This store did a scan on my feet and I could see where the difference was from one foot to the other causing the misalignment. My salesperson, Tony, was amazing with helping me. He walked me through how their product would help shape my feet with the arches they originally had by strengthening my muscles in those areas. I walked out the store wearing everything and I physically felt less pain than when I went in. I'm grateful for that and even more so the process of getting my feet back into alignment with the rest of my body.

WORTH IT!…read more So I've lived with autoimmune disorder pain since 2014 and have also had heel pain in both feet since I was 7 (learned about the bone spurs only after a fall in my 40s which led to foot xrays which validated the pain I've walked on for decades is indeed real and valid because it was causing me daily suffering) The Orthopedic Sports Doctor who looked at my Xrays and immediately said you've got huge hone spurs and your autoimmune flare is sharpening that pain, of course you're in terrible pain after a middle aged tumble that knocked both my shoes off. Anyway they recommended visiting the Good Feet Store in Columbia where I met a new lifelong friend named Kenny. Kenny listened to me and offered empathy and unlimited good humor while we performed my evaluation. Thank yoy Kenny, you offered me compassion when I was in great pain, kindness is a rarity and you offered it to me. Thank you sir, you are awesome! It took about two hours total but I walked out of that store in far less pain than I'd walked in with. Imagine walking on bone spurs for decades thinking the pain was normal, especially since my parents dismissed it as "growing pains" while I was growing up, so I got really good at enduring pain. Then my adult body developed autoimmune disorder (Body Keeps the Score) and more pain followed. Until I got the arch supports my poor feet needed. I, a grown ass man, wept tears of joy walking around with my feet and body finally in better alignment. All my pains eased to dull ache from a lifetime of hobbling myself to endure another day of pain (my idea of "paying the iron price" for life). All that pain, eased by arch supports... After a decade spent with doctors treating and medicating other parts of my body. To ease my chest pain I needed to care for my feet, isn't that silly? Holistic healing? That's life, cruelly simple and yet we cage ourselves with our perception of "how much pain is normal to survive" from childhood. So anyway, now I'm walking around in little to no pain and am in great spirits regardless of having to relearn how to walk (correctly aligned this time) I hope arch supports become a human right some day. Our foot pain dictates so much, I'm embarrassed it took me so long to find this relief. And I had to wipe out my HSA and max a credit card to afford it. Totally worth it, as the children would say "all gas no cap". If nothing else, go for the consultation and use the foot massager they have, it oscillates instead of vibrates, and relieved pain I didn't even know I was feeling. I received a coupon in the mail so decided to check them out. Upon arrival, I was acknowledged and greeted by an associate and he said to let him know if I needed assistance. Unfortunately, owning comfort shoes typically means you sacrifice style. The selection is more suitable for mature or conservative clientele. One of the staff members even let us know that Vu Skateboard Shop had the opportunity to collaborate with New Balance and produced an amazing shoe. In addition, they have a rotating variety of deck sizes ranging from 7.75 to 8.25 for the prebuilt completes. They offered a lot of name brand options for all kinds of parts but also offered quality shop board options for a cheaper price. The service was excellent as the staff member present was very helpful and answered any questions we had. He was also very knowledgeable of the surrounding skate community as he knew about the other skate shops in the area and provided us with many skate park locations. Lastly, it seems like Vu Skateboard Shop is pretty involved in the community as they have hosted competition for the many college skateboard clubs in the area, promote events happening in the area, and more.

I'm not a skateboarder at all, never have been, but one thing I love about board shops is their selection of shoes. Cool colors, brands I enjoy, in styles I just don't see other places. Vu's shoe selection did not disappoint. A pair of blue New Balance high tops immediately caught my eye. The man working the counter asked if there was a pair of shoes he could grab for me to try on. I described them and provided a size. He disappeared in back and then came back with a box. He laced one of the shoes up for me while the kids and I checked out Vu's selection of hoodies, socks, boards, t-shirts and knit caps. Vu's Baltimore centric t-shirts and socks were pretty cool. My daughter loved their board designs, especially Hello Kitty, and my son was all over their knit caps. In the end we walked out with the shoes, a pair of socks and two knit caps (one for each kid). Of these items, only the knit caps seemed to be on the pricey side. Everything else was close to what you would pay elsewhere. Skateboarder or shoe aficionado? I'd suggest checking out Vu.
