I recently had a stay at Kindred Hospital and can not say enoughgood things about it. Eery single person on the staff did a great job and was kind to me. my case manger was awesome and always had the answers I was looking for. The wound care team did a excellent job and really cared about my me and my progress. A special shout out to Esther who would visit with a huge smile and listened to my concerns. Please don't send your love ones or yourself here especially if you are really ill. You might catch another infection. Rooms do not get cleaned regularly. Used badges left on the floor. And god forbidden a patient can't speak they will be ignored left in gowns that are soiled. read more

My wife needed a place to recover from an abdominal surgery that went very wrong and turned into multiple surgeries, the rep that came to the hospital told us she would have wound care available 24/7 well first weekend here and something went wrong with her vac and we learned that "there will be staff available to handle it at all times" actually meant a standard nurse removing the pump while my wife screamed in pain and being told wound care will be in to fix it on Monday also apparently only wound care can order the antibacterial soak for her wet to dry pack dressing so they're using sterile water and acting like it's no big deal to wait for the right dressings like we haven't just come through a massive infection and shouldn't be concerned. Then there's the facility itself the website and brochure so nice modern rooms with up to date equipment and in actuality the equipment is 20 years old and the paint is literally peeling around the windows the overhead speaker plays static non stop the bathroom in the room isn't accessible for her wheelchair and the staff hardly cares with only 1-2 exceptions they don't even use fitted sheets on the beds just a flat sheet thrown on that doesn't stay in place cheap dingy and undermaintained looks like something out of a b rated horror movie and food service is pitiful I wouldn't send my arch enemy here read more

Very disappointed! Was told there was a bed available for my wife. Have been here 4 hours now to find out there is no bed available and they were calling other hospitals. This is not a good scenario when your spouse is in dire need of medical care! read more

Had an issue with a CNA regarding my mother's care. She got in my face yelling and pointing her finger at me, an RN had to physically remove her from the room. I made a complaint, and was told that they didn't believe me, because she's a "model" employee. The same CNA , spread that not only myself, but my mother(the patient) was prejudiced against Africans! Mind you, were African American!! I reported that incident as well as a fall my mother had and Marti(the nurses director) had her bosses Sandra, and Stephanie reprimand me as if I'm a child, and was later banned from the facility. I'm only giving this facility 1 star because they're are some awesome caregivers there, that really care read more

This place need to be shutdown, my father got wrong lab results 3 times and they never admitted their terrible mistake, they kept him hours without checking on him, never received proper care, their doctors are so rude, can't trust their medical opinion. The hospital smells like poop. read more

Before sending your loved one to this hellscape educate yourself on hospital red flags and warning signs then show up and see for yourself what kind of facility this is. The building is old, dated and not well supplied with equipment to take care of the level of care patients in their long-term acute hospital Nursing staff are often short handed and frequently there is not a single nursing assistant on the unit my son is locked away on. I have met a dozen nurses from agencies that I thought were great only to never see them again. The constant flow of new faces and poor staffing make it so no one ever really gets to know your family member. Even the few who are truely dedicated and compassionate can only do so much. When you are constaly short handed corners will be cut and care will be neglected no matter how hard they may try to keep up. It may be fatigue but Nurses have abrasive attitudes with no respect for privacy or dignity of the patient. They do not introduce themselves to visitors or the patient. Nursing and Respiratory therapist frequently walk in and do not tell my son what they are going to do before they start doing the task. Staff do not have time to offer urinals forcing my son to wear a condom catheter that he will not leave on resulting in him setting in a soaking wet bed to the point everything on and under him is dripping wet with dark rings around the edges. My son has developed a bed sore, internally rotated leg with drop foot that will make walking difficult and painful in his future. He is only 24 and the care he received at the first hospital was wonderful. We were making progress and then he was transferred to Kindred Aurora when the case manager and website make this hospital seem like a place that it will never live up to. They put lipstick on a pig here then by the time you see what is really happening it is to late and your options more limited. My son still has a stitch in his head he is constantly itching. I have asked to have it removed and have been told they would but they say that and then don't follow through more often that should ever be considered reasonable. My son is constantly itchy they have him in a restraint mitten 24 hours a day so he can not utilize his good hand. He can not exercise his hand, he can not spread his fingers out, he can not use his call light. His other arm and hand is becoming contracture to the point where i have to massage his arm for several minutes before he will let me help him do range of motion exercises. They absolutely will not do anything about any issues you may be having and if you complain one time to many watch yourself. The DON and her sidekick like to play good cop, bad cop to try and manipulate you. They will deny, deflect and look you dead in the eye emotionlessly telling you what you are seeing with your own two eyes is not accurate, not there or otherwise not what you perceive it to be. The DON and other administrative staff will lie, about you and to you, plant objects in your loved ones room to accuse you of breaking hospital policy. They have stolen my sons cell phone and wireless speaker denied him any rights in any respect because they see him as a cash cow invalid who can't speak so there is no need to treat him kindly or considerately. They discriminate and make up rules as they go along. They will tell you the hospital policies say things that they do not despite you reading verbatim from the copy of their own policy. Any grievance is treated like an offence against staff and is met with a how dare you want your loved one to be cared for attitude. My son has been secluded with no TV, no radio, no sensory objects, no phone, no audio books and no mother to go in and perform care that they just flat out do not or can not do. They are treating my son like their little prisoner who has no human rights and is just a pawn in their sick twisted institution. Can you imagine being stuck in a bed day in and day out with nothing but your own thoughts? They deliberate are trying to break him down emotional and physically so they can snare another victim into their long term care area undefinedly. I strongly encourage you to take pictures of any neglect. Always have an automatic voice recorder for in person and phone calls. Take daily notes about your interactions and prey for the best if you get stuck here before reading these negative reviews like I did. Never trust a hospital case worker to do what is best for your loved one. That is like trusting the police to police themselves and we all see how that turn's out. This is the most unsanitary healthcare setting I have ever seen. I have yet to see a single person wash their hands. They glove up, sanitize after they finish the task, sanitize their hands and go on to the very next room. Make sure you Google how tracheostomies are supposed to be suctioned, how gastro feeding tubes should be cared for. How often and how patients should be turned and keep a log. I attended one of my clinical rotations for nursing school at Kindred Hospital in Aurora and thoroughly enjoyed it. All of the staff members, especially the nurses, were extremely welcoming and more than willing to teach me and and my classmates as much as they could. I could tell from the get go that they were very attentive to their patients and went above and beyond to make sure everyone stayed happy, comfortable, and clean. Nurses and CNA's can be unwelcoming and annoyed of students and I never once felt that way. The amount of knowledge I gained from working at Kindred was tremendous. I'm so happy I was able to spend my clinical time there because I would not have received the same experience elsewhere. I would be comfortable having my own family member at Kindred. read more

My partner received excellent care while here. The staff were welcoming and paid attention to details. Even the CEo and head of pharmacy personally monitored my partners medicines while in ICU. We credit this hospital with saving her life. read more
