We were SO relieved when we found Calypso and learned that they offer no-contact boarding. Knowing there was an option that would keep both Fester and the staff safe while still making sure he was well cared for gave us so much peace of mind, especially since we were going to be out of the country for an extended trip. We were told that by about day four, Fester had warmed up and settled into his routine, and that he was on his best behavior throughout his stay! When we picked him up, he was happy, healthy, and clearly had been very well taken care of. We also want to give a huge thank you to every member of the staff who helped care for him. Fester is getting older and requires quite a bit of medication on a daily basis, so we know his care was not exactly simple. Knowing that everyone took the time to follow his routine, give him his medications, respect his boundaries, and keep our guy comfortable while we were thousands of miles away means more to us than we can say. Before this trip, the thought of boarding Fester was honestly something we worried about. Now, having a place we know can safely and successfully care for him gives us such a sense of relief for future trips. Thank you to everyone at Calypso Kennels for taking such good care of our guy. They gave a whole lecture about how they love all of their dogs and have the right to take the dog back if they find out it's not being treated well, etc., etc. My dogs they didn't care so much about. My beagle was bleeding when I picked him up. Nothing was said to me about it. And both dogs had their harnesses wrapped around their necks instead of properly on their bodies. I was told the staff didn't know how they worked. Really? Just be aware. They look like a great facility, but they may not give you the service they promise.

To my surprise, I received a reply within a couple hours and my visit was scheduled. The day arrived and on a rainy Sunday, I was excited especially because I had visited many pet stores farther away and had horrible experiences. Well, I rang the doorbell and to my surprise, no one was there. A male spoke through the camera, busy street very hard to hear, so I retreated back to my car. Shortly after he coordinated with me for a phone call and I was informed that the puppy I was there to see was in fact sold the day prior. He explained that being the owner, he was very apologetic and would ensure a discussion with the "staff" member would occur and he was uncertain how the "scheduler" could have made a mistake. I don't really the lady's name but I'm almost certain it was the same name as the lady's name who was mentioned as his wife in a Fredricksburg news article when their business was acknowledged by the city a couple years ago. Nonetheless he tried to make it right by offering his services in the future and understood if I would choose not to do business with him again. He also offered to meet me at the boutique to see the puppies that were currently available and to send pictures of future breeds of interest, which he did but I was not interested. Long story short, 5 stars on how the owner handled the situation and how he tried to rectify the situation. 1 star on scheduling, follow up, and common courtesy to inform someone if the puppy they are scheduled to see was sold. This practice is a bad look because it implies the most important aspect is money and not necessarily finding a perfect fit home. Also, the dogs are there alone unless there is a visit schedule seems like a lonely life. The concept is great. One on one with puppies and an experience to match, just not my experience. It all worked out for the best in the end.

We showed up at 7:30 AM on a beautiful morning, and even though the weather was perfect for waiting outside, the team graciously invited us in. Everyone in the queue seemed pleased and thankful--there was a calm, grateful energy in the room that really stood out. I saw many, many cats being brought in for surgery too, and the staff handled everything smoothly and with heart. While we waited, I noticed how patient and attentive the team was with other pet parents who had lots of questions. Nobody was rushed, and everyone walked away feeling reassured. When it was time to pick up Coco, I received clear, caring instructions about what to expect in the days ahead. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. After such a positive experience, I'm genuinely surprised by the low Yelp rating. I scheduled the appointment + Rabies and they text me two days before to verify some information. There was a discrepancy with her FVCRP and they needed to give her a 4th dose. I agreed although was hesitant due to a possible reaction with her third one. I also asked about receiving extra pain meds to take home with me which they normally don't do. When I arrived the day of, things moved quickly, check in was easy, and staff were friendly. I literally didn't encounter one rude or inconsiderate person while there. The front desk lady asked more about the FVRCP, noted the possible reaction and printed my medical records and highlighted it so the vet could assess and decide which I true appreciated as I was already hesitant to give rabies with the spay. They later called me to say they weren't going to do it because they didn't want any possible issues. Again SUPER thankful for that! I picked her up around 5:15, she was a little loopy still and I did receive my extra pain meds. The front desk did say she would likely sleep the whole way home (1hr) and oddly that was not the case. She was very anxious, irritable, and agitated coming out of the anesthesia to the point that I couldn't even put the cone on her when we got home. She was thrashing around and chewing at her incision and I was afraid for her safety so we ended up going to an UrgentVet for some sedation medication (Gabapentin) which ultimately helped calm her down enough that she laid down. This is likely a one off situation and I don't fault the clinic at all! I only give 4 because I do feel like you should at least be offered pain/sedation meds after the procedure - I know these are difficult to give pets sometimes which is why they don't, but the option may prevent some of this in the future. Regardless, I had a great experience with the clinic the pricing was what I anticipated (and paid 10yrs ago), the staff were wonderful, and everything looks good so far. Would highly recommend for a cheaper option as I know other quotes I got were upwards of $800 and it was only $112 for rabies + spay + meds/cone.

We'd stayed well past opening time and were not rushed, we were treated like family, and that's more than we could have asked for. The compassion and kindness that we felt was everything. Over the past few years, we've always been very pleased with how Confederate Ridge has taken care of our girl. Surgery, diagnosis of skin problems (that we'd been paying for injections at $100 a pop at another vet, who completely misdiagnosed and overcharged us), and general checkups - always on point. We could tell she was loved and cared for by staff whenever we showed up. There's usually a wait to be seen, and appointments can take a while to get with how popular CRAH has become. Even though we live over an hour and a half away, I'd still come back here if we add to our family again.
