Super clean, friendly staff and the hotel is incredibly beautiful, right on the water.

Sugar Beach Resort - View from my balcony at Sugar Beach

    Sugar Beach Resort

Pretty nice place overall…read more The people in 103 have hoarded a bunch of what look like the communal chairs on the part of the shared beach that's near their balcony (under several other balconies), and they might make a big stink if you sit in them, so watch out for that (maybe you can help them move the shared chairs to a part of the shared beach where it won't bother them).

Sugar Beach Resort was an excellent choice for my family group. Two grocery stores within walking distance made this easy, plus you could find the local McDonalds, Subway and Leo's Chicken for the inexpensive getaway fast-meal, popular when traveling with children. Daily rental car was inexpensive and they pick up and drop off! This gave us unlimited access to explore the island, shop Christiansted and take in some of the great dining in town. Driving is fun and easy despite being on the opposite side of the road. We really enjoyed and appreciated the on-property experience relaxing by the pool or on the beach as well as quiet times on the unit's private deck. I particularly recommend driving about the island taking at least one full day to stop and explore the remote beaches to the east, rainforest hills to the west and ending the day with dinner at Cain Bay's Eat! Great food selection and a view that can't be beat. Next trip will include scuba diving! Beginners are welcome so non-certified divers can take a 1/2 day class and a reef trip with an instructor.

The next morning I called the office as soon as it was open when I went to clerk, I told them my concerns the clerk reassured me that our next room would be better; however, the second unit ac was not working and although we asked at least four different times no one ever fixed it, there was black mold everywhere, we expected the air conditioner to be working when we returned from Burch but it was not and although we reached out to the staff no one ever came to fix it. To add we were also told on our third day, only after inquiring that the internet was down & therefore the tv would not work. I actually have pictures of all the mold, the room was so unbearable we had to stay on the beach or visit family to avoid the room the whole visit and after finding mold behind the bed we had to vacate the unit in the middle of the night. It was my husband birthday weekend and it was an absolute nightmare. To add I've been a RN for 15 years and the risk of getting sick from staying in either of those units was high. I have stayed at all types of locations on St. Croix and this was the worst place we have ever experienced anywhere.

When we visit, we always stop at The Palms at Pelican Cove. We like to grab some drinks and eat dinner here. You can't beat an oceanview. The ambiance is great! In the past, they had live music. Unfortunately, there was no live music tonight. They have a nice selection of cocktails. I love the frozen drinks. The lavaflow was my jam. You can't beat light and strawberry rums blended with pineapple juice, strawberry puree, and coco-lopez. My husband chose the painkiller, which is an island favorite. For our entree, we split the Veggie Stir Fry and added chicken. The sides were extra, so we passed. The service was great. We will definitely be back.
