This was my first claims experience and it was "Not good." We were two days into our newly purchased home when the shower water leaked into the basement and caused damage to the ceiling in the basement. Our NationWide Claims Investigator, Scott Garavalia, arrived and immediately began to pick apart the leaks asking, "Is that new?" He went on to say that the damage in the ceiling was from a previous leak. We then showed him the shower where the problem began. His defiance was plainly evident throughout the process. We understood that he needs to critique claims, but his immediate disbelief was unnerving. After some weeks of "Back and forth" with him we decided to take this matter to management, who agreed that our claim had validity and payment was due. Our lender asked that Garavalia send the payment directly to us. However, Garavalia insisted on sending the payment to the lender, who would review the entire incident again and then send payment in about ten (10) days. We informed NationWide corporate management of Garavalia's behavior toward us. Garavalia's direct supervisor intervened and had the payment sent to us, instead of the lender. The payment was very low and barely covered the cost of repairs. We added our own funds to make the damaged areas acceptably, visibly repaired. Garavalia put us through unnecessary delays and frustrations due to his obvious bias toward us, and his uncooperative behavior. Garavalia hurts the "Brand Identity" for NationWide Insurance. The whole, "NationWide is on your side" slogan is lost on Garavalia. I target Garavalia in this review because other NationWide employees I encountered were much more open-minded and professional. Garavalia was unfriendly, distant, and negatively opinionated.

Raquel made up our existing premiums out of thin air and over doubled what our cost actually is and then tried to pressure us into staying with them saying she could work a better deal. Mind you we are still with state farm just not her office. How can you make up numbers and use manipulation and scare tactics to try and have someone stay on with you. Reporting her to the state for fraud as well. This is NOT how you do sales nor is it how you treat another human being.

It seemed like everything was fine at first; I'd issued payment for a full year to satisfy my lender (for both properties) and didn't think much more of it until after purchasing a third property in December. It wasn't until I was working on my taxes that I realized I hadn't received copies of any of the policies. I called Josh to get copies only to discover that NONE OF MY PROPERTIES ACTUALLY HAD COVERAGE. I still have no idea what happened, but for four months I had tenants in uninsured properties -- two of which have mortgages, so that was against my obligation to bank to not have insurance on the properties. If ANYTHING had happened I would have been totally f*cked. Fast forward to May and now I get a bill due in June for the full year's amount, despite it saying the policy covered February 2020-February 2021. I called her office and spoke with someone about the billing who said they'd get back to me, which they never did. To be fair, not once in insuring three properties did I speak with Kandiss herself, but her team is absolutely abhorrent. I'm with a new agent now who, when reviewing the policies, informed me that they weren't even insured as the correct type of property AND they're drastically underinsured. Meaning, out of three duplexes, only one was actually listed and insured as a duplex. I don't know what is happening at this office, but they sure aren't looking out for customers.
