We were completely ignored by this breeder. We completed the questionnaire as we wanted to adopt a Klee Kai puppy. The next day, she sent a form letter which provided instructions and links to make a deposit. It also provided a passcode to a picture folder on her site to view current pups (already spoken for). The problem was the passcode was wrong. We reached out twice trying to get a good passcode. Desarie never replied back. We get that this breeder is busy. When you Google Klee Kai puppies, her website is at the top of the list. She has an outstanding page with lots of info and video resources. Sadly, it seems she is not interested in conversing with you unless you make the deposit. We probably would have done so had the passcode been correct. We were serious buyers, but not taken seriously by this breeder. Communication is key at all stages of the buying process. We were fortunate to find another breeder in the end who understood this. read more

I'm incredibly happy with my experience with Kika's Klee Kai! The time and energy that Desarie puts into her work with her dogs is admirable for sure -- I don't know how she does it! Even though she's super busy, she always found time to answer my emails and texts. I got on the waitlist for a puppy in the middle of the pandemic and the estimated wait time she gave us (6-12 months) was accurate because it took almost 11 months to get our girl Tauntaun. Desarie has her weekly "Keeping it up with the Klee Kai" livestream on YouTube where she talks about the breed, answers people's questions, and even has special guests sometimes. It really prepared us for what we were getting into. Once we got Tauntaun we fell in love immediately. She was already well socialized and took to using her pee pad right away. I loved working with Desarie and Kika's Klee Kai. The process to get Nolan (formerly Gage) was very easy from filling out the application, to putting in an offer for the puppy and then picking up my puppy. I got on the list a little before I was ready for a puppy, but I figured I'd wait it out and hopefully by the time I was ready I'd be near the top of the list. I started actively looking for a puppy in November and I finally got my puppy in April and just picked him up yesterday. Desarie was great with keeping me updated with pictures and through the live cam. Although I didn't have a color or eye color preference, I was specific in wanting a male in either toy or miniature size so that added to my wait time. Although I've only had Nolan for a day, he's been great and Desarie is always available to answer any of my questions. Definitely a trusted breeder. I did do my research before selecting Desarie. She always responded to my emails and questions within 24 hours. I do have her added on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook to keep up with all the information. Her YouTube channel is very educational (even if you don't get a puppy from her). I will say, she is very knowledgeable and professional which I appreciate. I may be biased, but she breeds the cutest AKK you'll find! Not sure if I got lucky, if it's the breed, Desarie's training or just my puppy's personality, but my puppy is definitely a cuddle bug. Drove from Sacramento and slept for 98% of the 6 hour car ride home. For crate training, she cried for maybe 2 minutes, then settled down (the first night!). A great experience for our puppy! Working with Desarie from start to finish was a fantastic experience. We were provided all of the documentation we needed to get a spot on the waiting list, provided our background and preferences - gender, coloring, eye color, etc, and then notified once there was a litter available. She provided us pictures and regular updates and once we had adopted our little girl, provided us progress reports until she was ready to go to our home. One of the best things about Kika's is the socialization the pups get from being in a busy family and other dogs as well. Our pup is super social and outgoing and we believe this had a big part of her personality and behavioral development. I had an absolutely horrific experience with Desarie/Kika's Klee Kai. To this day I still feel lots of resentment toward this breeder and it upsets me she is praised as a "go-to" breeder. At the time I reached out to her, I already had a 2 year old female I got from another breeder. However, I was ready for a second so I joined multiple waitlists (the wait can get quite long so I joined Desarie's list in addition to the list for the breeder my girl is from). I joined Desarie's list per recommendation of my best friend who has two pups from her. Before I gave her the $250 deposit, I asked several questions, I.e. if I get my second pup from another breeder, can I stay on her list for as long as I want (maybe I'd get a third in 5+ years) and I asked about transferring my spot to a friend. She agreed to both. My best friend got very sick, her two pups stayed with me regularly (days at a time, I love them like my own, she loved my pup as her own). My best friend passed away, and my friends parents requested I reach out to Desarie about their options for the dogs. (My friend had a boyfriend, who had zero financial responsibility with the dogs/never paid for vet bills or even paid for their adoptions. I know because his financial responsibility was a frequent topic of ours as she struggled to navigate it) They had always agreed one pup was solely hers and one would be his if they ever broke up. (However he was apparently on both of the adoption contracts, which was only made known to me after the following) My best friends parents requested I text Desarie to ask about the second pup. Based on past conversations it was not clear if my friend's boyfriend was the owner of the second dog or not. My friend's parents were very concerned about where the pups would go and how they would be cared for at this point. Following my question, Desarie called me. During the call, Desarie threatened to call the cops and send them to my house and take the dogs on THE DAY my friend died (the dogs were already with me for several days at that point while she was in the hospital). I hung up and requested she texted as I cried hysterically. Through text communication I told her I understand that The Boyfriend is on both contracts and he has the rights to the pups, which I relayed to my friend's parents as I know there's nothing we can do. I let her know all of our concerns with his ability to care for the dogs. To this day they are not cared for to the standard my friend would provide but what can we do... anyway. Then she had the audacity to keep my deposit when I decided I no longer want a relationship/pup with her after the way she spoke to me over the phone on the day of my friends death. And then denied me options to transfer my spot to recoup my deposit. THEN removed me from her communications. So she has my $250 and cut all communication with me so I can't even transfer my spot. Just overall seems like a bad person. Finally, I want to speak to her as a breeder: She sent my friends second puppy home at 7 weeks old (a truly reputable breeder wouldn't do this) because she is "overwhelmed" with the amount of puppies she has at one time... I have text conversations with my friend to confirm this. A reputable breeder won't have SO MANY puppies that they need to start sending them home early because of it. Please research why this is not a reputable thing you should accept when finding a reputable breeder. And please research why it's important for puppies to be around mom/siblings until 8 weeks... HORRIBLE experience. read more

Desarie is a quality breeder. I have my Klee Kai for 2 weeks and she (Leeloo.the.kleekai) is well behaved, pees/poos on the pad or outside and is a real joy and blessing to our family. I attribute this to Desarie's breeding program. From what I have observed, the program is based on passion for the Klee Kai breed and love. Our Gordon is constantly complimented on his temperament and friendliness to people of all ages. Once we knew which puppy we would be taking home, we were able to follow up with pictures since he was born, videos, and got to meet him on a video chat. Something we also found extremely important to recognize, Desarie and her family never once made us feel guilty on the day we got to take Gordon home. We were fearful, that as the breeder and family who'd been with him the past 8 weeks, they things like "we are sad to see you go". And I'm sure they were, but they didn't make us feel bad or hinder the experience of finally taking home our puppy, a day we had dreamt of for so long. Buying a puppy from Kikas Klee Kai was such a great experience from start to finish. First off Desarie puts a lot of time and effort into her breeding program and it really shows with how beautiful the dogs are.
