My son took us here on the recommendation of others. The place is very established with many customers on a Thursday night. After a few minutes wait we were seated in a booth in the bar area which reminded me of the bar from Cheers. The waitress was very attentive. For appetizers we got the pizza fries and bruschetta. We sampled various entrees and were very satisfied.

We went here with some friends and had never been before. Quickly we realized we would be back! We really liked the lighting and the decor. Lots of TV's for the guys to watch March madness and awesome desserts. Our server was nice but mixed up our order and receipt. Other staff was very friendly as well! We recommend the Cannoli's for dessert.

We visited DeGidio's this last week for the first time in a long time and what a fun night. We sat in the bar to catch up on MN sports as the Wild, Vikings and TWolves were all playing!! The bartender was fantastic and it was as fun to learn some of the history as this place has been a St Paul staple since 1933. Both the bar and dining room are cozy and the entire restaurant is full of regulars. Our dinners were yummy. Nothing over the top unique but solid pasta dishes and the tiramisu was delish. Great parking lot too. We'll be back.

Went to DeGidios for my birthday and had a nice time. The restaurant has been around for close to 100 years so I was excited to go back as I've been here before and had enjoyable experiences. They have a cozy lounge dining room that provides an intimate setting for dinner. The food we tried was very good. Their basic marinara sauce is very robust and is a great compliment to their meatballs. The bolognese sauce is fairly acidic and has a slight spice to it. We also liked the heirloom tomato bruschetta as a starter. There were some hiccups with the service tonight. It was slow to place an order, some of our food was forgotten and took a long time to pay for our meal. During the dinner we had to find someone to track down our server who was absent. Later in the dinner they were hanging out with a co worker in another booth and took their time to come back to collect our tab. Maybe if I wasn't visiting for a special occasion I wouldn't be so sensitive to this but it was a letdown. Luckily the food is good so I'll go again!

The wood tones and lighting here make for a beautiful backdrop to an old school Italian meal. Our waiter was pleasant and did a good job of highlighting the menu when I asked what was popular. Cocktails: prosecco and a beer (3/5) Appetizer: Italian Chopped Salad (4/5) Entrees: Pesto with Chicken (4/5) / Spaghetti and meatballs (5/5)

Went here for our monthly Dinner Club and it definitely did not disappoint! The food was very good and very reasonably priced

We came here for my wife's birthday--our first time--and it was a solid choice. We'd heard a lot of great things, so we were excited to finally try it. We made reservations and were seated right away, which was a great start. The host was friendly, and our server was attentive without being overbearing--checking in regularly on drinks and making sure everything tasted right. We kicked things off with the buffalo wings. They had great flavor without too much heat, which I personally enjoyed. For the main course, I went with the burger, and my wife ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. My burger was filling, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. The bun was just a touch on the firm side (I'll admit, I'm a bit of a burger snob), but overall it was very good. The fries, though, were excellent--definitely a highlight. My wife really enjoyed her dish as well--the sauce was creamy and flavorful, and the chicken was juicy. She mentioned it could've used a little fresh Parmesan and a bit more heat, since she likes some spice, but overall she was happy with it. Since it was her birthday they gave us a free desert and the server mentions the bread pudding which was very tasty. Overall, a great experience with good food, solid service, and a nice atmosphere. We'd definitely come back.

Went to celebrate a friend who was in town and this was very good pasta! I felt like it wasn't anything crazy but just well done dishes and great atmosphere. The staff were very kind and helpful when trying to decide a dish. Another plus is they have a large parking lot so you don't have to worry about finding parking.

Finally made it to DeGidio's for a long-overdue yap sesh with a friend, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It was packed (yes, worth the wait), but once seated everything was great. For starters, I enjoyed an N/A beer and my friend had the old fashioned sampler. We shared the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer. I enjoyed the lasagna and my friend had the blackened shrimp Alfredo (I snagged a bite) and yummy everything was delicious. Dessert is typically a non-negotiable for me, so I tried the tiramisu which was good, but my friend's chocolate lava cake was the standout. Friendly service, Yummo eats, cozy atmosphere, and we stayed until closing just chatting it up. Can't wait to come back to try the DeGidio's burger.

An Italian staple since 1933 in downtown St Paul. I finally tried it after my in-laws were raving about it. Definitely high expectations going in from an Italian girl who grew up in NY and ancestors to immigrants from Italy. We went in through the side door (bar area) - not the main entrance and were immediately greeted and brought to a lovely booth. The ambience is great and old school world. Like you're hanging out with some gangsters in Brooklyn. The service was top notch. Food: I ordered the gluten free pasta arrabiata with shrimp. It's a spicy red sauce with gfree fusilli pasta. It was very good but for the cost of pasta and red sauce and shrimp...unfortunately not worth the cost for this Italian gal. I have to mention that our food came out extremely quickly! It was like under 5 mins. Crazy! I also ordered a glass of rose which was great too. Dessert - I ordered the spumoni which did not disappoint. Cherry, chocolate and pistachio ice cream. An Italian staple. And no I didn't share with my hubby. lol. With that being said...the ambience was great. Server was attentive. Sauce was delish but in my mind, it's just not worth the cost. If you're going it's for the experience and atmosphere. I also overheard as I was walking to the restroom that people who didn't make a reservation would have to wait up to 2 hours for a table...it's popular so book if you want to go or go to the bar area.

Serving old recipes from years ago and still tastes like gold! Every single dish we had all natural ingredients that were different from each other. The appetizers were crisp and served fresh w/ lovely paring sauces This is a beautiful location with an amazing dark atmosphere. Great for dates, girls night out, or even solo dining.

We went here for my birthday dinner for the first time. We both love Italian and wanted something a little fancy! This was the perfect spot! The music wasn't too loud, the lights were dim, we felt cozy. We started with some cocktails. I had the mule and my fiance had an amaretto sour. The mule was good but a bit strong. The garlic cheese bread was very good and the marinara sauce with it was to die for! I had the pesto pasta with chicken and the chicken was perfectly done! The pesto sauce was nice and creamy! We ended with tiramisu and a scoop of gelato and it was so yummy!

Is manicotti ever an option on the menu? We've been on the hunt for some great manicotti in St. Paul. LOTS of us are craving it!

I don't believe DeGideo's serves manicotti but you will find it on the menu at Yarusso Brother's on Payne Ave.

Do you have off street parking?

    Yes and a small lot.

When we initially booked A'BULAE, we were impressed by the concept of an all-inclusive venue with dedicated vendors and day-of support. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of issues that culminated in a wedding day that felt disorganized and unsupported, despite all our planning efforts. 1. Cocktail hour bar service was severely understaffed, with only two bartenders for nearly 200 guests. Long lines led many guests to skip drinks entirely, despite this being a prominently featured and premium service. 2. Event coordination was lacking across the board. Our final updates were never reflected in the event documents. Tables and centerpieces weren't set when we arrived. Our monogram was never displayed. The rehearsal was completely unstructured, and our multiple attempts to hire a day-of coordinator were ignored. 3. Dinner was delayed by over an hour, with numerous guests receiving cold entrées. This disrupted the timeline and detracted from the guest experience. 4. The early access suite was not ready when we arrived, and no staff were present (at least not any that had any idea what was going on) during the hours we paid premium price for. Beverages ordered in advance for the morning were delivered far too late to be enjoyed. 5. Three uninvited individuals gained access to our wedding, ate and drank, and were caught smoking marijuana on the patio. No staff intervened; a family member had to address it. When we raised this afterward, management acknowledged that their security staff had no way to identify or remove uninvited individuals -- raising serious concerns about the purpose and effectiveness of security. In response to our feedback, the General Manager stated that they would use our wedding as a "learning experience" for future events. While perhaps well-intended, this reaction felt dismissive and insufficient given the seriousness of the issues. Even after the wedding, itemized receipts have not been provided, despite repeated requests. After discussing what steps were needed to rectify these grievances, there was yet another administrative error and significant delay, that has put us in a position today - nearly two months later, where we are still waiting on A'BULAE to follow through on promises made in writing. For a venue that promises high-end, all-inclusive coordination, A'BULAE failed to deliver on the most basic expectations. Communication was unreliable throughout the planning process, and the burden of managing key details ultimately fell on us and our families. We would not recommend A'BULAE to other couples.

Three weeks prior to the event we reached out and heard nothing for a week. Two weeks out we followed up and found out the Event Coordinator had changed from the one we booked with and the new one was out for an indeterminate period of time with a family emergency. They didn't know what the event was for. They were all very nice and let us know they had extremely limited information about our event which was very concerning for us. The Event Coordinator was present for about 5 mins to ask us about a backup wine if ours ran out and that was it (it did run out because there was only one bottle). There was no Event Captain, and the Coordinator was not on hand and (according to staff) unreachable during the event. We had agreed upon several things including a finite amount to pay for "open bar" and then switching to card after that point and we found out only AFTER we met our minimum that they were never told/weren't prepared to take cards. At that point, our options were no drinks (N/A or otherwise) for the last 3 hours or so of our event or we could just keep paying. So we ended up paying much more than was quoted/agreed upon due to lack of communication/oversight. We were told that guests could visit the attached Blue Stem bar, but it closed two hours before our event ended. We also had guests with dietary preferences/restrictions and had ordered vegan options and gluten free cake. We had asked if these could be explicitly labeled to avoid confusion and were told "yes" and on the day it did not happen so many of our guests were unaware there was anything they could eat at our reception. We were also told we could take our leftovers home and we only got cake when there was a lot of food left when they took it away. The sternos were out for some period of time and we couldn't find someone to help with that. The bar was left unattended. The bartenders were serving and refilling alcohol table to table (which we did not want or ask for), and did not pass appetizers as agreed upon. We reached out to the owner, twice, following our event to discuss our concerns to no avail. We LOVE French Meadow and are just heartbroken to have had this experience with them. Posting this (very lengthy) review in hopes no one else goes through this expensive disappointment.

We were married and hosted a reception for twenty two guests in the Nord Room/French Meadow Bakery…read more& Cafe. It was so fabulous and we cannot say enough positive things about our experience! All of French Meadow's staff were so lovely to work with. Briana and the entire catering group were so helpful from Day 1. As most wedding couples do, we had a lot of questions about logistics and planning. They answered every one of our questions in a timely manner and were thorough in coordinating all of the details of our special day. The day of our wedding, everyone there was immensely helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We truly owe them the world for making our wedding day so special! The room is perfect. We added floral centerpieces, but the room itself was setup exactly how we wanted, the chairs outside were moved once for our ceremony and then again for our first dance. The lighting both inside and out was more than we could have imagined. We were able to play our own music (a friend just had to manage the playlist), which was super easy! The FOOD, OH MY GOSH THE FOOD! So superb, we got so many compliments from our friends and family about how wonderful the food was. We got to choose 4 food options for our guests and only heard wonderful things about each entree. The cake was also super wonderful and delicious. We would recommend the Nord Room to anyone looking for an intimate wedding location. It was such an easy day (seriously, nothing went wrong!) and we couldn't have asked for a better staff or location. We had a beautiful day and we owe much of that to the wonderful folks at French Meadow!
