What a cool place, neon signs and cool posters on the wall. Big place with good air circulation no smell of bbq cooking. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, easy ordering system all done on ipad. We didnt try the bbq we left it for dinner time. Mozzarella corndogs were good. Chicken sandwich was dry. Fries was great. Looking forward to trying their bbq

10/10 recommend this place!! It was not packed & got a table right away on a Friday at 8pm. (Although reservations are available online!) Service was quick & the servers were so kind & helpful! Ordered our 2 beers on draft & combo A right on the iPad. Food was so yummy & there was so much of it. We left with some leftovers & full bellies. Will definitely be back!!

Disappointing update. At our last visit, we noticed the food wasn't as good as previous visits. We didn't dine here for a while and returned hoping that it was just a "one-off." It was not. So many things have changed. Notably, the quality of the meats is not the same. The prices have increased and the experience has declined dramatically. There are so many elements that were so good. Now, the meat doesn't even have the right color, the cuts are poor, the quality is down. We used to enjoy the corn cheese, filled with gooey cheese and great flavors. Now, it is more like a can of corn with a slight bit of cheese. No cheese pull here. The presentation previously included some nice vegetables to cook along side the proteins. This time, a thin slice of sweet potato was served and a slice of onion. They have cut corners extensively and it is very obvious. I am aware that costs are high and times are challenging. But, the prices are higher, this should result in a high quality experience and it does not. This was one of our favorite KBBQ spots. That is no longer the case, we will not be returning.

UGH. I love this restaurant and the staff that I had a conversation with was SO friendly and even offered me extra sauce free of charge despite the plus charge that's usually placed on them: that's customer service. I went to the restaurant to find that it was empty, so I hope that I went to this location on a time that they were slow. Regardless, any of the food items I pictured are a HIGH recommendation from me. Please check this place out if you're in the area and give it a try :)

Not bad Korean bbq, but pricy Was in the area and was brought to this location to try. Initially we only saw their kimchi box menu. but we opted for the Korean bbq, which looks like their "plus" Used to the all you can eat Korean bbq place at home, and this place does some things differently but other things not at great. They didn't offer explanations for their style of bbq. So a lot was kind of guesswork. They turned on our burners, put some egg and corn cheese into the hot plate, gave us lots of little plates and a big platter and we went to town. The flavors of their sides were good but very much relied on fats to bring the flavor. I do appeciate that they swapped out our cooking plate to a grill grid to cook the heavily sauced bulgolgi. They didn't swap it back when we went to cook the second piece of pork belly. Ended up with a hibachi by the end of things. Lots of flare ups. We did find the lard to season the grill plate...after we finished cooking. The egg was good but didn't release from the plate easily, so it was very burnt by the end of things. Compared to the local Korean bbq places around my home town, it's a bit pricier with less choice and a small increase in quality. It's okay, but I would probably do what the locals do and avoid the bbq. The boxes and other items looked really good and they were not nearly as expensive

Have wanted to check out this place, since the plus part of the restaurant is the Korean BBQ. Hubby favored ordering the popcorn chicken with the sassy. I see they don't offer their supreme sauce here only the soy garlic or Korean sassy. I was a bit reluctant to order the Tteokbokki, since I have never had well executed Tteokbokki from any Kimchi Box Novi or Troy location), yet. Our waiter noted to make sure the rice cake is a bit more harder and chewier. Also ordered the 12 piece popcorn chicken with supreme sauce, kimchi box plus rice with chicken instead of sausage and 2 hot teas. $40.28 The Tteokbokki was soft, you can tell when you grab the rice cake with your chopsticks and it easily squishes into the cake with hardly a squeeze. The first one was soft, the second try was still soft, but not as soft, still not the al dente we prefer though. Gave up after two tries and still falling short of how we like our tteokbokki. The tteokbokki sauce is good at least. The popcorn chicken is as expected, crispy on the outside and a bit overcooked on the inside. The supreme sauce is good. The banchans: pickled radish, fish cake and kimchi. Kimchi box plus rice with added chicken was good.

Was searching for a place to eat late night on a Sunday. Extremely glad we were able to find a place open until 10pm as a lot of places close early on Sundays. Got here around 8:50pm and we were told BBQ was not available as it was too late and the kitchen closes at 9:30pm. We were okay with this and went through the menu to order few dishes. As it was a late night on a Sunday, we only saw two other tables besides us and they even were gone by the time we were digging into our dishes. Got Soon Doon Boo, Jeyuk Kimchi, Jjajangmyun and Savory Seafood Pancake with plenty of side dishes. Started off with Sapporo draft beers and they were ice cold refreshing! Best way to end a long day. Unfortunately, Yukae was all out so we were not able to have it. Maybe for the next time. All the dishes came out soon enough and met my expectations of Korean food. Soon Doo Boo seemed to be a little spicier than expected. Maybe could have asked for mild spiciness. Overall, good food, fast and friendly service, clean atmosphere! Music was kind of out of place with Spanish music blowing out towards the end of the dinner but no biggies!

Over the last few years, Kimchi Box has opened several locations nearby so I had been promising myself a visit. It had been a while since I viewed the menu online so I wasn't sure what to expect of this new location. Note that this place is billed as Kimchi Box + Korean BBQ so there is greater variety here. The restaurant was relatively empty when I arrived but take-out was going strong. Every table included space/equipment for the typical communal, self-serve barbecue; a shiny new air vent system is above each table. I always like to try things I've never had before, so I went with the seafood pancake as a starter and the spicy pork bulgogi box for the entrée. I savored the seafood pancake; it was light and delicious, with thinly sliced squid and baby shrimp. I liked the spicy pork bulgogi box a lot. First, I like sampling different things, and the bulgogi box offered exactly that. The thinly sliced spicy pork was flavorful and not too spicy. It was accompanied by japchae (a stir-fry of glass noodles, veggies, and beef), salad, rice, and a fried gyoza. Second, it was a lovely combination of tastes, textures, and temperatures. Service was great. I plan to return for the Korean barbecue experience.

The husband and I had an urgent need to get something for lunch before going to Trader Joe's to avoid buying out the whole store and walked into this Kimchi Box location hopeful they would have a table. They were booked solid, but they said they have space at the counter if we wanted to order from the non BBQ menu and we happily took them up on that. It didn't seem like people usually sit there, but they treated us to excellent service nonetheless and set us up with menus and brought banchan (little side dishes of mostly pickled veggies of varying spiciness and/or sweetness) while we made our selections. We got Duk-Bok-Ki (ttaekbokki) and it was perfection with a spicy, slightly sweet sauce with chewy rice cakes, boiled egg, and fish cake that hit the spot and kept us from going of the rails during our Trader Joe's haul. We will definitely return with friends to try the K-BBQ experience soon!

$35 for all you can eat Korean bbq. This includes several appetizers as well. Meat selection is more limited compared to Kpot but the choices are pretty solid. Our favorite was the chaldol (not marinated) and beef short plate (marinated). Comes with good amount of banchan including my favorite the potato salad. Doesn't come with white rice and they do not have a sauce station where you can make your own sauce. Instead, you're provided with a sesame oil/salt dipping sauce and samjang as well. Service was pretty good in the beginning when it wasn't busy and our server was attentive but once the restaurant filled up it was challenging to get the servers attention and he hardly came by anymore. I thought the restaurant was well ventilated as I didn't leave with all my clothes and belongings smelling of smoke.

I love the Kimchi Box because it gives you a great aesthetic with the fact that you can actually make your own food. They have grills right in your table. I like the fact you can choose your things. The stuff is really friendly and helpful and I think that I will be back for more. I know there's a bunch of Kimchi boxes establishments around Detroit but I really just wanted something different and I found it here. I will definitely stop in again. read more

Great place to eat for an informal quick bite or fun meal with friends. If you love meat and looking for something different choose any of the BBQ dishes, Combo B is good. I've never been dissatisfied and the food is very good especially Popcorn Chicken w/ 2 sauces- Korean Sassy & Soy Garlic, Steam Pork Dumplings. Ask Steve( Bartender) for any newly created special drinks Be warned the Popcorn Chicken is addictive with larger "nugget-sized" pieces rather than "bite-size". We decided not to cook and ordered off their sit down menu items. They provided Generous meat servings with authentic Asian ingredients, flavor & freshness (meats & vegetables) No holding back on kimchi, radish slices & leafy green veggies. This was a great restaurant. Fresh food. Very flavorful and excellent service. Very friendly staff. We had never been and they were so helpful and kind. Keep in mind the meal for two could easily feed 3 or 4. Also plan time to enjoy the experience of the BBQ process. This can be a nice slower dinner with friends. read more

It is extremely pricey for what you get. My wife talked me into taking 3 other people there for Korean BBQ, myself I ate some of the rice but the fatty cheap cuts of meat I pass on. The side dishes needed some help. I could have taken them to a decent steak house for less if I knew they would order beef. The entire time you sit at table your legs are forced to the side of the table by the the gas lines and bottom section of the cook top . I dropped $250 at 3pm . After I got home made myself something to eat. I will never go back to this place read more

We tried KPot Korean BBQ the weekend prior and it was a huge disappointment. Still craving Korean BBQ we decided to try Kimchi Box Plus this weekend. We started our meal off with the steam pork dumplings. Some of the best dumplings we've had in a long time! We then had the Korean BBQ Combo A. I was a little annoyed at first that the staff was cooking our food for us as we enjoy doing this part ourselves. However, our waiter was guiding us to what sauces go best with what meats, how to combine the lettuce, sauces and side dishes like traditional Korean meals. The corn cheese is to die for! His suggestions made our meal even more enjoyable. My daughter and I enjoyed Kimchi Box Plus so much we are already planning another visit and plan on bringing other family and friends with us! read more

Phenomenal in every way. The double-fried wings have a satisfying crunch. Korean Sassy sauce has a sweet, memorable flavor with a little spice in the aftertaste. The tacos are respectably filled for the price; four of them would definitely make me full. I found the Kimchi tacos (sautéed kimchi + tofu + corn tortilla) to be more rich in flavor than the bulgogi tacos (beef bulgogi + lettuce + red onion + corn tortilla). Highly, highly recommend to someone looking for a Korean food fix!! read more

Everything was wonderful at Kimchi Box Plus when we went for a late lunch the day before Mother's Day. We went for the 2 person KBBQ and we had a lot of food. Everything tasted delicious. The staff were super kind and helpful. The restaurant is bright and spotlessly clean. The lychee martini was excellent. It was a lot fun cooking the meat and we had a lot of assistance. We never felt silly for needing help, the servers were so lovely. This location is a million times nicer than the regular Kimchi Box in Novi. read more

Came here again, with a different experience unfortunately, staff felt overbearing, kept asking over and over to change our grill. claiming the meat would burn on the grill or that we couldnt grill certain meats on certain grills, and without trying to sound rude of course our question was "why?" because 1) the meat juices on the plate mix together, mixing marinades anyway (which were causing the burning) 2) is it that bad if they burn? Weve been to other kbbq places and they offer to change the grill if it burns, but never told us we couldnt grill certain meats on the grill because of that. To be fair we did ask to grill the meats ourself, only because we do not like eating the same meat all at once, and when they grill it for you they put ALL the same meat on at once (we ordered combo B) and it allows us to go at our own pace. All in all it made us uncomfortable, and we will probably not be visiting again despite the quality of the food, which is actually very good. This probably is not a problem for everyone but made our experience less enjoyable. read more

I ate there tonight with my son and his girlfriend who are Korean bbq addicts. Their food is outstanding and the ambiance is okay. But, for some reason, the staff wanted to cook our food for us and kept fussing over our grill top. It was soooooo annoying. Someone stopped at our table about every five minutes. It was excruciating. I will never eat here again. read more

Ate there for the first time today, I found a nickel size crunchy bug in my food, manager came over and said, Yep that's a big. He took the bug (which by the way had legs and it's antennas) back to the kitchen. The waitress came back and said, Oh no, it was not a bug, it was a chunk of dirt. When they first opened, the authentic atmosphere and food was wonderful. After covid atmosphere is cafeteria - style and the recipes are inconsistent. Food is still delicious and well prepared, but you might not get what you asked for. Service was effective. read more

The best new Korean BBQ. I have tried many Korean BBQs around the area and they all pale in comparison to this restaurant. The pork belly, bulgogi, and brisket are amazing. Don't miss out on the pineapple soju. The SERVICE!!! Is impeccable. They cook the meat for you and give you great tips on how to best pair your sauces and sides. The ambiance is so great, they have air vents above the stove so that the surrounding area doesn't get so smokey. 10000/10 recommend!!! Thanks Mingu! read more

I was very disappointed. I found this place based on a recommendation from another patron after a 3 hour wait time at a newer similar establishment in Novi. The building and ambiance are nice, however it is a smaller venue. When you walk in you are presented with 3 different menus, so if it's your first time it will be very overwhelming and confusing. I ordered the Karage(Korean fried popcorn chicken) and a side of fries attempting to be relatively safe as it was a new experience for me. My chicken came out ice cold and tasted like grease from a week ago, and so did my fries. I cut a slit into one of the pieces of my chicken, and sent it back and was told it would be remade. Wouldn't you know, the same cold chicken I had gotten before came right back to me and tasted even worse than before, after it had been redropped in the same grease or microwaved. The best part of my experience was the bottle of Peach Soju. Overall the staff were relatively friendly and the building was nice but for a 50 dollar lunch I was extremely disappointed and would not go back or recommend this to a friend. read more

The chicken in every dish is dry, lacking taste and not satisfying. The beef dishes are ok. The amount of ground beef in the dishes is small, they could add some cheese, more flavor to augment the dish or something. The salsa is a bit too tomato saucy. I do like they have a few hot sauce bottles at the table, that's always nice. There are pluses to coming here, but the food will fall short.
