This has got to be one of the absolute worst 'rehabilitation' facilities in Florida. I've worked in healthcare for many years and I would not send my enemies dying dog here. Apathetic staff. Items just to 'disappear' and no one has any idea what happened to them. My daughter was transferred here from Cape Canaveral for rehab. After 4 days, no one had even been in to talk to her. They leave their patients literally shitting in shit. If you hate your family member and want them to die a horrific death: send them here. read more

RECENT-2025-already deleted by them. PLEASE don't send loved ones to this awful place. They killed my husband in 2 days. Wouldn't let me speak to him then turned phones and switchboard OFF. He died next AM. They STILL won't answer me after calling me to view his dead body. I called 200 times the night he was in trouble, they didn't know he needed more BLOOD! They would NOT answer. They KNEW he was dead. Then they THREATENED me for calling for info and blocked my phone. This INCLUDES the HEAD NURSE. Blocked my phone! He's still in morgue and they BLOCK my calls, even to this day, 2-12-2025. Totally uncaring and INHUMANE. This happened on 2-8-2025. Days ago! Waiting to report to Police for the 3rd complaint. My mother was sent there for rehab following a stay at Viera Hospital. She never made it out. Let me assure this is not a case of someone upset at the loss of a loved one trying to find someone to blame. If a loved one passed away in this facility I strongly urge you to get the medical records. See how their care was documented. Very little of what was documented regarding the morning of my mother's passing was true to what actually happened. For instance, I don't know how her doctor could have seen her at 7:00 a.m. in the morning when he was in Orlando with his family and said he would take a look at her when he got back. It was documented that they called us at 8:00 a.m. to inform us that there was an issue with my mother. Also not true. My sister arrived at 10:30 in the morning to find my mother unconscious and unresponsive and the nurse on duty at the desk had no idea. My mother's room was directly in front of the nurse's station !!! Her exact words were " I didn't know, all I heard was she had a bad night". And she had the audacity to say it with an attitude. Do they not check on their patients?? Especially when they've heard they had a bad night!!! read more

My brother has been at Kindred since Jan 27. While there he aquired an ecoli blood infection and had to treated in their Critical Care Unit. The hygiene care in this hospital is obviously not adequate. WE have found another place that will take him, BUT Kindred will not discuss discharge with us. They have spoken to the other facility and are aware of our desire to have him moved. NO ONE answers their phone or returns messages. This is beyond frustraiting. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! read more

Kudos to KINDRED HOSPITAL for the outstanding care that they provided to my wife during her 3 week stay at this 1st class facility. Especially a super hug to Joaquin Hall the Director who provided her own special touch to ensure my wifes continued quality care provided by her staff. Please, whatever you do, do not take your loved one to Kindred!!! My Father went there in March 2018, and most of the care was horrible! A Doctor was supposed to see him within 24 hours, and a Dr. didn't come for over 2 days! He had a blood clot on his brain! He went into Kindred on 3/9/18 and I did not hear from his Primary Doctor until 3/19/18. I had his Medical Power of Attorney. Most of the nurses were awful and his care was neglected often. No One should be treated like this at the end of their life. When he passed, hardly anyone even came into the room, and we, his family were in there for 5 hours. Everything was terrible at this hospital. Staff was inattentive the doctor only breezed in once a day. Half the patients are sedated to near coma levels so they dont have to care for them. My mother was on a ventilator doing well then transfred here and then went down hill fast. I felt her head and she was hot so I told a nurse that she had a fever. Nurse said she just checked her and she didnt have one and her downhill slip was probably just shock at being on a trach. Instited she had a fever and had her check and surprise she had one. Turned out she had a UTI (infection) and once she was treated for it things got better for a week. Then a infectious disease sweept through the hospital and thankfully she was transferred. Took Doctor kumar 2 weeks to sign a simple form which he then he signed in wrong spot. Do not take anyone you love to this for profit death trap. read more

My friend was admitted to kindred hospital Melbourne a few months back though we knew he was not going to survive it was God's will that it was his time to go, kindred went above and beyond making his last weeks there as comfortable as could be,the compassion and respect they showed to him and his family went above and beyond ,my many thanks for helping all of us with this loss , kindred hospital made everything so much easier , from his comfort , to support for all of us going through a terrible time. thank you kindred for everything you did for my friend and for us in helping us deal with our loss. After reading all of the horrible reviews on Google, I should have pushed harder for my loved one to stay at Holmes, but he was doing well, and I figured if the family was there all the time and advocated for our loved one, it would be fine. How very wrong I was. Within 24 hrs, my loved one's airway was lost, and he was taken on an ambulance back to Holmes (he was transferred only thanks to the on call Doctor, who I am forever grateful to). He so far has had 2 extra surgeries, and is much worse off than when he left the hospital. Please please please listen to the bad reviews. They are real!! I am sure some of the nurses there are fabulous, but there is a lack of procedure and protocol, so you are really at the mercy of your caretaker. The last thing I wanted to be listening to was the nurses quibbling about calling in an extra nurse (citing the extra cost) since one was now in the ambulance with my loved one. How insulting and concerning for other patients. They don't seem to understand how very important their job is. read more

This occurred starting on Tuesday Dec 22 when my wife was having trouble breathing. I then asked that she be placed on oxygen. Wednesday, no improvement so I asked that she be placed back on her albuterol treatments. no improvement. I was given permission to spend the night with Charlotte on Christmas Eve and spend Christmas day with her by your staff which I appreciated, but as we progressed through the day on Christmas Eve, Charlotte continued to decline, rapidly. She became delirious, disoriented, and confused, complaining of cramps, that she was hot, that she was in pain, her respiration went to between 52-60 per minute and very shallow. she was demanding that I "take her to the hospital" and while I repeatedly assured her she was in a hospital and a good oneb she didn't understand, and continued to ask to be removed from your facility, in hindsight, I probably should have done so. They gave my wife and additional valium beyond her scheduled three to calm her down, along with her restoril 30mg(she only receives 10mg@home) Charlotte remained in an agitated and painful state. Everyone is wondering what is going on when I inquire about her pain medication and if she is being given anything for breakthrough pain, since being in your facility she has been on a much reduced dose compared to what she receives at home, 60 mg ER 2x30mg tid in your facility vs. 2x30mg tid at home with an allowable 7.5mg IR hourly prn, at home she averages between 90mg and 120mg or so daily, so was already partial withdrawel with the reduction while in your facility, but what I found out next is inexcusable. Apparently, your facilities use a medication management software program, which allow medications to "drop off or fall off" the chart for administration if not re-authorized by the physician. Also, this program gives prior notification if a medication is up for re-approval which is sometimes noticed by your nurses and staff and relayed to the Dr. it is not their job to do so, and the re-authorization and continued prescribing of the medication is the Dr.s responsibility. Well, either Dr. Modh or Dr. Patel, failed to re-authorize my wife's morphine on 12/21 one day prior to her beginning decline, and by 12/24 Charlotte was in full and complete physical withdrawel from her morphine, and I am sure you are aware how taxing and stressing this is on a reasonably healthy patient taking this for pain management would be. But, imagine how horrible it would be to a patient who is as fragile, brittle, and weak as my wife is? she has less than 20% of a heart, multiple strokes, tias, cerebral events, already being treated in a weakened state for infection control, and prior to the 21st she was recovering, able to feed herself, able to push herself up in bed, alert, awake, and conversational, now she is none of those things, and I honestly feel had we not recognized the mistake and problem on Christmas Eve, my wife would have died on Christmas Day. What a wonderful legacy you would have given to Me, and my, and her family and grandchildren. Such a great way to remember Christmas it would have been, but I digress. In addition to giving her an additional non-prescribed or non-scheduled dose of Valium to relieve her agitation and anxiety, staff was ordered to give her 1mg of IV Ativan push, now between her receiving her necessary Morphine, the valium, and the Ativan, she was able to finally calm down and sleep, then until the next morning, Christmas Day when neither I nor staff was able to rouse her. It took hours to get a Dr. on the phone to get her moved to CCU, and then staff finally did it, prior to having full approval to do so, I did appreciate that fact. Then they figured out to give her an antagonist to counteract the diazepam and lorazepam, and guess what.... she woke right up and was alert and conversational, again, she has reduced renal and hepatic and coronary function so all of these meds were backing up and not processing through her system quickly enough, they did not use naloxone so her pain management and reversal of withdrawel remained controlled. She was moved back downstairs, and everyone was trying to get a CT scan ordered, along with more x-rays.... again it took forever to get the Dr.s orders, and she did not receive the CT Scan until after 7 pm last night. The X-ray results show additional pleural efflusion in the lower lobe of her left lung, and the CT scan shows more shadowing/brain damage, which I fully believe was brought on by her heightened blood pressure while in Crisis and Withdrawel caused by inattention, negligence, and useless software. I do not blame your staff, they did everything they could, or knew how to do, but the lines of communication were FUBARed between staff and doctors, and this entire situation could have been avoided had my wife been receiving her pain medication as necessary, and the ball was dropped by Dr.s Patel and Modh. This is as good as it can get! My father has been in and out of many hospitals over the course of 2 years. I have never experienced such compassion from a group of heaven sent people in my entire life. The nurses and other staff took care of my father as if he was family. From the front door you feel welcomed. Very clean environment. Even though I lost my father I would not change a thing because they were always there comforting us and held his hand when he took his last breath. That means the world to us and we will never forget the group of angels there that made this difficult time tolerable. read more
