I've had four experiences total here, the first one was with Dr. Jessup, he fixed a broken tooth, they got me in quickly and I was happy with how my broken tooth looks. My second appt was a cleaning also with Dr. Jessup, I was happy with that as well, they were nice and informative. And I had zero pain during the cleaning. My third appt was to get some cavities filled by Dr Jessup, I had no issues with pain before the fillings but now am in a lot of pain and it's been 4 months since then. So I was not happy with that. I went in today for a cleaning from Dr Hutchinson, she was super kind and helpful on a plan to get my tooth to no longer hurt, she said that the filling I was given needed to be fixed and that should solve the pain. Overall I would definitely reccomend the office as the desk gals and hygienists are wonderful and so is Dr Hutchinson but I wouldn't reccomend seeing Dr Jessup. Also the location is kind of interesting to get to but once you've gone once it'll be a breeze to get to again. They do have a parking lot which I appreciate, and the office is very cozy and clean inside as well! read more

I arrived at my appointment to pick up my Essix retainer and was immediately asked for payment before I even had a chance to see or try it on which was unusual, because I've never been asked to pay upfront in any of my visits to Dr. Mingos & Associates. I let the front desk person know I preferred to pay after receiving the retainer. She said she'd check with "her" who I assumed to be Dr.Kayla, my dentist but when she returned, she gave no clear answer just dully told me to have a seat and someone would come and get me. As soon as I walked back in the room and saw the essix retainer, I noticed the color was off and the whole thing looked big and bulky. I tried it on, and as I suspected, it was uncomfortable, the plastic was overly thick, and I couldn't bite down properly. The assistant told me that was "normal," but I had been wearing an essix for almost a year now and knew it could be better. I made it clear I was unhappy and asked if adjustments could be made or what other options were available. Bridgette went to consult Dr. Kayla, and I expected her to come assess the fit. Instead, I was basically told to either take the retainer as-is or leave without one. The dentist never came to explain, offer alternatives, or even acknowledge my concerns. Dr. Kayla is typically professional not especially warm, but never rude so this experience was deeply disappointing. I've always paid my balance in full or through consistent installments despite not having insurance, and I've never had an issue. But the lack of communication, support, and basic patient care during this visit was unprofessional and dismissive. It felt like the priority was money, not the patient. This doesn't reflect the office as a whole, however, I take my care seriously and because I was treated with total disregard, my experience has prompted me to find a new dentist that is a better fit. read more

She's kind, knowledgeable, and keeps me informed. The entire vibe and atmosphere is very relaxing and they even have coloring books and a Nintendo switch set up for kids. My daughter needed an emergency dentist on a Friday night and she has no dentist. I found the office of Dr. Mingos and left a message as well as 2 other dentist who were open Saturday. Saturday at 8:15 someone from the office called me and got us in at 10:00. my daughter was in a great deal of pain. She is still in with the dentist. I have been going to Dr. Mingos for years now. Something I really appreciate about them as a whole is their flexibility, care and attention to detail. In general, they take most insurance so that has never been an issue for me. More importantly, they are always kind and give you the best quality of care. In fact, it was Dr. Mingos that caught a problem in my x-rays before my primary care doctor. Dr. Mingos offers a variety of services. I went to them to replace a missing front tooth (crown). They kept making appts for me and pulling teeth. I believe they pulled 7 teeth but not very well. There are charts of each one of those teeth still in my mouth and I'm going to havevto pay a new dentist to get them pulled again. Funny thing is they never did get around to fixing my missing crown and when I asked them why they were pulling out my teeth their response was oh they were in the way. I have other stories about mingos that are just as bad if not worse and have convinced me that office is outvto make as much money from you as possible regardless if you need the procedure. In fact they have ruined my teeth and now I will probably just let them rot because I can't afford to pay twice. This was malpractice and a complete waste of my money and time and I'd like to picket that creepy little office. Once I called to tell them I might be 5 minutes late because my Uber just got here. They said they don't accept anyone that is 5 mins late but they will be charging me for the appointment. They did a root canal on a tooth and then pulled it on my next appointment. They sold me 500 worth of tooth bleaching material knowing FULL WELL THAT I SMOKED AND IT WOULDNT WORK ...MAY ACTUALKY GET DARKER IF I SMOKE. Dentist Hofmeister DDS and dental assistant Megan stayed light hearted in appearance and worked like clockwork together. I highly recommend this dental practice. I neglected my dental health for a very long time but was eventually forced to find a dentist due to a problem. Like I do with everything, I looked at multiple websites, read reviews, etc. This dentist's office had 99% favorable reviews and very convenient hours. It took a lot to get me back in a dental chair but they made me feel comfortable and, most importantly, didn't shame me for waiting so long. Obviously, after so many years, I had several issues that needed to be addressed. I've now been back 5 times in two months. The dentist that I see in the office is Dr. Heath Hoffmeister. Dr. Hoffmeister is very friendly and explains everything that he is doing. The dental assistants have also been awesome and very knowledgeable. I have also worked with multiple people on the staff. Everyone from the person at the front desk to the billing staff have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Last but not least is they have been on time with each of my appointments with almost no waiting around after the appointment time. I am so glad I chose this dentist practice. My only regret of course is that I didn't go sooner than I did! read more

Called to make an appointment for a cavity that was hurting. Was told I need an evaluation to determine the extent of repair needed. As long as I can get the tooth fixed. After I arrived, they had me sign numerous pages of legal paperwork. Next they took ex-rays, did a debreading process and when I did see the Dentist, he did a evaluation of all my teeth not just the one bothering me. I told him which one was hurting and he said he didn't have time to fix it. I would have to make another appointment. I had already been there over an hour. He apologized for the mis understanding. All the techs including the Dr was great. the problem is with the person taking appointments. If you do use them make sure you are getting the services you ask for. If a car dealership or roofing company did this they would be in trouble with the law. Since you signed papers with no list of services, they can charge what they want, and you have no recourse. read more

Not the best. I went here in August 2016 to get my teeth cleaned and x-rays and all that jazz. I really liked my hygienist that did the actual cleaning and felt that she did a good job. The dentist I saw was fine, but didn't stand out to me in anyway. I thought I was seeing the dentist that my sister sees, but she wasn't working that day, something that was not communicated to me before my visit. This dentist told me that I had 4 cavities and I needed to come in the next week to get them filled. I thought no way, and did not go in. I had just had my teeth cleaned 6 months prior and thought there could be no way I could get 4 cavities in that amount of time!! I kept pushing back the appointment until I would have dental insurance. Once my dental insurance went into effect, this office did not accept it... Fast forward to present, I have had my teeth cleaned again at a different dental office (where they accepted my metlife insurance), with no cavities to report. None. Not one, and definitely not 4!! I want to love this office because it has great hours and is within walking distance of my home, but unfortunately, I just don't think it made the cut. read more

My rating is primarily driven by 3 factors: - I have had several fillings in this office. Each has taken well over 90 minutes, usually pushing 2 hours. - Poor administration of anesthetic (even when I tried 3x to tell the dentist that the instrument she was using was burning my lip, she kept working. I REALLY had to persist to signal something was wrong) - A filling was done ineffectively the first time, on my next visit they had to redo it. Of course I was charged for both visits. No apologies. They may it seem like this was routine. This is not/should not be routine. It's nice that they have flexible hours, sure. The staff is nice, yes. But at the end of the day what matters most is the quality of dental work. I cannot honestly provide positive feedback in that regard, and my experience is based on multiple visits (not just one). I do not appreciate the "cabin" vibe of this office. But that's personal preference. It's incredibly cramped and uncomfortable in the waiting areas, and the campy vibe does not lend itself to feeling hygenic. I will not return despite the convenience of their hours and the nice staff. Note: I attempted to contact the manager to discuss feedback with her. I was told that there is no manager to speak with on Fridays, and I can call back after 11am on Monday. read more

I am new to this office and just had my first cavity filling with Dr. Blaire. I was so impressed by how charismatic she was. She took the time to explain every step and made sure I was comfortable through the entire process. The office even called the next day to ensure everything was still doing alright. At checkout I had a problem with my HSA account and the receptionist was so helpful. All around the staff here is amazing and I highly recommend! I didn't go to the dentist for a LONG TIME. I don't want to tell you exactly how long, because it's slightly embarrassing. And it wasn't because I couldn't afford it, or anything like that. It was just that, after so long away, I figured that there would be a ton of stuff to do and I didn't want to invest the time (well, and technically the money too, I guess). That was stupid of me. But then I atoned for my stupidity by finding an awesome dentist: Dr. Mingos and Friends, or whatever this place is called. (I've never actually seen Dr. Mingos--he may or may not even be real. I go to Dr. Beard and he is outstanding.) I started going here in April of last year because I was having constant headaches and toothaches (I'd never had a toothache before--they're pretty awful). I thought it had something to do with my front teeth (that's the science name for them). Turns out--even though I didn't initially believe the diagnosis--it was the pressure from my WISDOM teeth causing the pain. See, I'd had the wisdom teeth basically in and through the gums for quite a while, so the fact that they were JUST NOW causing these other problems didn't make sense. (Note: the dentist is much smarter about your teeth than you are). So Dr. Beard said, "we've gotta take those out, posthaste!" (I don't think he said posthaste--he's like, 30 years old.) But he DID say, "we can either do it here--you'll take a pill but not be out, or we can schedule you with an oral surgeon at a hospital, and they can put you under." Since I was deciding to establish a relationship with this new dentist, I said, "you do it, doc!" And the next thing I know, he's wrestling four of my wisdom teeth out while I looked at the ceiling and tried not to concentrate on the sawing and ripping sounds. But I swear to God, it didn't hurt a bit and it went very, very well. And from that April day, I began this sick sort of regiment with the office. I went back for two sessions of root scaling and gum planning, whatever the hell that is. I went back once for a cleaning. I went back for another cleaning. Oh, I had THREE sessions where I got 6 cavities filled. Another cleaning. By the end of the year, my insurance was maxed out and I was paying out of pocket. But since my insurance is really, really good, I still only spent a grand total of like, $500 there last year. For ALL of the stuff I mentioned. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL SAVINGS. The great thing is that everyone there is crazy-friendly. It's casual, too, because it's in a log cabin, AND they have fantastic hours for a dentist's office. They have two nights during the week where they're open until 7pm, and they're open for 8 hours on Saturday, I think. That's accessibility, and that's what initially sold me. I've been to a few different dentists in my life, moving from WI to KS and then to KC and Dr. Mingos' office is my favorite yet. Located in a beautiful old log cabin on the west end of the Plaza, the office is warm, friendly and very un-medical. It doesn't have that antiseptic feel of many offices - it feels like home. The staff is all very friendly and does a great job with their work. Each exam room has a flat panel TV up high so you can watch whatever you want while they're working on you. I have been to Dr. Mingos once for a 6mo cleaning and I will definitely be returning. What I liked most was how informative and friendly they were through the whole process. From the time I made my appointment, to checking in and filling out paper work, to the dental hygienist, to the doctor. I hate the dentist but the staff here made me feel more at ease. It is a much more relaxed environment. I had several questions for the hygienist and she took the time to explain things in a way I would understand. They show you your x-rays on a tv so you get a great visual. She was also helpful when I asked questions about what my insurance would cover (x-rays, etc). When Dr. Mingos came in to take a look he was very attentive, unlike many dentist when they come in for a 15 second look and are on their way. I would say customer service and a friendly staff is the main reason they are great. I recommend them to anyone, especially if you hate the dentist! An added bonus, they offer a referral for you AND the person who referred you, $50 to each of your accounts! read more

If you are looking for a new dental office, DO NOT GO HERE. I moved to the area and decided to go here for the convenience of their later hours so I didn't have to miss work. It was my first apppointment in a little over a year so I was over due. At the end of my visit when the dentist, Amy, looked at my teeth, she stated there was one cavity. I thought no big deal, and when checking out, set up an appointment with the receptionist for the filling. Went in about a week later for the filling and the dental hygienist tells me I'm getting two teeth filled... hmm ok, again, I still thought no big deal, that's ok, let's get them taken care of. At the end of that visit the dentist tells me I need to set up an appointment for my 3rd cavity to be filled. WHAT! None of that was stated up front during my first cleaning appointment. I have never experienced this type of unprofessional service before where you're not told EXACTLY what will be done up front (and how many more visits) as well as the cost. I thought since I was over due, the cavities were probably legit at first but now I know I was being scammed. It was my fault for not questioning things after I was told about the surprise "second cavity" with my nonchalant attitude at first, but now I have learned my lesson. Oh and to top it all off, I received a bill exceeding over $300 for the fillings that didn't make any sense especially with my health insurance coverage. So after calling my health insurance provider to explain the items on the bill to me, I then called and spoke with Peggy, the office manager, to question the fees on the bill. I said the fees were not correct and asked her to explain why they are showing. She asked me if she could call me back to do some calculations. What? The final bill, after her calculations... ended up being much lower and only about $25... she did not seem to know what she was doing. Before this dental visit I guess I was naive and had trust in my past dental offices, but now I know the red flags to look out for when going to a new dentist. I have been going to the Mingo's Dental Office for over 11 years now. I was referred there since back then there wasn't any reviews to look at or available like this now days. Basically, it is the one practice that my whole family can agree on. I, my son, daughter, wife, ex-wife (& we don't agree on anything), my Dad, heck you name it. If you want to keep your teeth and they matter to you, this practice is it. They are open Saturday's as well, which is great for taking both kids at the same time. They do high end implant for my Dad who is a wonder man, but can be high maintence and they can handle him. They take many insurances in network and I think they take about everything even if it's out of network. They file it for you with the insurance company and make it easy. Office lady is Peggy. I will say that I do have my favorite hygienist, Julie and she is excellent. If my mouth didn't have to stay open I would fall asleep. Some of the other hygienist are good, keep changing hygienist till you get the one you are most comfortable with I hope this helps, they are conveniently located to get to from anywhere in the city as well. read more

Stopped in for a cleaning as a first time, new guest. Staff was friendly, the place was clean. My only complaints would be the 25 minute wait time before my cleaning and the lack of space for seating while waiting. I did go on a busy Saturday, so that could have had something to do with how many people were there/waiting/smashed in the waiting rooms. My cleaning was very thorough, and each room has its own personal TV if you are interested in watching that while in the room! I loved my dentist (Dr. Blair) and the hygienists here. I felt very comfortable with them and appreciated their care. However, I had several unpleasant phone conversations with a staff member named Peggy. My husband and I had visited this clinic for two years and always payed our balance in full every time we visited for cleaning appointments. We are consistent with our visits and have never received late notices or been asked to pay between visits. We always pay in person for extra fees like fillings and we come in every 4-6 months. However starting this year, we were literally hounded by Peggy over a $27 fee that they could not explain. Our insurance covers cleanings completely and always has. We have never had an extra fee like that for a cleaning and have not had other procedures this year. She was extremely rude and accusatory. All over $27. I paid the fee but we won't be back. It's unfortunate because I really did feel comfortable with the hygienists and the dentists. I think they need to work on training their support staff and also itemizing receipts/explaining excess fees. read more

I am not a fan of the dental chair! I approach it with fear, anxiety and dread. Dr. Mingos and his staff understand this. Whether it is a regular cleaning or an in-depth appointment involving the dreaded drill, they take equal care to ensure my comfort. I'm sure that dentists and their staffs deal with skittish patients on a regular basis. But I have never sensed impatience from Dr. Mingos and his staff. They have never dismissed my concerns with the attitude of "Get in line with the other dentaphobes. . . no one likes to go to the dentist!" They treat me with respect and empathy. I absolutely love coming here! The place is shaped like a cabin and the waiting room are super cozy. Each room has a skylight and a TV.
