KATRINA KURTH, OWNER OF KING GEORGE CRITTER SITTERS, NEARLY KILLED MY DOG.
I hired Katrina to take Kiba, my 10 month old husky, out for a walk once a day, a couple of days a week and return him to his kennel. On her 4th visit, she took my pup out for his walk then opened my front door and let him into the house without returning him to his kennel. Left unattended for several hours, my puppy got a hold of a bottle of Motrin and ate it. When I returned home, I immediately saw what had happened and took my pup to the emergency vet hospital. I called Katrina and asked her why she didn't put him in the kennel, as instructed and she said, "I just thought someone was home". I reminded her that I had instructed her to always return him to his kennel. When I told her I was on the way to the emergency vet hospital, she sarcastically said, "Sorry." I was so stunned by her apathetic response, I just hung up. The next day, I wrote to her and told her that I would not be using her services any longer and that, although I did not plan on taking this matter to court, I did expect her to cover the vet bill, either out of her own pocket or through her insurance since she failed to follow instructions for the safety of my pet. She never responded. The following day, Kiba's kidneys started to fail. I took him to my regular animal hospital where they took steps to try and save him. I wrote to her again and asked her for her insurance information since it was apparent that this was going to be a much larger vet bill. She never responded. Finally, my husband called from his phone and she answered. She quite rudely told him that she had spoken to her insurance company and an attorney and that they told her she didn't do anything wrong so she should just ignore me. I sent her a text and told her that insurance companies take claims and investigate before making a decision so it was evident that she did NOT contact her insurance company. After I finally got her insurance information, the representative confirmed that Katrina had not contacted them. Kiba's health was so grave that we really thought he would not make it. After a week of life-saving measures and thousands of dollars, my wonderful veterinarian saved Kiba's life. I posted the story of Kiba's battle on facebook but did not put Katrina's name out there. I was still hoping she would do the right thing. The following week, I went into my local dog food store and the owner asked me if the dog walker was Katrina Kurth because she had another customer whose pup had died when Katrina failed to secure him, ran into the road and was struck by a car. Once again, Katrina failed to take any responsibility for her actions. I was so shocked and saddened by the story that I decided I needed to post something so that no one else would unwarily use this irresponsible woman's "services" again without fair warning. read more
