my husband's father became ill. So we traveled 3 hours from Maryland to Southill V.A to spend time…read morewith him. We stayed at the Best Western Plus. I had never had any issues before, so I felt comfortable stayingthere. We checked in, the carpet was soaking wet. Apparently housekeeping did something with the a/c that caused it to leak. Then when using the bathroom, I noticed dirt in the corner of the floor. YUCK!!!!!! We moved to another room and the Microwave was so nasty. Needless to say I'm so disappointed with Best Western

Will we be back?....not likely. Here's why:…read more Pros: 1. Really close distance to various fast food joints, sit down restaurants, gas stations and supermarkets/stores. Sonic, McDonalds, Cracker Barrel, Walmart, etc. 2. Rooms have a mini-fridge. Not sure if every room does, so I would double check upon checking in. 3. Breakfast was delicious. They have a really nice spread of hot and cold foods. Biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs (which were DELICIOUS), bacon, and sausage in the hot food buffet bar. They also have a belgian waffle maker. Various cereals, oatmeals, breads, yogurts, and fruits if not interested in hot breakfast. 4. Tea and coffee is available all day for free. 5. Bed was very comfortable. 6. Our...4th bathroom was clean. Yes I did say 4th. Let me explain. Cons: 1. My parents had to change the room four times because the first three were filthy. I mean that's just ridiculous. There was hair (a lot of hair) on the bed sheets in the first three rooms they gave us keys to. One room didn't even have the beds made and had used towels on the floor in the bathroom. That's nasty as hell. So fyi, pull back the comforters and check the sheets before laying on them, because otherwise, you'll be in for one hell of a nasty ass surprise. 2. The rooms are small. Not much space between beds, furniture, and walls. Sucks if you're claustrophobic. 3. When you turned on the heater in our 4th room, it smelled like burnt smoke. We had to open up the window because it stank up the whole room. 4. Smoke detectors were covered in the 4th room. That's such a fire hazard and illegal? We didn't notice if this was the case in the other 3 rooms because we hadn't got past the beds.... 5. When we spoke to the manager upon checking out about the rooms situation, all he offered us was a discount on our next stay there. I would come back for the food but not to room there.

And breakfast was excellent...the most delicious orange French toast, with poached eggs, asparagus, yogurt and berries. And their dog was a dear! We would gladly stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you for a lovely evening!

A 1910 home with grand rooms, high ceilings and filled with charm you will never get from a corporate chain. The rooms were lovely, spacious and the bathroom was gigantic with a beautiful claw foot tub. Breakfast was served in the grand dining room with a large fireplace. We were served coffee, tea, 4 different juices, fresh baked pastries, quiche, yogurt, bacon and more bacon. We felt like royalty. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. We were only in town for one day. The Inn on the Avenues was an amazing stay and we whole heartedly recommend you choose this place over any hotel/motel. The price was great, food was delicious, the owner was as kind as could be and it was an unforgettable stop on our vacation. We look forward to our next stay here.
