Once you enter the door, the smell of chocolate hits your nose! Kilwins offers all sorts of chocolate you can imagine. As we walked in they offered us some fudge samples. The employee giving samples was super nice and inviting. No tours available but they do offer glass views of chocolate making in the process. There are treats for everyone-chocolate, fudge, caramel covered apples, and ice cream. Great for family day adventures!

Tons and tons of yummy chocolate treats, candy apples, cookies and any sweet treat your heart desires! Nice staff offers to gift box items at no additional charge. Nice to grab something sweet on the go. I bought a giant turtle candy and it remained fresh for 3 days!

10/10 ice cream spot will come again and again!!

Kilwins is my favorite ice cream spot!! As soon as you walk through the door the smell of sweet chocolate hits your nose. I ordered my favorite flavor from my last trip to Petoskey, which was the New Orleans Praline Pecan ice cream with a fresh chocolate waffle cone made from their chocolate fountain.

Family visit to Kilwins in Petoskey, Michigan for ice cream and chocolates. This is one of the largest Kilwins with so much variety. We really enjoyed watching the treats being made and the aroma was heavenly! Best ice cream ever! The Toasted Coconut was my fav!

We enjoyed our trip for ice cream cones! I especially like the chocolate waffle cones. Some flavors seemed to melt a bit faster than others but my Traverse City Cherry was just fine!

Kilwins is like if you could eat a chocolate smile. Heather and her team of chocolate ambassadors welcomed us into their delicious world of chocolate dipped everything. The ice cream scoopers we're knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and dealt samples like blackjack at confectionery casino. Back to Heather. She is a joyful human who prepared and sliced our apple, but her true skill is connecting and enjoying conversation with others! It's awesome to see people who are truly amazing in life!

We had never heard of this place but luckily when we were driving to our hotel we saw a huge tour bus by the entrance and I thought " whatever that place is, it must be special for a tour bus to go there"!! Boy, was that the truth! We have gone there two days in a row! Just walk through the entrance and inhale!!! It smells like chocolate heaven! We tried a few samples of fudge before we settled on three flavors! We bought milk chocolate covered "sea foam " which is like an airy brittle. So good! Both days we bought waffle ice cream cones. They make the waffle cones right there! They were still warm when they handed them to us. Only get one scoop but get two flavors! I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy the 10 pound chocolate bar to share with the family at Christmas!!! They have tours but we didn't do that this time.

Very tasty products but for the price we shouldn't find hair in our sweets. Very disappointed. There was good service but they did use their bare hands to grab the chocolates. No gloves. Overall very unsanitary experience.

This Kilwins is a staple of P-town. This is a great stop to get some "Mackinac Island" Fudge. They sell a lot of it so it stays pretty fresh. They also have deals where if you buy a certain amount you get one slice free. They sometimes run out/don't have certain flavors though. Their other sweet treats are really good too. I rarely have a vacation in Northern MI without stopping in to a Kilwins for some goodies.

We weren't planning to visit Kilwins but the building happened to catch our eyes on the way to the…read moreTunnel of Trees. We quickly found out that this is the flagship/factory location and we decided to drop in on the way back down. This location is huge, and understandably so as it makes the chocolates that are delivered to the rest of the stores in the country. While we visited as the day was winding down, there were still a few people making chocolate bunnies and packaging peppermint squares in the windows. There were plenty of people inside looking to get ice cream and treats in the hot weather but the line moved fast and we were in the front in no time. Regular in a Dish ($7.99) - I almost had a heart attack when I saw how much they were charging for a regular size in a dish. I guess there's a reason they only have the menu posted up near the end of the line, after you've already selected your flavors... They also weigh the ice cream before serving it to you - a good way to control portions I suppose, but very strange to see in an ice cream shop. Is it because they want to make sure to give you a minimum amount of ice cream for the size, or is it because they want to nickle and dime and make sure you don't get a single gram more than they need to give? I'm not sure, but I know now that a regular is approximately 8.2oz. I was almost going to give Kilwins a premature 2/5 before I started eating... We went with two flavors in the regular dish - firstly a scoop of Chocolate Caramel Cookies & Cream on the bottom and New Orleans Praline Pecan on the top. On my first spoonful, I could tell that this ice cream is exceptionally high quality. It was difficult to even insert the plastic spoon into the ice cream and it took some effort to finally get a scoop out. And then lifting the spoon out of the cup, the ice cream stuck well to the spoon without any stretch or gumminess. The first impression I got as it hit my tongue - exceptionally creamy, rich and dense, with an exceptionally low overrun for an ice cream. The ice cream is sweet, but not cloyingly so. It's studded with actual pralines that are covered with crunchy candied coating, adding a nice texture and caramelized flavor. The chocolate caramel is similar in quality - with a rich chocolate flavor, sweet with caramel swirl and some soft cocoa cookie bits to round out the flavor. I have to say, Kilwins has some of the highest quality ice cream you can get. Now the problem is that I don't know if it's worth the money over small batch artisan ice cream shops, or other larger high quality chains. For example, the ice cream here costs more than Salt & Straw, Jeni's, Chocolate Shoppe, etc. I just can't image that the quality is that much higher than those places, and yet they charge more. So yes, the ice cream here is fantastic and I have to give Kilwin's a 5/5 just for quality. However, I don't feel like I can recommend this place due to the cost, unless you count it as the price of entertainment while stopping in the shop and watching the factory hum along. One bonus is that they do give out free samples of both ice cream and chocolate, so I guess that makes up for some of the cost as well? Bathrooms - Two larger bathrooms for both genders.

All the fudge is delicious and well worth it. They have a variety of other tasty treats available and upon checking out, we were given a mini portion of whatever chocolate we said was our favorite. The ice cream was also delicious. The staff very friendly. Very nice spot.

It's Kilwins old fashioned candy shop. Home of chocolate decadence. Now if we can just keep it from Dr. Abdul. You might have thought it's the ladies at this location. It makes sense. They're adorable and fun to talk to. Nobody makes you feel more welcome in their store. But alas, I'm afraid it's the high quality chocolate. It's in the candies, the confections, the fudge and of course their homemade ice cream. What a fun place to "cheat" on one's diet! While I've never walked out of here with something non-chocolate, Mrs. E. does so every visit. Today it was coconut ice cream. Proof that it's much more than just top shelf chocolate. I haven't tried it but I've seen pepperoni pizza, caramel apples and several flavours of gelato. Another excuse to sneak in here! 10/23

We found ourselves in Boyne City last night and bought some stuff from here, actually not even knowing that Petoskey is the OG location (going there today). Because I was buying fudge I was able to skip the line and purchase over on the side counter, and the lady who helped me was super nice. I haven't tried any of the chocolate yet but Kilwins is always really good. A little expensive, but good.
