STAY AWAY!! If I could give this practice 0 Stars I would!! I only went back to them for a tooth…read moreextraction because my previous experience several years ago was positive. Wow, their way of doing business absolutely couldn't be any WORSE! On the very morning that I was scheduled to have a tooth extracted rby Dr Faerber their office called and cancelled me without reason and with 1 hour notice!! NOTE: If I could delete my positive review from 2 years ago, I definitely would!!

The day of She wanted to send her with her grandmother and was told grandparents could not take her. I was off work and wanted to take her and they said no to that as well since I'm her step dad. So my wife had to take the afternoon off last minute to take her. They could have told her that when She scheduled to avoid the hassle. They waited 55 mins to be seen by the assistant and never saw the doctor. Appt was at 12:45. They arrived at 12:47. A woman came in after them with an appointment for 1:30 and was seen before them and only waited 15 mins. She finished her appt before they were even called back. They got called back at 1:40. When they finally got called back the assistant explained that it was going to cost $425 out of pocket for a mandatory CT scan that insurance would not cover. Again, this needed to be told to us up front as we have never been charged for this out of pocket by any other specialists given the cost of service we end up receiving. Given this My wife and daughter left an hour after we arrived without seeing the doctor. Absolutely terrible experience and customer service. Very unprofessional and lacking in transparency and communication. They were very adamant about my wife taking her herself, yet negligent in communicating fees or seeing us in a timely manner. Awful experience from a place that we had high expectations for.

If you're thinking about going to Oral & Facial Associates, I strongly recommend you take a minute…read moreand read this, because my experience with their practice administrator, Christy Loudermill, was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional encounters I've ever had in a medical setting. I went into this office with a confirmed price -- written, verified, and repeated back to me. I did everything right on my end so there would be no surprises. Unfortunately, the surprise came anyway, and it came in the form of a completely different, significantly higher bill. When I reached out for clarification, Christy Loudermill, who I was told was the "billing manager" (which already confused me, considering her title is practice administrator), handled the situation in a way that was honestly shocking to me. Her response came off cold, dismissive, and completely uninterested in the fact that their mistake had real consequences for me. Instead of taking ownership or offering real help, the explanation was basically a quick brush-off labeled as "human error," as if that magically excused everything. What made it worse was the tone -- like I was the inconvenience for asking why I was suddenly expected to pay far more than what Christy herself had confirmed. There was no sense of accountability, no recognition of the office's own miscommunication, and absolutely zero acknowledgment of the impact this caused. The entire situation left me feeling like accuracy and transparency simply weren't priorities for her. And the fact that someone in the office even referred to her as the "billing manager" just added to the mess. When the people working there can't even get titles straight, it says a lot about how disorganized things are behind the scenes. My opinion? If this is how the practice administrator handles problems -- with confusion, deflection, and an attitude that the patient should just swallow the difference -- then the rest of the office is likely following the same example. This review is based entirely on my experience, but I feel strongly enough about it to warn others. You deserve a medical office that honors its own quotes, communicates clearly, and treats patients with respect -- especially when the mistake is on their end. I won't be returning. And I hope this helps someone else avoid the headache, the runaround, and the dismissiveness I dealt with from Christy Loudermill at Oral & Facial Associates

Any time I needed to call them, had to call multiple times due to no one answering phone. On day of procedure before starting, discussed an impacted tooth and that they could expose and move said tooth since they were already in his mouth. They never said it would have an additional charge until after the procedure was done then said they would advise of amount after sending to insurance. 1.5 weeks later I get a bill for nearly $1,300.00 which was more than I paid for the 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. They refused to discount the additional charges, which were not covered by insurance. They only supplied a little gauze for after care. Other surgeon offices provide enough gauze for full aftercare as well as ice packs. I was treated as if this place only wants your money, they do not care about the patient or treating people like human beings. They also switched the location from where I made the appointment, but no one told me this until the day before when they called to go over what to do before coming in.

They also warned me about the chance that they could accidentally dig into my nerve and caused me to loose feeling in my jaw. They also warned my about drinking soda, drinking out of straws or doing anything that could cause suction because it could cause my blood clots that would be in my sockets to pop out causing dry socket. They didn't do any of those things and i listened to all the instructions so none of those things happened, but it was nice to be warned and be aware about what could experience. The nurse and the doctor were all very nice. I got to listen to music on the radio while my wisdom teeth got out/got put under which helped me be calm. The only thing bad was the receptionist, but besides that everything was great. They also stitched up the holes in the back to prevent food from getting in and promote fast healing which I have bever heard of an office doing before, made me way less anxious about eating after! They told me about how it would help and that it can prevent dry socket! I had a fairly involved procedure done near the end of 2024, removing a cyst from my jaw (hey, too much HIPAA!) and Dr. Oakley was extraordinarily thorough with the process. I have been back for follow-ups several times, getting X-rays and consultation with Dr. Oakley. He is always thorough, explains everything at my level, and is available for me to contact him should I have any issues. Absolutely top-shelf doc! His staff is friendly and helps to accommodate your schedule, they take most insurance, and they work with you during the entire process. While I hope that you don't have to have an oral surgery procedure, just know that if you do, this is one of the best places you can go in the Kansas City area.

My initial experience was horrible, I had an appointment set for 10:15 I sat in the waiting room for roughly 40 minutes before being called back, I sat in the exam room with my mom. There were 2 chairs around a computer at a table, and one chair in the far corner of the room. My mother and I sat in the two chairs at the table. After waiting an additional 15 minutes for any sort of human contact... a nurse walks in the room- she looks at my mother and says "cant you see that this chair is meant for the doctor, hence its next to the monitor..." my mother was shocked. My mother got up and moved to the isolated chair in the corner and asked how long it would be until we got the x-rays and the consult because we both had to get back to work. The nurse stated " he will be in as soon as he has a free moment you havent been here that long." My jaw dropped at this woman's just horrible attitude. Another 10 minutes later I was taken to the x-ray machine, she kept placing my face on the machine and telling me to stop moving. She would take a shot and then move my face slightly and tell me to stop moving. After the fourth attempt of x-raying my mouth she said something to the effect of " this will have to be good enough" I was so disappointed at how disrespectful this woman was. The entire duration of mt visit she treated me as if I was an ignorant child. I went back to the waiting room with my mom, and after another 15 minutes wait Dr. Schugel came in sat in "his chair" and put up my x-rays. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth the bottom two had roots that were completely wrapped around my nerves. When I got this diagnosis, I was SCARED. I was told that there is a very high chance that I might lose feeling in my mouth and tongue. I was TERRIFIED. I asked him what the complications of this surgery would be and he said "everything will be fine" ok, so then I asked how long the recovery period will be he said "not long" I was not getting any definitive answers whatsoever. Then he shakes my hand and says "try and stay calm i will do my best" and walks out. I was so scared he did not try and console me or assure me of his ability of remove my teeth. So fast forward-- had the surgery on the 23rd of april fell asleep, woke up, went home. Dont remember muxh. But after the surgery all hell broke loose! The day after surgery a nurse called me and followed up with me. She asked how I was doing I told her that I was bleeding still, she was very helpful gave me advice and said she was going to set an appointment for me to get checked out. I said ok and was transferred to another woman on the phone (the same rude woman as before I think her name was Deborah or Devin) and she asks me when I wanted my appointment set for. I said "well I dont know what the appointment is for and I dont want to run back and forth from your office without knowing what is going on" this woman said "YOU set an appointment and YOU don't know what its for? How am I supposed to know what you need?" I cancelled the appointment and was shocked at how I was being treated. Well fast forward--- 5 days after the surgery (which is a saturday) around 10 am I called Dr.Schugel at his office because I was in an EXCRUCIATING amount of pain. I called and thr nurse said the office was closed but she would have the doctor call me. I said ok and sat by the phone and waited for the doctor to call me. At 10:45 i get a call from dr.schugel and he said "yes it sounds like you have a dry socket, it sounds like your in a lot of pain, well, I just left the office 5 minutes ago and I dont want to have to go and turn back on the computers so I can examine you, you can you tough it out until Monday?" I COULDNT BELIEVE IT! I had to sit in the most horrible pain in my entire lofe because he did want to turn on computers. I have since switched to another WONDERFUL ORAL SURGEON (Dr. Kirk Collier) and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME, MONEY, STRESS, AND PAIN AND GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN DR.SCHUGEL! HE WAS RUDE AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF WAS RUDE! TRUST ME! I would rather pull a wisdom tooth with a pair of pliers than go back to this man.

Overall I would definitely reccomend the office as the desk gals and hygienists are wonderful and so is Dr Hutchinson but I wouldn't reccomend seeing Dr Jessup. Also the location is kind of interesting to get to but once you've gone once it'll be a breeze to get to again.
