These people are con artists. They lied to me about my case, and jerked me around for months, and I ended up having to hire another lawyer.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I'm pretty sure they must've got their attorneys from the bottom of the garbage can. They will run your case and swear they work over "300 hours on your case" but has nothing to show.. Then when it's time for court, the attorney you hire WILL not show up, someone completely different from the office will show up, and no communication about it before. I came in the office, respectfully, awaited Miss Anna Kegley, hat in hand. She and I spoke about (1) Joint Custody document, in which, that's ALL B/W my case. I was Pro Se. Nothing messy, easy for her. I explained, I am unable to see my son, as Post Traumatic Stress is being used against me. Evidently, there is an outstanding Ex Parte. So, I needed her help. She asked for $3500. I wrote a check for $5,000. That was on March 30th. Today is the 11th day of April. I fired Anna Kegley, TODAY-asked for a refund as I wasn't aware $300 would be taken before she did ANYTHING, despite the $50 fee(in which consultations are mostly free-AND it applies to your balance if NOT) AND it didn't apply to my account..(see below)...those that charge are typically on the ball. Setting on your hands for 11 days is just NOT ok. The desk has $50. Miss Anna has $300. I still have a son I cannot see. -$350.... While the office, scurried to find someone for me to speak with, I still got NOTHING but, many apologies. Miss Snippet stated, I could speak with the Branch Manager??? I said it wouldn't be a good idea, as most likely the law would be called as I was feeling rather rowdy. She stated it was a lady, I said well then we will NOT meet. Made no threats, DID NO screaming. Just watched an entire firm squirm...rather enjoying. Considering I have been for 11 days.... To be expected, $350 and NO sign of my lawyer??? WOW!!! It's just $350 and still no sight of my son-OR Miss Kegley for that matter. NOBODY would be upset (eyes rolling). I called back, and stated I was rather surprised, Miss Anna(who was available, but wouldn't see me) hasn't called. NOT even AFTER asking for $5000-$350...NO reconciliation, they'll always be another sucker. That's how they operate. Guess, there was no money to be made. Just her having to answer WHY? Inaction of 11 days....Had another Miss Snippet state "I came in and threatened to do whatever she slurred while screaming. Really? That didn't happen. I drove two hours to court just for my attorney I hired to not be there with no communication from anyone else that I wouldn't have legal counsel that I PAID FOR!! I highly DONT recommend this law office. They left me in the dark during my court date. Getting there at 9 am in court I sit and wait, while the other parties attorney is there and ready for trial and my attorney is nowhere to be found. After about 25 mins of waiting, The opposing attorney then goes and finds another lawyer from king law which then reveals to the judge my lawyer "has covid" which is actually a personal health information violation. I then have to speak up for myself and tell the judge we have to do something because I can't keep traveling down here for court dates and my lawyer not be there. It ended up getting resolved that day, but I am still upset at the actions of king law after this. I go to the office immediately after court and express how I felt about NOBODY calling me to tell me I didn't have a lawyer to represent me, and everyone was so sympathetic and apologetic... saying I am being nicer than most people would be... but weeks later when I call to ask about what my case manager said she would call me back about last week, everyone's got a new attitude and there are going to be "no adjustments" to my bill... even though THEY did not do their job and communicate with me and now I can't speak to the case manager I spoke to last week, and the general manager won't be returning my call because "it's been closed and I am not receiving any adjustments"..... I've been told my only two options are to talk to accounting or to file something with the BAR. Meanwhile they've taken thousands of dollars from me for NOTHING! And all they have to say is "we've done the work on these invoices, no refunds" but they won't discount for failing to actually do their job! You hire a lawyer to be there for you, and to guide you through the court process and I've had the complete opposite this whole time that I have had King Law represent me. Paid all of this money to be alone through the process of court. I should have just represented myself. I wouldn't be so stressed about why my legal team won't give me answers in a reasonable time. Calls take days if not a week and a half to be returned, everyone is too busy to talk but they aren't too busy to charge you $400 to file papers or to have an in house meeting. I was a returning customer and I had actually recommended Brian king from past experiences; but it is obvious that now that his firm has gotten so large the quality has went down. So yeah, hire King Law if you want to waste your money on people who don't actually care about your issues and care more about how they can suck every $300/hr out of you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I hired King Law to represent me in a matter of guardianship for my mom. I hired Jack Holbrook in Lincolnton, NC. He was not at our 1st initial meeting, was told something came up & the clerk handled the meeting (this was the 1st red flag). There was no communication by Mr. Holbrook & I never met him, I always spoke with the caseworker. He never called me to discuss the case or get any details. In the agreement signed in the beginning it advised to limit contact with attorney because they charged for each call, email, etc. (& they did $25-$50 for a 1 minute call or email) - which is why I did not push to always speak with the attorney (2nd red flag), because we were trying to save money. Mr. Holbrook missed the deadline to file my case in NC & continued to delay meanwhile continuing to charge me for all this so-called work & phone calls to different attorney's (obviously he did not know about guardianship rules in NC). After four months he finally called me for the 1st time & I asked to move my case to the Rutherfordton office, which he said he would do the next business day, which he did not - he lied. After no communication or contact, I filed a grievance with the NC Bar Assoc & the BBB. There is a lot more to this terrible experience that happened, but long story short - once the new attorney took over & having to start all over after 4 months, I wanted the $2,400+ returned to the trust so I could pay the new attorney. They refused to return the money, called me & threatened to drop me as a client if I did not pull my complaint from the BBB (cannot pull complaint from NC Bar) saying the attorney client relationship had been broken. They ultimately did drop me because I asked to have an in person meeting with the general manager, Kimberly Mullinax to discuss the issues & justify the charges that Mr. Holbrook charged for doing nothing on my case and because I refused to accept them stealing $2,400+. After talking with numerous people in the community and reading the other Facebook comments, it is understood that this is their way to do business - I wish I had known this before I called them. They drain the client dry of funds in the trust account, meanwhile acting like they are doing all this work when actually they are doing is NOTHING. Once they use up all your money they will then come back & say they need more money to finish the case. They are frauds & crooks & I absolutely recommend finding ANOTHER HONEST FIRM who are not getting rich from taking advantage of people during difficult times! read more
