out of her depth overseeing 4 infants. We weren't happy any longer and left. read more

As someone with high standards and experience when it comes to child care, Kids and Company is by far the BEST childcare center in the area. My 15 month old nephew goes to Kids and Company and is enrolled in the toddler program. I have dropped and picked him up from school. He is always so excited and happy to be there! It is comforting for me to know that he is having fun and learning in a safe, colorful, and nurturing environment. The learning activities and crafts he gets to do with his teachers and classmates are creative, stimulating, and constant that I am confident he is strengthening his cognitive skills and getting constant attention. The staff at Kids and Co are welcoming, loving, and genuinely interested in creating the best experience for the little ones, even down to the food they prepare and serve. If you are going to leave your kids with someone, Kids and Company is as good as it gets, paying close attention to every detail of your child's day. read more

Our 3 month old son started with Kids & Co in February of 2015. After a good sales pitch, we felt great about the space and the overall operation. Unfortunately our first few months was not the ideal experience because the location wasn't being managed well on any level. Then, Mr. Brett picked up the Site Director role and he made a huge difference in the communication, care and general operations of the school. That is not an easy task and it didn't happen overnight. It took awhile for me to get comfortable with the quality of the teachers. But, one by one, the people that concerned me either improved or left. I didn't have to say much because by the time I became really concerned the situation was handled. On 2 occasions I had to raise more serious concerns and I was wildly impressed by Mr. Brett's openness and responsiveness, couldn't ask for anything more than that. Gives me a bunch of faith in Mr. Brett's leadership. There has been one teacher that we've loved from the beginning, Miss Danielle! She was our ray of hope through it all. You can just tell she loves her job, the children and my son, specifically. She is kind but also constructive with us as first time parents. Then comes Miss Jimia! The woman knows how to work a room of babies!! She is a complete blast. I love how expressive and interactive she is, singing, dancing and playing with all the babies, I never get the sense that one child gets more love than another (this is HUGE!). There used to be a time when I would walk into my son's classroom at the end of the day to find a good number of the babies crying, it was a bit of a madhouse. Now I walk in and the kids are quiet and engaged. They seem content as if they got everything they needed that day! There are more promising teachers joining as well and I can tell you the quality continues to improve. If I provided a review 6 months ago, this would have been 1 star. Huge turnaround. read more
