Dr. Forletti is great. He's a good doctor who listens to my concerns but sticks to medical advice and doesn't try to give parenting advice, I hate pediatricians like that. I've never had trouble getting a last minute sick visit. Wait times aren't great but honestly, I've never been a doctor who didn't make me wait around at least 10 minutes. I usually go to the Wading River office, closer to my house and more convenient for me. Edit to add: also, if you are a parent of a boy who chose to leave him intact (AKA not circumcise), Dr. Forletti, unlike many misinformed American doctors, knows that you do not retract! I have been going to the Port Jefferson office for about 6 years, because it was so close. The first couple years, all was well and there were a few decent doctors, however in the last 3 years, most of those doctors left and the whole practice became highly unprofessional. I've had to wait to be seen every single time, up to an hour after scheduled appointment time. They rarely run tests beside strep tests to thoroughly check what's wrong with you and don't take the time to talk to you about possible causes, medications, etc. And perhaps even more concerning is that they've tried to pressure me into getting some sort vaccination every single appointment. I've had every required vaccine there is and they still pushed me to get additional ones. Dr. Forletti yelled at my 11 year old sister for refusing an optional vaccination during a physical and Dr. Newshots was rude to me when I simply asked her to run a test. Having such bad experiences with doctors has given me a lot of medical anxiety however we are now at a very good practice that is starting to restore my faith in the medical system. They are more pharmaceutical sales-people than doctors, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

This practice is absolutely terrible. Thier support staff is incompetent at best. The number of issues we've had over the past few years is outrageous. We've only stuck with them because we haven't found a better practice yet. I highly recommend you look elsewhere if you are looking for someone to treat your kids. read more

My younger son has been a patient of Kids First Pediatrics since his original pediatrician retired in 2007. We started in the Wading River office, but found we really liked the staff+service at the Port Jefferson office better, even though it's a longer drive for us. Separate areas for Sick and Well kids. Brilliant. I wish MY doctor's office did that!!! Even though it seems that, starting about 4 years ago, we're being seen by NP's and not the same MD's, I still have the same confidence in the care we're receiving. I say "we" because I'm an admitted 'helicopter mom,' and they are patient with me and answer all of my questions, AND they talk to my son and take his account of symptoms, etc., into consideration. THAT made me feel less anxious when it came time, when he was 16, for them to have the 'parent-free portion of the exam,' where they had him undress a little for specific exams. He's 19 now, and asked to move over to the same doctor as his older brother, so we'll be leaving, right after flu season. This practice was wonderful in diagnosing his asthma, and teaching us how to use his nebulizer and "puffer," how to recognize when an attack is coming on+what to do, and (most importantly,) how not to back away from playing wind instruments or sports just because of breathing irregularities! I can understand the reviews that are unhappy with the inability to get an appointment that is accommodating, but, when you think about it, it's preferable to being told to come in at, say, 11AM, and be made to wait 90 minutes with a sick child. I've never waited more than 30 (15-20 in the waiting room, and 10 in the exam room. Yes, I timed it. I was a Medical Asst., and I know that trick.) When we first went into Kids first, we were happy with the layout. Office is very clean, and the number of PA's, plus with the two Dr's. We were impressed. We interviewed Dr. Forletti when my wife was still pregnant with our first. He spoke fast, but seemed thorough, and friendly. Fast forward 3 years, and 2 kids later... He missed that my son had croup, who then gave it to my 15 month old daughter and she had to be hospitalized. He miss that my daughter had a common cold, when she was just 4 months old. Now, my son has been coughing for 5 weeks, and his excuse was that it is just a cough, and it will go away. We went back 6 times, for this cough, which is now joined by a 102 fever, and he insisted it was nothing. We changed Dr's, who knew nothing of our previous experience with our last Kid's First. She immediately recognized his problem, prescribed antibiotics, and sent us to an allergist. As it turns out, my son has basically a sinus infection, which has now turned into early childhood asthma! We have to give him a nebeulizer every night, and it could've been prevented, if the sinus infection had been caught earlier. ( at least that is what the new Dr. said) Beware of this office, as it seems great... but my daughter was hospitalized due to their negligence, and there is a good possibility that my son will have asthma due to the constant coughing since JULY! read more

Dr. Forletti was highly recommended by our colleagues when we moved here 8 years ago. My daughter was not a easy kid when she was little, frequently required medical attention. We always can get in for urgent visit to avoid ER visit, and the waiting time was not short but reasonable. We met multiple physicians, PAs and staff, they are all friendly and helpful. School /camp forms are back quickly. I am very happy with them. read more

I love this place. I love the tablets they use for check-in, I love the separate entrances for sick and well, I love the receptionists and the medical assistants, AND the doctors themselves are great! Our kids are 9 and 11 and don't want to be patronized -- and these doctors respect them and treat them like young men. Getting school forms and immunizations is the main thing we seem to need, and they make it EASY and they NEVER make you feel like you're being a pain, which is GOOD! Love them. read more

Absolutely horrible place! Office staff is rude. Doctors and PA's have no bedside manner. They are not accommodating to making appointments. They were so bad they kept my insurance card for almost a year. I thought I lost it and had to get a new one. They handed it back to me at a check up like it was nothing and no apology. After that we left the practice and they charged us a ton of money to copy charts. read more

Have gone to this practice all my life and now as an adult, I went in for a simple reason. A possible cold or sinus infection due to severe pressure in my sinuses, head, ears and throat. Shouldn't need to see a specialist for that. Nurses at front desk were extremely inattentive and my presence as the only human in either waiting room was blatantly ignored. Had to ask several times for their attention to turn away from their screens. Not even a hello. The doctor I saw after 30 minutes of waiting in the exam room failed to even check my temperature. She told me I wasn't sick despite my obvious symptoms. She didn't know the name of a single OTC cold remedy and told me to try a steamed shower. I haven't been to a doctor in quite a few months so I mentioned a few other unrelated ailments that had been bothering me for some time and she shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know what to tell you." Not a single recommendation for a solution or who to talk to for help. I mentioned some more serious issues concerning me and she laughed and shrugged her shoulders again saying "I don't know." I've never felt so disrespected by a health care provider. I will never return to this practice read more

Wait times are insane! We've waited over two hours (in the exam room) at several appointments. You can never get an appointment with the doctor you want, and even if you do, they will switch you without asking. Not happy with our experiences here... read more

Worst place ever! I've been here several times I've the past couple years with the little one and the only consistent thing is being ignored by the reception staff when you arrive! When you stand there and listen to a very non-important conversation that can be stopped and then picked back up later after helping the patient/ customer, this is ridiculous! If this was the first time sure but it's consistent! They are unprofessional and you never see a doctor always a NP... crappy place stay away.. This is our last visit to such a sub-par provider! read more

I do not know how anybody can give this place more than one star. This place is poorly managed, the nurses at the front desk seem to like to argue with you, and there is a revolving door of nurse practioners at this practice and that is who your kid will see the bulk of the time. The times that most parents can bring their child to this office the actual doctors are not there. I am not saying that nurse practioners are bad, but we never saw the same one twice. We waited for our last appointment for over an hour. Twenty minutes after our appointment time passed (we showed up ten minutes early for our appointment by the way) they gave us paperwork to fill out. Forty five minutes after our scheduled appointment time a nurse comes out and calls my daughters name not to go to an exam room but to get a urine sample in a cup. My daughter is 4. We were never told about this when we were called to confirm the appointment and they could have told us this when we walked in the door not 45 minutes (really 55 minutes) after the appointment. They are poorly organized and I fear due to this they will not care for my daughter the way I want them too. We no longer belong to this practice. The first two years were great. My daughter woke up complaining of a pain in her belly. I was not surprised as she was at track and field camp the night before and I thought she had pulled a muscle. As the day went on she complained more and more so I called Kids First Pediatric to make an appointment with Dr. O. They gave me an appointment right away and when I arrived which was 15 minutes earlier than the appointment they took me in right away. After Dr. O finished with the exam she turn to me and said " I believe this is her appendix that is giving her pain. Take her to the ER immediately" I couldn't believe what I was hearing but I went right away anThank God because as it turned out after the hospital did there testing my daughter had emergency surgery not only for her appendix but for a hernia!!!! I want to thank Dr. O and all the staff for helping my daughter with something that could have been very serious if not caught when it was. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND KIDS FIRST PEDIATRICS...DR. O and Dr. Forletti are two excellent doctors and my daughter says "THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME FEEL BETTER". read more
