Been a runner for over half a century and a roadrunner VIP for years. I've only bought stuff on line from this firm as I never lived near one. Now there are two near me and I had to check it out. First as a VIP member I had to return a pair of shoes within 90 days of purchase. This was my first time after many purchases and it was no hassle at all!!! I expected some hassle but the staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. I like the store ... clean and great layout. A chance to feel clothes I've heard so much about ... I wear orthotic as a preventative to injury and they have a new custom made quickie orthotic that is price competitive to my off the shelf (dr schols at cvs) inserts. Gonna check it out. Glad to have such a good store with knowledgeable staff near by. read more

Called ahead as I was looking to get my son fitted for running shoes and it was a weekend. I was told no problem should take about 20'mins (we were 15 mins away). When we got there it was understaffed and there was over an hour wait to be fitted and try on shoes. I get that it's first come first serve but if that's the case please tell the customer calling in advance that you are short staffed and there may be more of a wait. Will not be buying running shoes from here again. Esp given the price point and encouragement toward membership this isn't great. Also heard the manager saying to an employee saying they were backed up. Apparently the calls go to a call center. That would have been good to know in advance. read more

9.27.24 I am on the fence about how I feel about this location. I have been a customer for many years. The staff are super friendly and helpful, however, they are understaffed. At my last visit in August, I waited a while before an associate assisted me with a scan to do an assessment of which type of shoes I should purchase, stability or neutral. I requested that the scan be emailed to me, but it never was. Over the last week or two, I tried calling to request it. I tried calling closer to closing thinking it would be lighter for them to assist me. The line went unanswered after many rings. This week, I decided to call at 10 a.m. this past Monday when they open. Cerise answered and put me on hold for 12 minutes. I hung up and called again. She said it was busy and got my info and said she would return my call in 15 minutes. 15 minutes came and went. It's now Friday and still no call. I even left a voicemail later this week. The automated system said calls are returned in 24 hours. Apparently that is false. I decided to go into the store at opening and finally got what I needed. Shawn, the manager, was friendly and helpful. Two recommendations I have is that they need to hire more staff and do a better job of answering the phone and returning calls. I gave them three stars because the service when I am in the store is exceptional. read more

I stopped in early on a Wednesday , I accepted defeat with my shoes and knew they needed an upgrade. On top of the fact I am training for a half marathon. The gal who helped me was wonderful, I used the machine and didn't feel rushed or pressured into anything. I was ended up finding a show that was fit for my feet. I have the hookah Clifton's light pink! I also splurged on the comfort insoles. I ran five miles this past Saturday and the shoes fit and feel great! I did have to size up and I wonder why I hadn't done that in the past. I suppose being a 10 is large enough to me. Great customer service, wonderful experience will be back read more

Went in today and walked around for a little while and we noticed no one greeted us or offered any assistance/help. They were somewhat busy, but not overly busy IMO. So definitely room for improvement on customer service. The store itself is very nice and clean, with a good variety of shoes, apparel, and supplies. You'll have to approach staff to do FIT assessment, which my husband ended up doing. Won't be back. So many other running stores in DMV that probably will offer a better overall experience. read more

Understaffed. Guy was waiting on 3 different groups of people including me at one time. Lots of standing around waiting and not much help with shoe selection due to understaffing. Biggest complaint for me is that now, a year later, they charge my credit card $49.99 for a renewal of a VIP membership. Shady shady practice, to get you to sign up for this for $19.95 at time of purchase and when you sign there is an undisclosed terms and conditions that it will renew every year. This was an excellent experience. The sales associate was exceptionally kind and helpful even though the store was absolutely slammed on a Saturday. He listened carefully to what I was looking for and took his time explaining everything. I enjoyed getting my walk and foot analysis and the results. I ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes because they all seemed to be perfect for me. Roadrunner seems a little pricey but they carry exceptionally good quality goods. It's a comfortable store to shop in and they don't rush you in making any decisions. Roadrunner is my new go to for athletic shoes. read more

Had been planning on coming here for a few months to get fitted for a new pair of sneakers, and I'm glad I finally did! Dave helped me throughout the entire process, and he was incredibly helpful and friendly. Explained the benefits of their membership really well, which led me to decide to get one so that I'm able to return the shoes within 90 days if I'm not happy with them. Which to me was a really big plus as usually you can only return unworn shoes, and shoes are so unique to individuals and can be so expensive. read more

Been going to this location for years. Never had a problem, even recommended them to my wife, until today. I thought staffing was a problem as I waited to be helped for about 20 min then a family received immediate assistance after they walked in. Naturally, this was frustrating. I don't like to assume race influences unprofessional activity like this but I'm not easy to miss and made multiple attempts to get help before the other family got greeted and treated with shoes immediately after walking in store. Would recommend they adjust strategy for current staffing levels. One person assigned to retrieve shoes, two others interfacing with customers for specific needs in 3-5 min increments. read more

So pleased with their customer service! They were visibly busy today but I still had numerous employees ask if I needed any assistance. The man that analyzed my feet and form was professional and friendly. During the entire process (including trying various shoes on) I never felt rushed or pressured to buy something. I am not very athletic but have had some joint pain recently. A number of articles recommended shoe brands that I saw would be available at Road Runner. I was able to have a fit assessment done on the spot and try a few shoes on in person. I was helped by Milan who was very patient and helpful in answering my questions. I needed a new pair of sneakers and decided to choose wisely since I plan on logging some serious miles this season. Stopped in at Road Runner Sports in Elkridge and was greeted warmly by Humza when I walked in. We had a discussion about what I was looking for in a sneaker and since I hadn't gone through a "fitting" (probably not the right term), Humza suggested an assessment. It began with standing on a pad to analyze how I distributed my weight while standing. Once this was completed, Humza heated up a pair of custom insoles and had me stand on the insoles, squat, lean back etc. I was then turned over to Grant who brought out a few pairs of sneakers for me to try on. Several pairs later, I tried on decided on the Brooks. The store offers a VIP program for $20, which allows for easy returns on purchases. I removed a star because I think the prices of the insoles ($80; the shoes were about $130) should be disclosed early on and not at the register. I was not pressured to buy the custom insoles but after trying on several pairs of sneakers with the insoles already placed in the shoes, it made more sense to purchase them. I was just a little taken aback by the price. Highly recommend a fitting when looking for a good pair of sneakers and with the great customer service, Road Runner Sports is a good place to visit. read more

Today was the first time I received horrible customer service at Road Runner Sports. They were clearly understaffed today and not prepared for the number if customers. I waited 10 mins before I was approached by an employee. If he had not come by, I would have walked out of the store. It was a mess in there!! Shoe boxes stacked up all over on the floor in the main aisle and at different benches. Complete disarray!! The employee who approached me never introduced himself. He never asked for my name to input in his iPad. In fact, he passed it off to someone else as he approached me. I told him exactly what I wanted and he disappeared. He came five minutes later to talk to me about the insoles. He had me step on the round machine and it recorded a different shoe size. Two sizes smaller, in fact. When I asked if I needed to re-do it, he said, "No. I trust you." I then asked if he needed to look up my VIP membership, again, I got, "I trust you." He then went into the back to get a pair of shoes for me and came back. I reminded him that I also needed assistance with compression sleeves because I didn't see the size I needed. He said he would take a look in the back to see if they had the size I needed. HE NEVER CAME BACK!! After 20 minutes of waiting for him, I noticed him near the shoes with other customers. I had had enough. I left the shoes and waited in line to make my purchase. No one was at the register, so the man in front of me and I waited for someone to approach the register. A girl who had her iwn customers ended up ringing our purchases. When I got to the register, she said, "i saw 'X' helping you. I told her I didn't know who helped me because he never introduced himself and he just disappeared and never came back to me. I know the staff work on commission, so I am more livid to know he's getting paid for my purchase. I am also livid that Road Runner does not adequately carry merchandise in-store and online. While I was waiting for X to return to help me, I looked online to see that Road Runner does not carry Women's CEP compression sleeves for large sizes. They only carry sizes small (2) and medium (3). I gave the store another try recently. I wanted to find some shoes for my kettlebell class I take and saw the Hoka One One shoe online that looked like they would work. I wanted to try them on since I wanted support in the ball of my foot. I walked in, and again, no one greeted me or asked if they could help. I walked around and started looking at shoes to see if I could find them on my own. No luck. Finally, I approached an employee and asked about the shoe. She looked at me and just said no and didn't offer to help order online or anything. She was not rude, but didn't seem like she could be bothered to help beyond just answering my question. I don't understand the attitude of the employees that work here. I should not have to approach them for help with shoes since I can't really help myself with buying shoes since most sizes are in the back. I left and ordered them online knowing I could ship them back if I didn't like them. I love the shoe and have had more success shopping online. Customer service training is needed at this store. read more

I was at Roadrunners about three weeks ago. It was only a minute when I set foot into the store and Elaine was there to help. She was very helpful in determining what kind of running shoes that I needed and what worked for me in the past. Elaine has a lot of knowledge about the sport of running and anatomy and was able to recommend several running shoes and socks. I was in this store for two hours because I wanted to try on the pair of shoes that she recommended and ran on the treadmill to try them out. She also explained the customer rewards to me in detail. She was such a great help and I loved her personality! I will come back to this store to look at the running gear. What Elaine has on that day was super cute and looked comfortable and of course I am going to come back and purchase the joggers and shirt! This was definitely one of my best experiences in shopping for running shoes. Charm City Run wasn't even this helpful when I bought my last pair of running shoes with them. They don't even have a treadmill in the Timonium store. I had such a great experience that I told my cousin and sister to buy their running shoes here. read more

Shoe shopping was not my favorite activity, but here, it's easy. I came in search of hiking shoes and that was what I left with. As we entered, help was immediate. We entered, hunting for trail shoes. After requesting darker colors, the salesperson brought several shoes out. Some were far too bright, but helped familiarize me with the preferred fit. Thankfully I left with a cool pair of shoes and some hiking socks. This was a successful visit and I recommend this store. read more

This company really pushes their VIP rewards membership which charges a yearly fee. After joining in the store, twice I tried to place orders on the website and had no end of problems: the website was down and I couldn't sign in, the rewards cash that was loaded in the order did not take due to a glitch and finally my order was canceled with no notification, again due to a "glitch" in the system. I've spent close two hours on the phone waiting to speak with a customer service rep and then resolving issues just to buy two pairs of shoes. Excellent, excellent, excellent store! I went in this past Saturday morning and it was pretty busy. Being that this was my first time at their store and I wasn't sure on what type of running shoes I needed, I was told I should do a feet analysis test. The wait was about 10 minutes. I then met with a knowledgeable sales associate who had me run on a treadmill as the machine recorded my movement. Then, I stood on the balancing machine to determine the arch (or lack of in my case) in my feet as well as where my weight is distributed. After that process (took about 15 minutes), the sales associate brought out about 8 pair of shoes for me to try on (all which felt great). I then selected the one I felt was the best and was allowed to run on the treadmill again with my soon to be new shoes. Overall, it was a great experience. I left with some new running information and an order for great quality shoes (they didn't have my size in the color I wanted) for a even better price! Ordered shoes from store on Saturday, shoes arrived to my house on Tuesday. Will be returning again! read more

I had picked out what I liked but little did I know the sneakers I liked were not what my feet needed! Mike was so knowledgeable like no one I had ever felt with! Yesterday I took my husband,again mike was there and about to leave,I felt awful but I loved my experience with him so he stayed and helped!
