There was a time when you could go to the GW Battle Bunker and most people in the area knew what…read morethat meant and where you were headed... Sadly those days are gone along with the Bunker, of old. Cue the new Games Workshop Bowie Bunker. This was the location chosen to handle the masses that need to get their n3rd on and roll some dice. "The Good" - In addition to the standard speech that the employees are (literally) forced to give, these guys are caring and well informed about the hobby and also can carry on a conversation if corporate would let them. - Almost full selection of GW products. - Cool display cases filled with painted miniatures. - Plenty of tables to play games on and scenery to boot. - A painting / Hobby area that can seat about twenty. "The Meh" - The location is kinda out of the way. - They are definitely not set up for attracting foot traffic. There is an insane corridor that leads from the entrance to where the store actually is. - The stools / chairs are beyond uncomfortable... - The parking lot is too small for how busy the center is. "The Bad" - Nothing really bad to comment on.

Today was my first time at this store, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff there are all…read morevery helpful, and seemed genuinely passionate about the hobby just as much as I am. Which was kind of a shock to me as in the the past, the feeling I always got from GW employees was one of arrogance and a general disdain for all of the hobbyists that frequented their store. The store itself was clean and boasted a large number of gaming tables along with a very strong selection of GW products. On top of all this, I was very excited to learn that the staff consistently hosts all kinds of events for the hobby. While this a solid sales tactic in its own right it's still nice to know that there is always something new and fun to attend at Games Workshop Bowie. There is only one complaint I have about the store. They provide seating for the painting/modeling stations but no where else. This means that there is not one chair for those gaming in the store at all those gaming tables I mentioned earlier. I have no idea why they would do something like this other than to maybe make it uncomfortable for players to stay any longer than the length of time it would take for one game, and then go home, thereby allowing more people to come in and spend more money. Just a guess. I have no love for the business side of Games Workshop. Every business must make money to survive but Games Workshop really seems to go out of their way to alienate their customers by constantly increasing their prices to the point of which many hobby enthusiasts end up moving on to another game system or quitting the hobby altogether. If it wasn't for the sheer quality of the product that GW produces, I would be counted as one among them too, but I have a passion for the product and find it simply amazing after 13 years of being a devoted fan of the Warhammer 40k, and WarhammerFantasy line of miniatures and games. So I've learned to take the companies fascist business tactics with a grain of salt, and try my best just to enjoy the hobby and forget about the rest. As for this store, I recommend it for any GW hobbyist. It's a haven that truly promotes the hobby I enjoy, and hope to enjoy for many years to come.

During COVID, my partner and I did about a puzzle every week. We now have cases of puzzles that we did one time, then packed away! I brought a few, so we could swap them out for a few "easier" puzzles that my kids could do. It's such a cool idea and love it and came back with 3 kiddo options. The store is so wonderful, located right across the way from Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. All of the staff is not just incredibly friendly, but quick to offer advice on games and puzzles to take home. There is a room where you can attempt puzzles and games. We spent several hours here just enjoying all of the entertainment. It's a great rainy or snowy day activity. The bookstore just next door is a perfect pairing.

Even just browsing through was fun as I discovered so many board games i had not heard of before, noting them down for any future game nights. Inside, the store was well organized by styles and categories, and the staff were all incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Pricing was reasonable, and I highly recommend anybody who enjoys games take a gander for all their gaming needs.

There is also an area to the right of the entrance where you can pay a $10 fee per person to play a large assortment of games they have in their board game room. I came in with a gift card, looking to purchase a new game for myself. I wasn't too sure what I wanted, so I asked an employee for some advice, and she was wonderful! She took the time to learn what types of games I enjoy playing and walked me through a few different recommendations, explaining how the gameplay worked for each of them. Everyone I interacted with at this store were such wonderful people. I'll definitely return in the future and bring along some friends to play in the game room!

My 9 year old was in the game room with his friend and one of the employees came out and made a huge deal about unaccompanied minors. These kids were quietly playing 50 feet away from me and she acted like they were trashing the place. Nowhere in the store or on the website does it post an age limit for playing in the game room and beyond that there is a way to enforce rules without being rude about it.
