Additionally, I am grateful for the emphasis placed on teaching proper eating habits, including using utensils. The structured mealtime routine has positively influenced my daughter's eating habits at home as well. The encourages them to practice using utensils, fostering independence and essential life skills. Lastly, I want to acknowledge Kid's Campus for providing a strong foundation for my daughter's education. The center goes above and beyond to create a holistic learning experience for the children, ensuring that they are well-prepared for their educational journey ahead. My son has attended Kid's Campus for the past 5 years for the Before and Aftercare Program. I was pleased with the program when he first started and even more pleased now. Mrs. Yomi is doing an amazing job as the leader of the facility. I appreciate her professionalism. Also, I appreciate that she is very hands on with the children. She has been such a positive asset there. The children absolutely love her and in my observation, I can see that she loves them as well. The only saving grace this daycare has is its teachers (if management is lucky enough to keep them employed for longer than a few weeks). In our short time there, we have seen at least 3 different assistant directors - 2 of which we had only seen for a few weeks before they left. The third just started right before our departure, so i cannot comment on her tenure. The teachers are incredible and take amazing care of your children - specifically Ms. Alaysia, Ms. Trinity, Ms. Libby and Ms. Nikki. THEY are the reason this daycare is still running, they're the only reason i'm giving any stars on this review at all. THEY are the only reason that we stayed as long as we did before being completely fed up. The administration/directors/owner are all incredibly, painfully disorganized and absolutely horrible with communication. We had to ask numerous times over the course of 2 months for a digital copy of the handbook as we suspected administration was making up rules (which we found out that they were - though they will deny it). The handbook is something that should have been provided to us on our first day. They neglected to ensure all paperwork was completed and up to date upon our kids start date, despite being verbally assured that they had everything they needed from us, only to be denied entry of our kids into care until paperwork was filled out by their doctor (on a Friday afternoon just before a long weekend, might i add) with no notice because they were being audited and did not have the correct paperwork. They seemed to be really scrambling around ahead of this audit... but you shouldn't need to do that before an audit if you are following the proper procedures and protocols to begin with. My children were ALWAYS sick once starting with Kids Campus - and one of the most recent times they were sick, we got a phone call from the owner saying that other parents were emailing her about my sick child... how or why my children's medical information was communicated to another parent is beyond me. They have called us as late as 9:30pm which i found incredibly inappropriate - especially for working parents with small children. Anytime i saw my child(ren) near or being held by the owner, they did nothing but scream and cry. Any concerns you have will be listened to, then promptly forgotten or ignored - nothing will change. Everything about this daycare was just one inconvenience after another. So much so that I even had to email and confirm they received our letter of termination of childcare because we heard NOTHING from them after submitting -we were genuinely afraid they would claim to have not received our letter so that they could keep our security deposit. This daycare has so much potential, and I hope it is sold to new management before it goes under completely because the reputation this daycare holds right now is not a good one. read more

Update 2023: Let me start by saying that the owner, Yomi is clearly having the reviews padded with misinformation. I would like to clearly state that as someone that's ACTUALLY had their child under the care/ management of this owner *** I WOULD NOT EVER RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE ***. There is no personal liability taken by the owner of this facility. Nothing is ever her fault and parents are always "wrong" as she makes herself the victim. I've never experienced such dishonesty and disrespect from someone in the childcare facility. Her willingness to threaten legal action against parents for formalities is unacceptable and shameful. This center has a known reputation in Calvert County and I encourage ANYONE to dig in to resources provided by the county as well as the local moms groups to get information before enrolling your child here. Since taking over she's lost the accreditation of the state and had to close several rooms due to her inability to maintain staff and provide sufficient care. I hope she sells to another owner that can bring back what this center used to be to this area. We are in such need of childcare centers and she has completely ran this one into the ground making a "stay away zone" for the majority of us parents in the area. read more

In October 2021, the daycare was bought and under new ownership. Directors and Teachers that were at the daycare for YEARS started quitting or getting fired under false accusations. It was reported to parents that the management team was now hiring competent staff. Interestingly enough that definition of what competent staff meant was staff allowing the kids to run amuck (witnessed from the parking lot two little girls without their shirts on near the window) and sit in chairs with earbuds in. There was also an occasion where another little girl was bumping her naked butt with another child on the play ground. The teacher didn't notice but the parent did. I sent multiple emails to the new owner in hopes she could make this a positive transition. I had to reach out to her. At no point did she introduce herself to parents when she took over the daycare. Concerns from parents were disregarded and brushed off. She also didn't want parents to talk to their childs teacher. And on occasions it was witnessed Management yelling at parents when they tried to talk to teachers. It was encouraged for parents to call management with concerns but management would not respond back. My children went to that establishment for 14 years. I wanted this business to succeed however I try and tell everyone I can not to step foot into that daycare for the safety of their children. If you are considering this daycare... do your research. There are complaints online about what has happened here, Thankfully my children go elsewhere and are thriving. Its interesting that my nonverbal son who used to fight us going into Kids Campus no longer does that going to his new daycare. I wonder why??? read more

Enrolled my child here for 2.5 years. Original management and staff were excellent. They prioritized joy & relationships! For 15 years they built a legacy of service to the community, instilling confidence teamwork, structure and life skills in our children. The price was a premium, but it was a solid investment, well worth the cost... At that time! Fast forward to late 21 & the place was sold to a new owner; who's principle career was a banker. As far as we could infer from this email and the summary bio we were given, it seems the new owner got into childcare shortly after the 08 financial crisis and had been running an in home daycare before buying Kids Campus. Communication dropped off almost immediately from then. The only correspondence we received regularly was a higher price & a poorly orchestrated debut of a 3rd party automated invoicing service. This resulted in numerous overbilling issues that were exhausting to resolve due to the new pattern of non communication. After a year of watching 95% of the core staff leave, optimism eroded into pessimism as we watched skilled competent and passionate staff disappear. To make matters even worse, the new administration sent emails out bad mouthing these people, saying how the new administration was reevaluating their staff for "competence and professionalism" then it went on: "unfortunately some of them discomforted by our demands for efficiency decided to seek employment elsewhere" saying they were "no longer present and do not represent Kids Campus" 2 of the employees mentioned in this clearly hostile email were people with a favorable reputation in the community; both of whom had management experience before & after the new ownership. Telling already weary parents that the new management was looking for competent and professional staff, while badmouthing the outgoing staff in the same email underscored the new style of management,  betraying a spirit of incompetence vindictiveness and the UN-professionalism still present today. The situation deteriorated so bad that we just watched new bodies being thrown at classrooms almost weekly, as the revolving door of poor management decisions became evident. It got so bad that 3 classrooms had to be closed due to staffing shortfalls. Children were full of anxiety. Many of them would be mixed in with other classrooms in age groups ranging +3yrs difference. This explained why my 3 year old began talking about "Boobies" and learned profanity, as well as a whole host of defensive and aggressive behaviors. We weren't the only ones! 2 other close neighbors of mine had problems as well, and it effected their families negatively as they had to pull their kids out and reduce work hrs, because they were no longer safe. Why was it unsafe? Where do I begin?! Firstly the fact that there could regularly be seen, young individuals roaming and loitering the facility grounds in the afternoon hours, later turning up in classrooms to cover staffing shortfalls. A concerned parent noticed one of these strangers using slangs while addressing his child, he was concerned, especially since the [constantly changing] required list of new employees & their roles wasn't posted or communicated to him. He tried to get to know one of these people and the stranger hastily walked away while greeting him in return. Secondly, rude young staff who had earbuds on while watching our kids. The long and the short is: None of us ever knew who was watching our kids because staffing was so terrible. Almost nothing but strangers with your kids. 4+ Asst Dir's, frequent abrupt closures, quarantine emails going to some & not others. Billed weekly for the entire month of DEC but the center was open for less than a week! Covid became an easy scapegoat it seems. This could have been avoided if mgmt prioritized communication & proactively engaged parents instead of embracing secrecy, hostility and obstinate unwritten policies ie: Teachers not allowed to talk with/to you! The only consistent emails are bills & sporadic announcements laced with virulence towards outgoing staff, or parents. The summer "newsletter" was simply cut and pasted over prior year newsletters, modifying text in certain places, yet leaving horrible grammatical errors and inconsistencies. "Summer Camp" was no different. We were robbed! $600+ & only 1 field trip, NOTHING ELSE! I'm sad & disappointed. My 3 yr old used to love going there, before she tearfully begged us to stay home. If your child says or shows signs of mistreatment, especially physical marks, take pictures& Immediately Call CPS! Don't risk your credibility trying to resolve it with mgmt. You could be led into a failed trap with law enforcement & slanderously characterized as threatening and disrespectful while being associated with previous alleged incidents by others involving degrading comments and/or even racism while mgmt plays the victim to uninformed parents. Not a pleasant experience @ $12k tuition. read more

Inclusive child care center for all abilities Having a child on the Autism spectrum brings many new challenges to both the child and the parents, and Kids Campus provided an integral support network to us for over 12 years. During Pre-Kindergarten years, my child attended half day sessions in a Calvert County Public School classroom and the other half at Kids Campus with typical aged peers. This was a "best of both worlds" scenario, as my son was getting the early education he needed with the school system and he got to "be just a regular kid" at daycare...all in the same day. We made an extra effort to introduce the CCPS classroom teachers to the daycare teachers, where they could discuss common goals for my child. This included strategies for social development, educational and building personal confidence in himself. Daycare staff were invited and happily attended IEP meetings to listen to educational goals for my child and made the extra effort to incorporate those goals into daily activities. Daily lesson plans and exercises from the school classroom were shared, repeated and reinforced at Kids Campus. After the transition to Kindergarten and continuing through Middle School, my son began attending full school days and continued to attend Kids Campus for after care. The social development foundation that was encouraged in his younger years with the typical peers became clearly evident now. Classmates include him in games, encourage his participation and make sure he gets a turn with activities they do. "Inclusion" is what any parent wants for their child, but for a parent of a child with special needs... it's a dream come true. read more

My two sons started at this daycare in pre-k and loved it. They acquired an excellent learning foundation that has helped them in school, both are A students now in honors and AP classes. The teachers and staff were professional and really seemed to care about the children. I would and have recommend Kid's Campus. read more

Kids Campus has provided a strong, nurturing foundation for our daughter. Love the atmosphere, upbeat, clean well organized and structured. Kids are happy and interacting with the staff. They have a way of building self esteem and confidence. The skilled and caring staff are honestly second to none. There is a curriculum for every age group along with one of the best school readiness programs in the county. I would highly recommend KC Early Learning Center for parents looking for quality care and academic readiness. Best decision we ever made hands down. read more

This daycare is very unprofessional. They cost entirely too much and they do not even provide lunches for the price! They take advantage of young single moms & they take daycare vouchers but do not keep up with them. They will allow you to get so far in debt without telling you when and if your vouchers get behind. I relocated to the Dunkirk area and chose this day care center for my toddler. The owner is an absolutely insensitive, money hungry, rude and uncaring individual. There were several incidents and issues that occurred over the span of time my child was enrolled here. Each time the owner was approached to discuss my concerns; her response was angry and defensive (even when her staff was wrong). There is absolutely no care in the owner's heart for the children or what their parents ask that she provide for them (even infrequent requests). The owner spends more time referencing the fact that the center is accredited than she does giving a second thought about the children, their well-being and overall happiness. Please heed to this warning and take your child somewhere they will genuinely be cared about. read more

First impressions can be deceiving, as our family learned. The good news is that the facility is aesthetically pleasing, clean and well organized. That's where the good news ends. The bad news is the owner has no interest in the children other than to collect weekly tuitions from their parents. The owner is unprofessional and unapproachable and has no interest in parental concerns. She becomes defensive and combative to any suggestions and/or criticism. Additionally, although the center's handbook lists that the facility follows local and federal guideliness for closings and delays during inclement weather, this is not the case. The facility is also closed during non-traditional holidays and occassional continuing education conferences for staff. Parents are left in a bind with no child care, even though full tuition is expected. The facility does not pro rate for closings of any nature. Lastly, children are left outside for long periods of time, during both hot and cold weather days. Most importantly, frequent staff turnover is a noticeable issue, causing instability and stress on the children. This seems to correlate with the owner and assistant director's poor management skills and degrading treatment of their staff. Lastly, this center does not provide learning as advertised. Rather, it is a holding facility for children whose parents must work. Be wise and shop around. read more
