Last night I heard a loud pop when I closed the garage door. Unfortunately, one of the cables broke & the garage door wouldn't close all the way. I called King Door Co. as soon as they opened on Saturday morning & was happy to learn that a technician was available immediately. King Door, we knew we would inevitably need to use you at some point when we bought our house in 2018! We first came across this shop during a local home reno business showcase that was designed like a treasure hunt? It was very cool. Prizes were given out at the end and everything. That was initially how this place was put on our radar. We then bought the house which had a label on the garage door saying this company installed it. 2020 decided to continue wreaking havoc on our lives (long story) with our garage opener failing. No, not just the remote. The entire opener/lift system. A horrendous noise started everytime we used the door, so my handy fiance tightened the chain or belt or whatever it was (i am not well versed in garage door knowledge) since he used to install garage doors professionally. It didn't like that and completely gave out. We called once and got pricing, but ultimately decided to wait a few weeks and weigh our options. Really bummed that I have to leave such a low rating. This has 100% to do with the process and communication of getting a new garage door installed. The installer Clayton was awesome and none of the issues were anything to do with his excellent service and the way he helped my wife. So King Door was referred to me by our old friend and Contractor Brian Wood. They had also just installed a garage door at my next door neighbors with Brian's referral. So I called King Door to get a quote on a new door for our house. I spoke with a sells person Angelina who set up an appointment for someone to come out and measure our door. Unfortunately the first day he came over Brian was painting our fence and he could not access the inside of the garage. So he came out the next day got the measurements and also had informed Angelina of things that needed to be moved if we went with their services. I removed a shelf and took down our kayaks as instructed by Angelina. The installer came out the next day only to see that more stuff needed to be moved. So instead of telling me over the phone they sent out a person and he showed me what needed to be moved and to call back when the area was cleared which I did. So now today Wednesday Clayton comes out and calls in a to Angelina and says that even move stuff needs to be moved. My wife came out to unlock the gate just incase they needed to cut power to the garage for the new opener. Clayton explained to my wife that most of the items in our garage needed to be moved along with a shelf that was in front of the garage. She's calls and explains to me what is happening and stated that they would move the items but charge us $225 which I told her that I had moved everything that I was told to move and absolutely not to agree to have them charge us and additional $225. I called Angelina only to be told that the person that came out to let me know what needed to be moved was on vacation and she couldn't get his side of the story, which I'm not sure what customer service training she went through was the worst thing to say to an angry customer. Not knowing that my wife with Claytons help had already moved the items that were in the way of he work area. I told her that she could cancel our job and remove the credit card on file that they obviously do not have their crap together that we would just go with a different company. Since my wife and the awesome help of at least one person in the company that can make things right for a customer had removed the items my wife told him to go ahead and complete the job. Again this entire process was a cluster and could have been avoided if Angelina or the first Guy, or even the seconded Guy had left the sheet that explains the size of area that needs to be clear to install the garage door. Clayton is 100% 5 Stars and saved this company a lost job and hopefully gets an award for being a great employee and customer service representative. I hope the owner reviews this post and takes corrective measures to insure this doesn't happen to another customer. I had my garage opener replaced and unfortunately the technician did not do a good job. In addition to it being the most basic one. I contacted the business once again and mentioned the discrepancies, they scheduled me another technician and he did a decent job in adjusting some of the discrepancies.
