If you want an authentic Mexican meal than skip all the rest and go directly to Kiki's!!! My first visit to Brownsville and we had no idea where to eat. We drove around looking at various establishments and settled on Kiki's. It was late on Friday evening, but it was still packed and buzzing with people. It looked like a true local's joint and when in Rome. Hey listen it's always a good sign in my book at least. If you know what I mean. The interior is traditional with brightly colored decor and really casual, so don't go in there expecting pomp. The staff is top notch, super friendly, and we received some of the best service that would rival even fine dining restaurants. Everything is a la carte which is totally cool because it's designed for family style. Two people will be hard pressed to finish an entire order for two of chicken fajita--- trust me!!! We ordered their queso with chorizo. LOVED IT! Gooey yummy delicious. The Guac was incredibly fresh and they have the best pico I have had in a long long time. Even their chips and salsa were a cut above. Their corn tortillas are the cutest little things I have ever seen no bigger than a small women's hands. Kinda hard to make a big wrap with all the fixings. Guess you will be forced to make several small ones instead. ha ha Their rice was very flavorful, light, and fluffy and I would definitely order it again. They didn't have refried beans, but the super sweet staff pureed some charo beans and hooked me up. Not many other places would put forth that kind of effort. This was the perfect way to end our trip to SPI and Brownsville. If I ever go back to Brownsville, Kiki's will always be my first and last stop!! Don't worry if you don't speak perfect Spanish. Between my broken Spanish and our server's Broken English it was all good in the hood. =) Kiki's PLEASE come to Montgomery County Texas!!! Me encanta su comida!!!

Wonderful food! We've been searching for authentic Melon fresca and found it on our vacation to Brownsville! The salsa is amazing. Tacos Mexicanos is great. The chicken is fabulous. We could not be fuller and happier!

Wow. This place was really great. Fast and friendly service. I had the 6 tacos (half bistek and half pastor) and I was very happy with my choices. The tacos tasted really "fresh" and the queso on top was great with the avocado. Definitely will try to be back whenever I'm back in town.

I am very pleased to say that Kiki's now puts their parrilladas in to-go boxes rather than trays. Thanks, Kiki's! :)

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm that set the tone for an exceptional evening. Let's talk about the food: the grilled octopus was nothing short of perfection--expertly charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired beautifully with fresh, vibrant microgreens. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and flavor, showcasing the kind of culinary skill that can only come from recipes passed down through generations. The authentic Mexican flavors here are deeply rooted in tradition, yet elevated with a modern touch. It's clear the chef-owner has honed their craft under Michelin-starred mentors. That level of expertise comes through in every dish--from the nuanced seasoning to the thoughtful plating. And then there's the drink: La Paloma de Mi Corazón--hands down one of the most refreshing, clean-tasting cocktails I've ever had. Bartender Benito is a true artist behind the bar, blending flavors with precision and passion. He absolutely rocked that drink! The customer service was exceptional throughout. Attentive without being overbearing, every staff member made us feel genuinely cared for. It's rare to find a restaurant where both the front and back of house operate in perfect harmony. Whether you're a local foodie or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Authentic, elevated, and unforgettable. Can't wait to come back. The most important part is that if you ask for water you will get FIGI water because Brownsville water has contaminants that are EPA approved but in the long run not safe. I ordered the baked potato but it did not look like the photo. It was actually smaller than the image on the menu. With a small portion of meat. So you have been warned. Everything is was excellent. The server was quick to take our drink order but not as quick to get it to us. There are less than a handful of options for vegetarians. Not many. Their homemade tortillas are really good though. I had the tortillas with a little bit of the cheese. We are a party of two. Husband said that the mollejas and the chicharrón en salsa were good. The margarita too. Cute place. Will probably not be back strictly on the few options for vegetarians. I would recommend it to others though. Friendly, courteous staff. Edit: My original Star review was four. I'm taking one Star from them after reviewing my bill at home. We did not get 10 tortillas de harina. We got the corn tortillas that came with the food that we ordered and five (not 10) flour tortillas additionally. Five dollars isn't much, the point is that they DID overcharge us and I didn't realize it, unfortunately, until two days later.
