I found Kimberlee Miller while perusing a few websites and trying to budget for our wedding. I loved her style immediately, but it was still early so I was trying not to get too excited until we had a date and venue. Then, to my surprise, we found Kimberlee again as a recommended photographer at our venue a few months later! I was so excited that I booked her ridiculously early. Kimberlee shared our excitement, offered some cool vases if we needed any for our candy bar, and explained that she ultimately tries to stay close to home because there are so many awesome venues in her area (ours was Maravilla Gardens). It's a gorgeous area, can you blame her?? I had a crazy idea for a venue to take our engagement photos and she totally rolled with it. We ended up at Hidden Treasures in Malibu (after getting permission) and then made our way to a park. Kimberlee had a lot of props, and an amazing vision. We brought some of our own but ended up loving her options too. You know how sometimes you see a photographers' work, and all the photos and poses just look the same? Hers aren't like that. She has a specific style that carries through, but she is really vocal and walks you through so you end up looking like an awesome version of you. Our photos have been described again and again as "so you" - and I like that a lot. Another great thing about Kimberlee, and I hinted at it above. There are great photographers who are artistic, but to be a successful wedding photographer you need organization and clarity for us folks who are used to sitting on the sidelines. Like a basketball coach, she makes the calls and assertively gets people lined up so your photos with the family after the wedding go quickly. This is your wedding! You need all the time you can get with your guests and she knows how to make it happen. She had a specific strategy of taking photos with the whole family and taking people out, so you'd systematically get all the photos you want. Crazy smart and fast. But the photos come out so warm and spirited, not at all rushed or "posey", just stunning. Then, her editing is just gorgeous. I flip through my wedding photos on Facebook every so often ( I actually did today) and I still love the warmth, the glow of happiness that she brings into the photos. After meeting her in person I just knew she was the type of person I wanted around on our wedding day-not to mention her photos are absolutely stunning. WOW - what a gift to have made the acquaintance of this amazing woman through a referral from friends. Kimberlee is a professional at her craft. Her ability to connect well with her subjects only adds to the quality of her photos. She captured the romantic, silly, perfectly posed as well as spontaneous moments with ease. Even our seven year old who usually has a "cheesy" grin was caught with genuine smiles. The posed extended family photos can be a bit of a challenge, but she made it so easy! I've hired Kimberlee as my photographer for my upcoming wedding in October, and I know I've made the right choice! She was on my wedding venue's preferred vendor list, and after looking over all of the suggested photographer's websites, I knew I HAD to have Kimberlee for my wedding. Her style of photography is so ethereal, classy, aesthetically pleasing, and manages to really create a feeling and tell a story. It's hard to explain, but when I looked at the other photographer's photos, they all had these sort of cheesy, forced, Sears-portrait look about them. Kimberlee's photos are natural and look absolutely effortless... it doesn't matter how shy or unphotogenic you think you are, Kimberlee knows how to make you look like a well-seasoned model. The engagement photos she took of my fiance and I turned out more amazing than I had ever dreamed! I had an idea for one of the Save the Date photos to be me, my fiance and his 4 yr old daughter in moto jerseys with the words "Save the Date" on the back of each of our jerseys, and then the date of the wedding spread across the jerseys on the back as well, with us posed with our backs turned toward her, standing in front of his dirtbike (we're a moto family!)... they turned out PERFECT!! Every one of our family and friends that got our save the date raved about how great all of the photos turned out to be, and that they were the cutest Save the Dates they've ever seen!! Not to mention we brought her to our dirtbiking location, a place she's never been, and she worked the whole area, having us pose in all sorts of places I never thought would look good in a picture, and it looked so cool! She really has an eye for this, and I'm so proud of the work she did for us. She's great with communication, very professional with her emails, and really down to earth- If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask! Wow... Seems there must be an underlying reason for such a scathing response to a justified poor review. I am glad that more positive reviews have come out of the woodworks, although one might question the timing and validity of such response. If the review is "real" then one wonders, why post now, all of a sudden? In any case, I stand by my review. Like I said, I think it would have been lovely to have worked with Kimberlee and her team, it's just unfortunate she couldn't have replied in a more timely fashion. Oh I should note that after my initial review, less than a day later I received an email with a link to an updated website, with a full host of excuses. Again, curious timing... We first saw Kimberlee's work at Walnut Grove and we knew she was the photographer we absolutely needed! Her work has such a romantic and natural look and that is exactly what we wanted. The wedding came and she just kept surprising me with all of her expertise. She was at the venue before me and took photos of me getting my dress out of the trunk. She even knew how to put my veil on when my bridesmaids got confused! Haha. She took photos of things I didnt even realize I wanted photos of! She told everyone tips for how to look their best in the photos and several of my guests asked me for her contact info because they loved her too. She's just super sweet and funny, down to earth and cool. She took away any anxiety I had. Same thing for my son's one year/Christmas photos. She was able to get amazing photos even when he wouldnt hold still & got fussy towards the end of the shoot.
