Staff of always great and the kids bussing the tables take great care of you. Food is good quality and portions are healthy. Bread, olive oil and parmesan cheese is a great appetizer provided. My only knock about the food is there's too much cheese on the pizza for a Neapolitan style pizza, but it is Wisconsin and the home of curd town. Live music and the open grounds on a beautiful evening can't be beat. They also provide short wagon a tractor rides through out the evening. The last time we were there we watched two hot air balls launch from the grounds.

A pretty nice wine place deep in the valley in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin…read more They said the seating was all full up top but we could sit at the lower bar or at the bottom, which wasn't an issue at all except that they were still a few hours out from close and had plenty of empty seats up top, and no new reservations or anyone came to ever fill them up until close (we left just a few minutes before closing). So I guess they just didn't want us to sit there? Idk. Lots of games, and even though it's outdoors it can be VERY noisy - lots of parties going on here. Big menu though, and obviously, some of the most gorgeous scenic views you can imagine down here. The vineyard also looked so good. Unfortunately they can't actually grow their own wine here. The soil is too sandy, even for WI/MN specialty grapes. So while they're trying, they just get their label of wine from Minnesota somewhere else instead. Still local enough, so that's okay for me - I would've been pissed if we came down here and all they had was California wine relabeled with a Wisconsin sticker, I can't stand that. So I'm glad they still had local options, local enough. Overall, a really nice place!

Have had Olio on the list of places to try for a while and a friend suggested making reservations…read more We went on a lovely Sunday evening for an early dinner. The space is small, but so adorable. There is also a nice patio. The cocktail and wine list were very intriguing, so decided to go for a cocktail. I tried the Sanka Ya Dead (mostly because of the name) and it was such a refreshing summer beverage. The food was spectacular. There was a corn appetizer special that I could not pass up. We also were among garlic bread fanatics, so had to get that as well. Both appetizers were delicious. I chose the rigatoni for my main with chicken parm. This was such yummy comfort in a bowl. The chicken parmesan was a giant piece, so you may have some leftover. I wasn't hungry enough to tack on dessert, but others got the olive oil cake and it looked good. I do recommend making a reservation, although bar seating appears to be first come, first serve. Definitely recommend a dinner at Olio.

They also have a couple specials that change every week so you can always try something new. Today we lucked out with delicious crab cakes! We also ordered the focaccia, ziti, risotto, chicken parm rigatoni and olive oil ice cream. Needless to say, we were very full when we left and had plenty of leftovers! It's a small space so definitely try to make a reservation to ensure a seat. I get the impression it's busy most nights!

DeGidio's is one of those "hidden treasures" on West 7th in St. Paul…read more The parking situation in St. Paul is always interesting but DeGidio's has ample off street parking and a significant amount of street parking too. They do take reservations, and they fill up. However, they reserve most of the tables and booths in their bar area for "walk-in". Today was our third time being here and we have never had to wait to sit. So the Bar...you would think that bar seating would be loud, crowded and uncomfortable with poor service. Nothing could be further from the truth. My wife and I were able to enjoy our meal and comfortable conversation. Now, for the food. They have an appetizer called "Pizza Fries". Having been frequent diners at Mama's, and having pizza fries there, that was what I was expecting, a garlic and butter pizza crust with cheese on it. This is not that. The pizza fries are pizza dough deep fried. Sounds simple, and it is...but they are so addicting. You will not be disappointed. Tonight my wife and I both ordered the special which was Chicken Parmesan in vodka sauce. The sauce was tangy and delicious. The Chicken Parm was done to perfection, the chicken was moist and the breading was well done. Over all, if you want Italian comfort food, this is the place to go.
