My family and I have had both good and bad experiences with this practice sporadically throughout the past 6 years. Dr. Mahajan does a good job, and doesn't prolong dental issues for my kids and for that I respect and appreciate the work that she does. Other pros about this office is that the wait time generally isn't extensive, and the dental assistants and dentist are good with bedside manner for kids. They seem to really want the kids to feel comfortable and ease any worries the kids may have. The cons from my experience have been the customer service experience of scheduling appointments, calling with questions or checking in for appointments at the office. However, I do think with some changes in staff and the fact that we are no longer on government insurance but rather paying for healthcare, our experience now vs 3 years ago is much better! I would overall recommend this dentist if you're looking for a pediatric dentist. read more

UPDATE!! Nearly two years since this appointment, they call and are now saying we owe them $170 from an appt from 2 years ago. I call my insurance to verify what was done for this appt before I do anything in which they say to me to NOT pay and that they HAVE BEEN paid. I try to call them and once again, no one answers the call. Billing department needs to get their shit together! DO NOT GO HERE they're not worth it! read more

Love this place!!! Me and my two girls feel so welcome and they absolutely adore the coin they get at the end of the visit to put in their treat machines. So cute. They have TVs on the ceiling and headphones for the littles to keep them distracted and just overall a comfortable place. I can't even speak to the level of service they have because it's nearly impossible to get through the phone lines. Initially I set up a new patient appt and apparently that's the only option that they answer the phones for. The earliest appt was the following month which apparently is normal for them even for existing patients I later found out. I took the appt and they sent me an email to set up my account for reminders but when I clicked the link it took me to a page that said "It appears that your email address is shared among several patients. Because of this Patient Connect doesn't know which account to show you. Please contact your healthcare provider and provide them with a unique email address for yourself to register for Patient Connect." I don't know how that would be possible seeing as how they sent me this email to the correct email address and even more how was this not caught during the call when I provided this information? But, I tried to call and wouldn't you know every time I called I was forwarded to their answering service who has absolutely no ability to help in any way other than send the receptionist a message and have them call back. I assumed this was because it was during a busy time which is understandable however I then waited to call as soon as they claim to open at 8am on a Monday and was forwarded again to the answering service. Still giving them the benefit of the doubt I assumed that maybe, just maybe I called to close to opening and I should give them some time to settle in. I called 30 min after and still was sent to the answering service. I left a message and waited for a call back which I did not get so I made one last call and OF COURSE was forwarded to the answering service so I left a message with them to have my son removed from their scheduling books and patient database. They literally need to change their name from Kids First Dentistry to Answering Service First Dentistry. It doesn't even matter how good the Dr could be when you can't even get past the front office. Do yourself a favor. Skip the headache. Ill be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Awesome place!! It was only our first time visit ever to the Dentist and they scored with me! I was nervous but my two year old was a little skeptic but Tiffany was so sweet to my son, she was able to brush his teeth and he loved it! Had a scheduled appointment for my child today so I was heading to her school to pull her out. While in office, I received a phone call and was busy to answer. Within minutes, I got on my phone to realize they left me a message stating they they had to cancel the appointment and rescheduled her. LAST MINUTE!! I called back right after listening to that message and they sure didn't pick up. Left a message and they never called me back. I called them back to cancel all appointments for both kids. On their end, no "oh I'm sorry" or anything to explain the reason they cancelled. Very unprofessional, one of them always said uh huh when you say thank you, then she clicks to end the call. My experience was great once I got in there. There were some technical issues with the phone number but once I was inside they were very apologetic and made sure to attend to every need we had. Good luck getting someone to answer the phone--I always get told to leave a message. When I did leave a message, they never called me back. I've been trying for 3 weeks now. The one time they answered, they asked for insurance information I didn't have (which I could have brought to the appointment). I got it, and called back, only to get the recording to leave a message. ETA: I finally got someone, who took my insurance info, and then called back to tell us they didn't take it--which is odd, since the first thing I did was to make sure they were listed as providers. I upped the stars to 3 since it appears they care enough to call me back and to respond to reviews. They need more people answering phones--no other place has their message on so much of the time. read more

He's only 2 1/2 so he didn't do much but we were nervous about his first dental visit ever, but they were comforting and he didn't cry one bit because they were just so friendly and sweet!! This facility is extremely clean and feels fresh from the moment you walk through the doors. There are toys in the front that our girls (ages 3 and 16 months) that they loved playing with as we waited. My 3 year old played the video games they had, which was hilarious because she's never played a video game before! We were greeted with such a warm welcome from everyone there! My 3 year old is very cooperative and such a rule follower but she's still only 3. She was very scared of the dentist! I'm not sure why. They made sure that she was 100% comfortable the whole time. She didn't want to sit in the seat so the assistant, without hesitation, told me I could sit in the seat and hold her! My husband watched from the door frame while he held our 16 month old. My 3 year old didn't mind it at all, however, she didn't like the water spray and the sucker. So the assistant just had us go to bathroom so I could manually (for the lack of a better term) rinse her mouth out! So awesome! She was so happy that she got to watch trolls on the tv on the ceiling the whole time. After the appt, they gave her a gold coin and she got a toy out of the toy dispenser! She does have the start of a cavity so we are going back to get a fluoride put on top of it to prevent it from getting worse. This place is such a hidden gem. With our insurance, there isn't any awesome pediatrics dentists! This place was one of the last places on our list and WOW we have been so blessed by this place. My sister in law switched over her insurance just so she can take her two little boys here! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a dentist for their little one! read more

Came here for my daughter's first cleaning/exam and we loved it! She's turning 4 and never had a dental check up before and I'm glad we came here for our first time experience. My daughter felt super comfortable and that's a big plus for me. On the first visit in February I thought to myself, "This office is perfect! My kids enjoy the atmosphere and the doctor is nice and personable." When I asked the lady at the front desk for the HIPAA disclosure documents I signed and acknowledged I received, she stated, "We don't have any. But it's the same one you've gotten at any doctors office before. You don't really need it." It threw me off, but I figured, no big deal. (First red flag) Now today really threw me for a loop and made me realize that switching to Dr. Mahajan's dental office from Pediatric Smiles was a bad decision. The problem is Christine (or Kristine) at the front desk. I've been waiting to receive an insurance authorization for my daughter's next appointment to be scheduled. Christine stated initially that it would take up to 21 days. I called today and they still hadn't received it. She told me I could call them if I wanted and gave me the 3 authorization codes to give to the insurance company. Ive never had anyone tell me I can call if I want because they won't speak with anyone at the dental office. This sounded odd to me of course as this isn't my first time having my kids seen at a dental office but it definitely was my first time being told to and having to call the dental insurance provider. These types of matters are usually handled between providers. But I immediately called the insurance company and was told that the dental office should call and CAN call to confirm the predetermination. Not only did the live person tell me this but I also heard it on the automated system to press a certain number of you were the dental office! So Christine blatantly lied so that she didn't have to take ownership of the issue. Anyway, the rep at the insurance provider stated that is was best for Dr. Mahajan's office to call anyway to insure they have the right payer ID. So I disconnect with the insurance company and call Christine back at kids first dentistry. I informed her of what I was told and ask that she called the insurance provider so that I can go ahead and get my daughter scheduled because she's been in pain. She proceeds to tell me how they don't usually call because she could be on hold for 7 or 14 minutes and she doesn't want to do that and that she knows they have the right information because they get paid every day from that insurance company. I asked her to please call them so that we can get this resolved and that obviously they need to speak with someone at the dental office in order to confirm the right information. I told her that I've made several calls between her office and the insurance company and as a patient I shouldn't have to do her job. Customer service should be a priority. She then says, "we NEVER call insurance providers." I politely told her that I know that's not true and she has made it clear that it's a matter of her not wanting to call because she doesn't want to be on hold. This is an extremely dissatisfying experience for me as a new patient family and that she should do her job. She tells me, "What you're saying it not fair." I can't believe she tried to play victim here. I tell her I am going to consider sending my children back to their previous dental provider (the only reason I left it because it's so far from where we moved to) and she responds, "Ok" and disconnects the call! How rude! Dr. Mahajan needs to seriously train her front desk staff in matters of the office and patient satisfaction. Word of mouth is extremely important to a business and I will be posting my negative experience on every outlet that I can. Christine, simply doing your job, no matter how much time it takes, would have resolved this matter. Was 7 minutes worth it? read more

My four year old had an irrational fear of the dentist. I decided to take her here since children is their specialty. I told her we were going somewhere fun and she wasn't disappointed. Be weary of this place. Looking to put fees on clients but cancel appointments for their benefit. Office calls us, only rings once and hangs up. I personally right away called back 4x not a answer. This morning my wife calls to see what work is being done. She had to call 10x just for a answer. Then they tell her, her appointment is cancelled they called 3x yesterday which is a lie. Then they said they can take her at 2:30. Well I had to cancel half days work so I could take her today as my wife has a new born. I have to work. This is why we make appointments. Office has no problem charging $50 when your 10 min late. We never were but we have seen other unhappy people leaving and being charged. Do I get $50 since you cancel on me last minute? Im sure the Doctor would have made things right but the older lady up front is extremely unprofessional and a attitude problem. You lost all 3 of my kids. read more

Kids First Dentistry, I do not usually take time out of my busy schedule to inform a business of how poorly I believe they have functioned as patient care providers. However, due to the exceptionally reprehensible care my son received at your dental office, I am making an exception. I brought my four year old child to your place of business because he was experiencing pain in two of his rear molars. He was quite fussy and tearful. After minimal effort on your dental assistant's part to obtain x-rays from him, your dentist briefly glanced at his blurry x-ray, made the determination that he had an abscess, and declared that he would need antibiotics and a repeat appointment to be administered sedation in order to have his dental work performed. As an ICU nurse for ten years in a trauma one hospital, I questioned the monitoring parameters and credentialing of the team involved in administering sedation to my small child. Your dentist briefly told me that the team that would be present for his procedure was properly credentialed, and then promptly stated that my four year old would need to be admitted to Wolfson's Children's Hospital to be placed under general anesthesia so that he could have his x-rays and dental work performed. It is no coincidence that this determination occurred after I gently mentioned my own credentials. This was unacceptable to me considering he was not acting out and was merely tearful. I quickly removed my son through the waiting area (blaring music which contained suggestive and foul language) and to my vehicle for a second opinion. Amazingly enough, the wonderful people at Safari of Smiles were able to quickly and easily accomplish what your staff was not. They obtained quality x-rays, administered nitrous oxide and numbing agents, and extracted the tooth quickly and easily. My son told the dentist he loved her when she was done. Your practice should request some training from this facility. Thank god I had the good sense to obtain a second opinion. No child should unnecessarily be given dangerous medications in bacteria filled hospital environment. read more

Horrible. Billed our insurance for things that were not even covered, didn't even discuss with me (the parent) or get authorization. My son's went in for a simple cleaning and X-rays, that is completely covered by our insurance, besides the $50.00 deductible. Will never be back nor recommend their services. read more

2 stars - It would be one but the nurses are soo nice. My son had a procedure done at this location. I called the office multiple times about getting a pre-determination submitted for the procedure. They ensure me they would do it. When the pre-determination was submitted one of the procedures was left of intentionally because they stated that it was there policy to not submit at "most" insurance wont cover it. My insurance does cover it and even if they didn't my insurance has a set rate agreement with them to only charge a certain amount and not the amount they were attempting to charge me. I am now having to file a formal grievance with my insurance company to remedy this matter that could have easily been prevented with Kids First Dentistry properly submitting the code for the procedure. Feels as though they are trying to get more money then they are contracted to get from the insurance companies with the set rates that they agreed to. read more

I have 2 sons that go to Kids first dentistry...i had a follow up visit booked for them for 4pm and 4.30pm on a wednesday afternoon which I booked months in advance because my schedule is very hectivc..I was coming off a flight that day and my flight was delayed because of the rain and as soon as I got to jax airport I called kids first dentistry to advice them that I will be about 20mins late for the 4pm appointment...A christine from there called me back saying that 15 mins is the latest that I could be and if I was later then I would have to reschedule..I told her about the 4.30 appointment and she said that both appointments were 4 pm eventhough I got an email to advise that 1 of my sons was scheduled for 4pm and the other at 4.30pm..She said that she could talklk to dr Mahajan which she said she did and that upon her advice I would have to reschedule , and the next available appointment was more than a month out...I literally begged her to see if there was anything she could do because at this point I was rushing to get there but with no care or concern, she chuckled and said that there was nothing she could do for me to to be seen that day...This is very poor customer service and just the discourtesy was uncalled for and unnecessary. read more
