He is…read moreautistic and verbal, and while he sometimes needs extra prompts or redirection, he participated well in both classes. He followed instructions, stayed engaged, and genuinely enjoyed himself. Importantly, he was not disruptive to other children, did not interfere with anyone else's turns, and did not get in the way of the class. The instructors allowed him to attend a trial class, and during the class there were no major issues or safety concerns. After the trial period, however, we were informed that they would not allow him to enroll due to his special needs and the additional attention he may require and they cannot offer private classes at this time. I understand that not every program is equipped or obligated to accommodate every child, and I respect that running a group class comes with limitations. That said, this experience was incredibly disappointing. Our son did well, he loved it, and he has been talking about taekwondo and asking when he can go back. Having to explain to him that we cannot go, despite doing his best, has been heartbreaking. What makes this particularly difficult is that he was given the opportunity to try, showed that he could participate meaningfully, and then was excluded anyway. For families with neurodivergent children, moments where our kids feel confident, included, and excited about an activity are rare and incredibly important. I'm sharing this so other parents of children with special needs are aware and so the school might reflect on how situations like this are handled. Inclusion does not require perfection, but it does require recognizing effort, progress, and the real impact these decisions have on young children who just want to belong.

I sent my 4 year old son to this establishment for Summer Camp starting in June 2019. He was born…read morein January 2015, so he will not be 5 until next year. Before registering I had a phone conversation with one of the staff members. I specifically asked if they were sure that they accept preschool age children for camp. He reassured me that they have in the past. I explained that my son was in preschool at a center but would start pre-k at a private school in the Fall and was told that was fine. I visited the place twice without my son to obtain paperwork and to drop off the paperwork and immunization records and still was told that all was well. His age and school information was included in writing as requested on their forms. Fast forward to my son starting camp. The first week was fine and he seemed happy. I did not receive any complaints from the staff or my son. A couple of weeks later, my husband picked my son up and the female staff person asked about my son's academic abilities. She seemed surprised that a 4 year old child could not write numbers independently. That was strange to me as I assumed that staff working with children would receive some sort of training on developmentally appropriate activities. I chose not to make too much of the issue. The next week I received complaints about the need to redirect my son from approaching the deep end at the pool during a field trip and again about them taking his play time away because he was not writing his numbers. Any parent or individual properly trained to work with children would know that four year old children often require redirection. They also should be able to recognize numbers and letters but might not be writing independently yet. My son can write letters of the alphabet, his name, count to 100 and more but that was not enough for them. I was appalled at the fact that his play time was used as punishment since play is the most important form of learning for a child at that age. The straw that broke the camel's back was that a staff person called my son "stubborn". My family is not perfect but we definitely are not tolerant of name calling. We do not call our child names and would never allow anyone else to do so. US Martial Arts is not a bad place for elementary age kids but parents of preschoolers beware. I would NOT recommend sending your child under six years old to summer camp at this establishment. Expectations are unrealistic and trust me when I say you will notice a difference in your child. My happy go-lucky boy who has always been rated as above average and is very well liked by teachers was in tears when I reminded him on Sunday that he would go to camp on Monday. Needless to say, I pulled him out and made other arrangements for him to be in a loving environment with folks who understand how to work with children his age. I would have appreciated a denial when I inquired about signing him up for camp if they are inexperienced with his age group. I would have also appreciated feedback daily about his play time being revoked instead of finding out the way I did. When I called to inform them that he would not return, no questions were asked. That is less than ideal customer service since I have already spent almost $1,000 with them. All is well as the happiness of my child is all that matters.

Parents and kids are much happier and new students are still signing up. It's so relax and joyful to be there. One bad seed shouldn't punish the whole school especially since no one knew of this incident. This is only my opinion. All of us don't think alike.

For about 4 months now I've had the honor and pleasure of watching my son soak up training at this dojo. The staff here are FANTASTIC with kids. They took my shy kid in one session and had him on the mat and he hasn't looked back since. Adults train here too but every time I come here I see smiles on kids faces! They learn, are encouraged to practice, and belt tests reinforce discipline at home. I'm proud of my son for sticking with it and the staff here prove every day that they can hook the kids on Martial Arts. I can't say enough good things!

Now I have been volunteering during the summers for two years and the kids are such a joy. There were several times I wanted to give up, but the instructors helped me strive and keep going. I got my black belt and feel safer out and about, but also I can hold in my heart the fact that I achieved something so cool.

It's a shame that I have to write this review, but I suppose you must talk to business men in their…read morelanguage. Team Randori had a few red flags to start, like "closed" open mats and fairly outrageous pricing (about $200/month if you want to do 3x a week including open mats -- you have to pay a premium for open mat allowance), but the owner, Al, was very direct in his sales pitch which was fine enough to get us on the mats. As a background, I have been training jiu-jitsu (and other martial arts) since 2007 as a 15 year young kid, and have been to several countries and countless gyms around the world for martial arts (mostly under the BJJ Globetrotters Camps). I got my fiancée into the sport just over 6 years ago or so, and she has excelled in it! We were lucky to find a nice, small little crew of good people to train with so close to our home, after dealing with other problematic gyms in the area (namely pedos and creeps). It can be especially hard for a 120lb female to find partners she can safely and comfortably roll with, but we did manage to find a few of those folk within Randori. That being said, I share some regrets getting past those red flags, as not even 5 months into training at Randori and spending a whopping $1500 between the two of us, we've already been excommunicated (I guess). One day at training, before class started, Al decided to use me to show somebody a ridiculous and unrealistic move that splayed my knees open, wrenching them both way beyond their ability. All I could do was tap, but he ripped it with seemingly no remorse. Afterwards he literally just turned and continued to his previous conversation. I still don't know if it was a genuine accident (again, to which no remorse has been given -- except maybe for my canceled membership aka less money coming in) or a case of the ol Napoleon Syndrome. One of his black belts saw it go down and immediately came up to me asking if I needed ice, also in a bit of shock at the situation. I responded something to the tune of, "if it were anyone else I think I would need to go to the hospital," as I'm quite flexible. The next day my knee buckled over and I knew my old LCL injury (which had long since recovered) was back with a vengeance -- so I messaged Al to cancel my membership. He did a brief dance of asking for a Doctor's note or whatever, to which I just said I am canceling because I know there's not much to do for knees that would allow me to come back quick, and I was now quite over the owner (though withholding all these feelings to avoid burning a bridge). I was off it for two weeks, rehabbed for a month, and then got into strength training for another three months. Stronger than ever As soon as I was ready I reached out to friends at the gym -- because we got along with everyone else extremely well -- to come to an open mat. I knew their little "closed" open mat policy for non-paying folk, but figured maybe since I was a member, experienced and always a safe roll, then got injured -- maybe, just maybe, Al would make an exception; he wanted $40 for a "drop-in" fee. To those unaware, these are awful business practices touted as "safety" precautions, but that's what the waiver is for.. and many of the best gyms are always open to all for open mat. So, I decided to send Al a message about it all directly -- still hoping I could maybe get to the open mat late and get some rolls in. Again, he's a business man so he saw my message pretty quickly -- but still to this day he has not responded. I have the message attached; I think I did a fairly good job at lightening up my emotions about it with emojis but it has been a few weeks and he has just left me on read. "No money no honey," as they say in Thailand Edited and changed from 3-stars to 1-stars after learning things haven't changed in the last year and there has been a mass exodus from all the good people at the gym. Maybe their kids program is still worth something because Coach Carlos is great, but there are other gyms out there with less explosive little men running the school

Joined for the kickboxing class. Was told they were going to add Saturday classes, which I was…read moreexcited about since getting there at 6:15pm is not always possibly after work. So far this has not happened and that was back in October 2016. Classes are M-Th and just one from 6:15-7:15. There is a different instructor every night. Sometimes the class seems more focus on weights, yoga, Pilates, and other things than kickboxing. The room is not very big. While you are taking the class, others are either in there waiting to their classes, practicing for their class, or walking to and from the restroom. Sometimes you cannot do your own workout due to them walking by or being in the way, which is frustrating. Attempted to cancel my membership but unfortunately I'm locked in for a year. It is definitely more geared for martial arts than kickboxing.
