The first time we read what she created we were close to tears. We were in shock that someone who was not us could capture the essence of us so beautifully. Our wedding guests were floored and honored that we invited them into the story of us through our ceremony. This review is long overdue. We found Kim because of all the wonderful publicity, reviews, and articles. When we e-mailed her she was very responsive with immediate correspondence. She worked around our crazy schedules to meet for a Skype session. We discussed our expectations and went over the script for the ceremony. We had a very casual, small ceremony. We told Kim that we would be wearing jeans and let it be her discretion what she wore. To our wonderful surprise she came dressed PERFECTLY for the occasion. She was pleasant, professional and accommodating...she was just perfect for us. Fun fact we were her first jeans wedding! When I lost my life partner , arrangements were the last thing on my mind. Kim came to me and she created the most beautiful and fitting ceremony imaginable. She spoke with me and several of his loved ones . She listened and put together a eulogy that captured his spirit and his very soul. The service was interactive, respectful of everyone present. Kim put together a ceremony that, from invocation to a close comforting us with loving poetry, left us filled with love and peace. Kim is gifted and throws herself into what she does wholeheartedly. Married July 2017: After researching for some time an African American, female officiant I was fortunate enough to find THEE Officiant, Kim Kirkley. From the initial consult to the premarital counseling sessions to the wedding, Kim was phenomenal! My favorite part of the whole process was the Premarital Counseling Sessions. We purchased a package that included 3 sessions. I am a big believer in counseling in general but wasn't really sure what to expect from the PCS. I have been with my husband for 10 years before we tied the knot and one would think I would know him well and there isn't much left to discover. Well, I was wrong. Not only did I learn more about my husband but the sessions brought us CLOSER! I cannot recommend her sessions HIGHLY ENOUGH!!!! I am so grateful for the work she did with us, which ultimately led to a beautiful ceremony. Icing on the cake, we received feedback from our guests and they said they had never been to such a "personalized" ceremony before / they normally tune out but were "engaged" the whole time. We connected with Kim so much, we invited her to attend the Reception (and she did!) :o) Kim is a beautiful person inside and out and it comes through in each interaction you have with her. After going through about ten other different people, my wife and I chose Kim to be the officiant for our small and simple civil wedding ceremony last year by the Brooklyn Bridge. She was the only officiant who was willing to accommodate all of our requests with minimal questions asked. When my partner and I started looking for an officiant for our wedding, we were hoping to find someone who would take the time to get to know us as a couple so that s/he could deliver a wedding ceremony that was truly reflective of the love and affection that we have for each other. In hiring Kim, we found that and much more. From our first meeting, we could tell that she wanted to take the time to understand us, and thought it important to get beyond the basics of just asking if we'd prefer a religious or secular ceremony. Our first meeting was a beautiful trip down memory lane, as we recounted how we met, and what we loved most about each other. Kim took notes and later presented us with a lovely personalized ceremony that included snippets of some of our most tender moments, including vows that we chose. Kim submitted a draft of the ceremony, which we then edited for length (it was going to be hot day so we wanted it to be sweet but short). Once we had arrived at the final version, Kim did a read through of the ceremony over the phone, giving us the chance to make any corrections to pronunciations or inflections. Throughout the entire experience, Kim was very professional. She answered emails promptly and showed up for rehearsal and ceremony promptly as well. We were delighted when she joined us for the reception. We have since gotten many compliments on the ceremony and particularly on how Kim presented it. We don't plan on getting married again, but we absolutely would not hesitate to recommend Kim Kirkley for couples who are looking for an officiant who will go beyond just performing a wedding ceremony but who will give you a personal experience on your special day. read more

Words cannot even begin to express how amazing Kim Kirkley is. We discovered Kim via New York Magazine early on in our planning stages. We were looking for someone who would allow us to customize a non-denominational ceremony. We also wanted someone who was personable, would get to know us as a couple, and expressed similar values and beliefs on relationships and marriage. The questions Kim asked at our initial meeting signaled that we were on the exact same page. She didn't want to know how long we had been involved with a particular church, she wanted to know why we wanted to marry each other, what we loved about one another, and what we were hoping for in a ceremony - the important questions. Kim is calm, poised, and knowledgeable. We progressed through a series of sessions with Kim prior to our marriage. She works extensively with a book and workbook series called "Getting the Love You Want" and it's incredible. We talked about communication, disagreements, showering one another with love and praise, and much more. Every session was interactive and we always took away something concrete that we are able to use in our relationship. Based on our discussions, Kim sent us a draft of the ceremony. We went back and forth multiple times - offering comments, additions, and changes. When we had collectively agreed on a final ceremony draft, Kim read us the ceremony over the phone so that we could offer her feedback. Honestly, we were in love with Kim's first draft, which was awesome, so any further discussion was mainly spent tweaking, and discussing how we and she had been since our last meeting. As you can see, Kim was amazing before we even got close to the actual ceremony! Kim, along with our on-site coordinator, organized a great rehearsal and joyfully attended our rehearsal dinner. She led a phenomenal ceremony that people are still raving about. She really helped us construct a ceremony that was meaningful, unique, and Us - and we couldn't have been happier. Kim Kirkley advertised herself as a wedding officiant. The honest truth is, she was that and quite a bit more. Kim became a friend, a confidant, a mentor and a counselor to us prior to our union as husband and wife. She offered us counseling sessions as part of her package, and I immediately thought, "well, we don't need any counseling." As it happens, Kim's sessions were extremely helpful in improving communication and understanding between my husband and I. The amount of energy and time that Kim invests in her couples is astounding and goes a long way. We could not be happier or have received more compliments about our ceremony thanks to Kim. I first watched Kim perform our friends' wedding about 6 years ago. After the ceremony, I told her that if I ever decided to get married, I would want her to be the person to perform ours. For years, when my boyfriend and I would talk about marriage, I would always say, "You, me and Kim"! LOL! Last year, I finally got my act together and agreed to marry my wonderful husband. I messaged Kim and not only did she remember me from all those years back, but she also remembered my comment at the end of that other ceremony. Our wedding was planned in 3 weeks and she was so incredibly supportive, open minded, and the "interview" process was so sweet. She truly captured who we are as a couple, understanding that although we aren't religious, we are indeed very spiritually connected to each other. We had a small, intimate wedding (15 guests), but to this day, everyone still says that this was the best wedding ceremony they had ever been to!
