We hired Kim to do a maternity shoot, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
Since my husband and I are talking pretty seriously about just having one kid, I really wanted to get some professional portraits of what might be my only pregnancy! I started searching when I was at about 4 months and found a few photographers' websites and portfolios, including some from Seattle, but I preferred to support someone on the Kitsap side of the Sound - not only do Seattle-based photographers have busier schedules because of the wider customer pool, there's also the fact that one of us would have to travel, and that just adds time and expense to the whole thing!
Kim stood out to me for several reasons. I loved her website - it lets you know who she is right away. It's easy to navigate, and everything is explained upfront. Also, all of the outdoor natural light photos were really inspiring and gave me the sense that we were on the same page, because I was really hoping to do our shoot outside! That can be iffy in this area, but I could just tell she would make it work, because she had for so many other clients! We also have a lot in common - we're submarine wives who have both lived in and loved Hawai'i and are both still adjusting to life in the Pacific Northwest! It seemed kind of like a perfect match.
I will try to articulate how much I love the pictures she took. She very graciously agreed to shoot in two locations - our backyard and the little beach in our town - and she captured sweet little intimate moments between me and my husband as well as some spectacular landscape/seascape shots. Not only do we have some really special images of my pregnant belly and the two of us before we make this crazy transition into parenthood, we also now have beautiful keepsakes of the place where we've been living for this phase in our lives.
