We stayed here for 2 days and it was a pleasant experience. We drove and got lost trying to find this place but the guy at a nearby gas station was very kind to give us directions . The castle itself was amazing and the decors make me feel like i'm back in time. I was able to use their fitness center and i feel like there were only 4 of us but i was the only one inside the cardio room (feels kinna peaceful though). The estate is huge and beautiful, it's also near a lake? but i'm not sure if you could go fishing over there (probably). The staff were all pleasant and nice, but one person stood out from all of them and that was our server during dinner named Sonya. She has the warmest smile all the time and very accommodating, she followed up with hubby because she remember him looking for a bar so she asked him the next day during our dinner if he was able to find it. The only thing short with this place is the wifi....it is sooooooo sloooowwww....i'm seeing three bars on my phone but it could take forever to upload pictures and/or google places to go. They do have one desktop near the spa for use. The rooms are cozy but modern; i like the bed set though it looked very fancy

Disappointing customer service and culinary experience, staff were very helpfully initially saying cahnges could be made with courses etc until we ordered 2 different set menus then approx.10 minutes later told us it wasnt possible said chef wouldn't accommodate after being told we could both order off separate menus. Attitude from restaurant manager was quite standoffish and that was the standard. Probably should state on menu or train staff so they know to tell customers in advance of ordering. Then staff kept a wide birth from us for rest of meal unless bringing dishes. To top it off the wrong main course was brought and I couldn't get anyone's attention to confirm so to be honest just ate it as didnt want to have any more interactions with manager. Room was nice with 2 exceptions exposed electrical wires in bathrooms and wallpaper coming of wall under the window. Easy fixes to my mind that should have been taken care off. read more

Our second stay at kilronin castle was just as pleasant as the first. At check in several of our party received free upgrades as the hotel was fairly quiet and despite being on a special rate we were treated excellently. The spa and thermal suite are sensational and we ate in both the drawing room and the restaurant. The bar food was nice but the restaurant staff and food was excellent. Will we come again? Definitely. The lake walk is lovely and not taxing and the hotel is fairly remote, which I like with Boyle and Lough Key park only 20 mins away should you need to get out. Highly recommend. read more

What an amazing place this was for a 2 night stay!!! Our stay included the 5 course dinner and breakfast both mornings, which was sensational. You can also order a less posh dinner (and drinks!) in the bar area, called the Drawing Room. All the food here tasted fresh, was presented beautifully, and the menu was diverse. Our room was phenomenal, complete with decor that complimented the castle's history with modern conveniences like a huge bathtub, heated towel rack, locked safe, and TV/wifi (though we didn't spend a ton of time on electronics because sheesh look outside the window). The estate is GORGEOUS, with a beautiful lake, some ruins of the original abbey nearby and plenty of places inside the castle to explore. It has been thoughtfully renovated to feature period artwork and decor throughout the castle. Most of all I enjoyed the very accommodating staff, who were happy to meet our every need but were "in the shadows" enough for us to explore at our leisure, drinks in hand, and take in all the beauty this place had to offer. read more

Kilronan Castle is really a modern hotel built into the frame of a ruined castle, but it's very pretty and opulent. The rooms are luxurious - nice appointments in the bathroom and throughout. The beds were lovely, too. We had a small problem with our A/C unit dripping into the room all night, but it was taken care of the next morning. The Dungeon Bar was unfortunately closed, but the Drawing Room was a nice place for a drink. We took ours down to the Library which, oddly, was mostly without books. The grounds are also quite nice for a walk, and their leisure center had a small but well-equipped fitness room. Our group enjoyed their dinners and breakfasts- the food was very good both nights, and the selection of cold and hot items for breakfast was more than adequate. One small issue was the service, which was exceptionally slow. A three course meal should not take almost 3 hours to serve and eat. read more

For me in Ireland, having an authentic experience in a castle was a dream. And I found it at Kilronan. It is a true castle, renovated to be modern, yet had that old world feel. The food was great, and afternoon tea was a delight. The grounds are kept immaculate and the rooms are spacious and fun! The spa was divine and well priced. We stayed three nights and that was great because it gave us the opportunity to enjoy the spa for a full day and a half, including the Thermal Suite. We hiked, lounged and relaxed. I loved it!! read more

We recently stayed at Kilronan Castle for 2 nights while visiting Roscommon and Sligo. Everything was of the highest quality. Our room, a family suite, was surprisingly large and well-equipped. The staff were generous and very helpful. We ate dinner in the bar our first night - the lamb pie was amazing. Don't miss the pool (more beautiful than the pictures portray) and the hike around the lake. Sligo was a wonderful day trip - about 30 minutes away. If you are traveling in this area, I would strongly recommend Kilronan Castle. read more

This was great for a 2 night stay. The location is absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed the 4k trail in the a.m. The tea was fantastic but the service a bit grumpy and slow at both tea and dinner. The front desk lady was very nice but one of our rooms was not ready until 4:30 pm. The pub food was average and breakfast typical. The view and rooms were nice I felt one night was plenty. Pool and spa looked great. I would recommend this property for a longer visit if traveling as a couple but with children or teens 1 or 2 nights is plenty. read more
