I do not know if it is the owner(s) or an employee. The stench seemed strongest by the back room/maybe a bathroom(?), but it was powerful throughout the small shop. It was so bad that I could not stay for more than a few minutes because I have a history of chronic bronchitis. Regardless, no consignment or antique store should allow smoking indoors; it is damaging to the products. I was appalled to see wedding dresses there on consignment. Imagine a wedding dress that smells like cigarette smoke... Anyone in the resale business knows that cigarette smoke significantly lowers the values of antiques. I know some places seem to get away with it (The Victorian House in Franklin comes to mind), but I think there are more air vents and a wider space, so the smoke doesn't collect so easily. I wish they didn't allow it either, though. It's too bad; there did seem to be a nice selection of furniture & homewares here. I'm not sure if the smoke was a one-day deal or what, but I am extremely hesitant to go back, and I would not recommend consigning there.

It is a consignment antique store where different sellers have booths or areas within the store where they can sell their own items. It smells just like an antique store, kind of musty and old. I really love that smell. They also had a room with furniture set up that was very nice. My favorite part was probably all of the antiques that they had outside. We have a farm and I am always looking for something to put out in the field or to decorate the farm with and this was really the place to go. Although I didn't see anything that we could use because I am kind of fussy about what I buy and I was specifically looking for horse related items, they had a nice selection. So, I frequent a lot of these types of shops. This was my first time visiting this one in Montville. This shop was weird, though; when I approached the store front, there was a large table full of brand new Donald Trump hats and banners. It was only Trump, not any other celebrity or politician, etc., and it was all brand new, so obviously not used or vintage. We're not talking like vintage items from prior political campaigns, etc., which I do sometimes see at other antique and consignment shops. It felt really off-putting, and it made me not want to support the business, so I did not buy anything. I just wanted to shop, not be reminded of politics, and I didn't need to know the shop owner's political stance or preferred candidate. Awkward and weird. I would not return.
