There were four employees in the back all talking, and when I asked if someone could help me, they told me no. It felt unprofessional, dismissive, and unwelcoming. With so many other places that actually value their customers, I won't be coming back. I've spoken to other moms in the neighborhood and have been told this shop is dismissive and rude but I did not believe it. Now I do.

All of the sales team that work there are super friendly and can assist you if you're looking for something in particular. Unlike with a grocery store, this is an episodic business and customers visit the store infrequently. But if I am in the market for Indian merchandise, I will be sure to check out Butala. An excellent resource for New Yorkers, although I realize the Manhattan location was too good to be sustainable.
