Dr Kieffer participates in study group that meets outside of 'office time' to go over tricky and complex cases, alongside other dedicated dental professionals in the area. Dr. Kieffer is a great, second-generation orthodontist. His practice is using the most up-to-date technology for imaging, materials, scheduling and patient care computer systems. Dawn has been helping me as his assistant and is very nice and very experienced. I trust them both completely with my adult braces. He has many young adults and children as patients and a few of us who are there as older adults whose teeth and bite have shifted significantly over time. We were referred to Dr. Kieffer by our trusted dentist for a consult a couple of years ago when we were living in Carmel Valley. He was awesome and didn't think my daughter was quite ready for braces, although we planned to return in six months. We ended up moving out of state, but this week returned for a visit and had an orthodontic emergency (bracket broke off on flight to San Diego). this is the best place to go for orthodontics, hands down. dr. kieffer and his staff will help you achieve a gorgeous smile, but more importantly, in my humble opinion, they're the best about informed consent. i got braces very late (circa 18-20 years old) and had so much crowding that i could not floss between my teeth for most of my late childhood and teen years. dr. kieffer initially recommended head gear and/or pulling teeth, both of which i was opposed to. he shifted my treatment plan so that i could keep all my teeth. when i went to college in northern california, i would drive home for appointments. he's that good. now that my child has crowding and teeth coming in crooked, i knew exactly where to take her because this office, and dr. kieffer in particular, are so great about informed consent. when my kid first came in, she was so scared but the dental staff let her take breaks, take her time, look at the tools, and hold up the mirror so she can watch, among many other things. they are so patient and kind. i feel like her healthcare is in great hands. two generations of happy patients! read more

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to make a change in my life to improve the alignment of my teeth for a better overall smile - in my 40's nonetheless! All 3 of my kids have been going to Dr.Keiffer for years. He is an excellent orthodontist and is always in the best interest of the patient. He did a 3d X-ray on my daughter for her teeth,and found out that she had swollen adenoids,tonsils, and wasn't breathing properly out of her nose. He referred us to an ENT who then suggested surgery to help her. He was the first dr. to realize this after years of her having sleep,speech, and breathing problems. He also looks at the whole body including the way you breath, swallow, and posture to help understand why the teeth are the way they are. I highly recommend Dr.Keiffer. Please read this review!! I can not express adequately enough how grateful my family is for Dr Kieffer and his entre staff especially how caring they all are and it starts at the top with him. We have had both our sons go to Dr Kieffer with excellent care and service over the past 6 years yet that is nothing compared to how he literally saved our youngest son from hours of delay or possible missed diagnosis after he fell off his skateboard chin first and broke his jaw in 4 places. I didn't think about orthodonture right away until my son was complaining about the retainer hurting his mouth as we were driving to the ER late Thursday night 5/15. I literally was walking into the ER when Dr Kieffer called me right back after my wake up call to him and he organized the care with the hopsital, opened his office at 12:30 AM just for us, and then treated my son and sent us down to Childrens Hospital to get the special treatment my son needed. He saved us hours of confusion and aggravation to make sure our son was getting exactly what he needed and went way beyond any expectations I had when I called him. I promised I would call him with an update and he called us just as our son was getting out of surgery to check on him. Unbelievable Dr with a great staff and his repuation is known throughout San Diego Medical Community. Our Plastic Surgeon told me to tell him hello and what a grreat Orthodontist he is.
