We had our company Christmas party here and it was wonderful. The space was very big and had simple but nice holiday decor. The bar for the cocktail hour was big and you were able to get pretty much anything. Now the food was amazing and it had something for everyone. There was bbq brisket, sweet tea sauce grilled chicken and cedar plank salmon. For the sides we had broccolini's and Brussels sprouts with mashed potatoes as well cornbread and biscuits. Definitely a great venue to hold various types of events and there is security there so you also feel safe. I would recommend this venue for another event. read more

I came here for a company event, and it made me wonder why in the world I'd been sleeping on Atlanta's art center. The last time I went to Atlanta was about 10 years ago so maybe it wasn't as pronounced. Or, I could've just really not noticed it, but from the time I got off the plane, I saw a really cool piece in Atlanta's airport and started to notice a pattern while I was traveling through ATL. I really think this place is cool. I like reading the history of the art lofts, seeing the plows and admiring the open space. The big speaking room on the main floor is a nice location for dinner and catering. Although I wasn't at all thrilled with the catering service's customer service on Fri., May 16 (the leader had an attitude, shrugged the two times I asked her innocent questions like "Should we move our forms off the table so you guys can clean up?" and "Who do I tell I need a vegetarian option to?") kept barking orders at her helpers, and I thought the servers were rather rude, I'm not sure if the two are directly related. I was thrown off when I told one server that I'm a vegetarian before she sat a meat order on my table. Her response? She rolled her eyes and stormed off. I wouldn't recommend those caterers or the gross eggplant dish I had. It was salty, chewy and horrible. But I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this location. I got to see one of the lofts and it had an incredible amount of paintings, photo collages and modern office equipment all around. Even the kitchen area is jazzy. People can easily move around, mingle, drink, talk and for the techies there are plenty of places to plug and charge phones and laptops while socializing. I love the back deck area where people can hang out and enjoy the weather. And the statue of the person coming out of bricks is pretty cool, too. Overall, I would've given the place five stars if not for the surprisingly rude catering company. But again, I can't confirm the two are tied together. It's possible that the catering company was hired to service the location but not part of the plow center. If so, the two definitely don't need to mix. read more

I can't wait to explore this spot more. Goodness gracious it is one of the most wonderfully intricate places I've had the pleasure of visiting over on Westside in quite some time. I found my way over to King Plow before for a show at Terminal West, but I had never explored the rest of the campus, nor have I explored all there is to offer just yet! I recently came by on a Friday for a coffee cupping at Counter Culture Coffee (located in suite M-210) and also to see friends at GLA. It's such a wonderfully old, but perfectly revitalized spot for offices, exhibits, art, shows, entertaining, and more. I also got a bit of history on the facility -- It was an old plow factory back in the day. There are still remnant pieces of equipment throughout the grounds which were used for creating plows. So cool to see. This spot was owned by the King family -- hence "King Plow." Just a gorgeous facility. In my opinion, Atlanta is lacking when it comes to work spaces with some personality. King Plow is a cluster of historic industrial buildings on Atlanta's upcoming west wide featuring incredible lofted spaces, exposed brick and duct-work, and years of history. Every brick, bolt, and pillar has a story to tell (if not a few). The spaces at King Plow vary pretty wildly, from about 800 square feet to thousands, and there are all kinds of businesses here. King Plow includes event spaces (like Fifth Groups Studio 887 and Bold American catering HQ), the King Plow Event Gallery, Lofted live/work spaces for lease, "do" restaurant, and an upcoming event space geared toward live music and performance. You don't have to be a "creative" business to work here but your business will probably be more creative because of it. I'd say most of the tenants are involved in the arts in one way or another - whether it be an advertising agency, a dance instructor, the Paul Mitchell school, or a casting firm. It also isn't rare to see a production crew here - i've seen at least 3 since i moved in. This space makes for an awesome backdrop if you're a location scout. I've been at King Plow for about a year now and I love it - in fact I'll be moving into a new space shortly in the same building. The parking here is atrocious, but you learn the general schedule of most people and finding spots becomes much easier. Worst case you may have to walk from the lot at the end of the property. Another thing to be cognizant of is the train tracks. Personally, being near active tracks has always brought me comfort and made me feel connected. The trains rolling through make more low-speed rumble than 'choo-choo,' so it really isn't disturbing. If you're a growing business I'd highly recommend giving King Plow a look. We considered a lot of other options, including some of those "virtual" places, and we've never regretted our decision. King and his staff are extremely helpful and are also very flexible and fair with leases. read more

Nice Nice Nice! Let's just say I had a world wind of an weekend! Crown Royal event was held here on Friday night....The Art Center is a nice place to host any event. The Crown Royal was pouring all night....check out some of the mixture of drinks with Crown Royal that were being served... .Now, I had no clue you could mix brown liquor with all that's below (but there was much more combo's): 1.) Of course your cola and lime with Crown 2.) But wait! Raspberry Liqueur, cranberry juice and the Royal 3.) List goes on! Peach schapps, Raspberry Liqueur, Cranberry Juice and of course the Royal The combinations were something I would never even think to mix with Crown Royal... Let's just say what an event! read more

We were in town for a wedding. And you guessed it... the wedding was here. Actually both the wedding and reception were both here. This place is really cool. It is in an old plow factory as the name implies. But for being an old warehouse, they really updated the place to feel upscale while keeping the rustic atmosphere. I am not sure what staff was with the venue and what staff was with the wedding/caterer. But everyone was very friendly and helpful. Overall this was a fantastic venue and would be great to accommodate any size crowd. The only complaint was the parking situation. For a venue this size, the parking capacity was lacking and the wedding was forced to have valet. But overall the cool atmosphere of the venue can overcome that obstacle. read more

King Plow is truly one of the finest spaces for music in town. I have been to a few events here, some music related, some not. I always have a nice time. First, there is ample FREE parking. Secondly, the staff are great to work with. No snooty bouncers or inattentive bartenders. The space is clean (both in cleanliness and decoration/design). The rooms I have experienced are open and inviting. The vibe here is definitely more chill than many place in Atlanta that I have gone to see live music. I have no idea why that is, but I hope it stays that way. read more

My sister had her wedding here, in a large beautiful room used for public functions. From what I gathered of the other shops, this place is pretty much an artists' haven. As Rebecca mentioned below they have photography studios, dance schools, art galleries and etc. all packed into this nice, modern complex. There's also a restaurant (where we saw Stevie Wonder eating dinner!) and other public areas for use. The facility my sister used for her wedding was absolutely perfect and beyond memorable. They had a long hallway lit with candles that led into the main room, ringed with curtains. I believe they run many kinds of functions from this room, and if you're looking to put on some kind of event with a moderate budget, this would be a great place to look into. If Stevie Wonder hangs around here, you better imagine it's pretty dope. read more

I went here for a wedding and it was beautiful with a lot of natural light. The only issue that I had as a girl, but no big deal was that the floor is a bit uneven so you need to watch where you are walking. Otherwise it was a lot of fun. read more

This wide expanse of buildings is known collectively as the King Plow Art Center. More than 60 tenants occupy the space (which can also be rented out for private parties). Tenants include photographers, sculptors, painters, printmakers, architects, graphic designers, advertising agencies, art galleries and dance schools, amongst others. Very cool. read more

I've been to King Plow twice now for private events. The most recent was for the launching of a premier furniture line by designer Mimi Tin. Everything went perfectly including the red carpet entrance and photo opp before signing in. The new Sushi Style benches and chairs took the center stage in the main room where all the guests could touch, sit, and order. There was also a second room in the back with tables and seating but that did not get as much use as the main room. For hosting an event this is a great location except for the valet parking. It was raining that evening and the valet line was so long we ended up parking near the back of the lot. The walk to and from was not that bad. While this place is gorgeous with the exposed brick and ceiling ventilation, I'm not sure I would ever personally pick this place for an event. I have only attended one event here, but seeing what the coordinators had to go through turned me off from planning any of my future events here. Tables that were promised weren't provided and as a volunteer setting up, I didn't get a great vibe from the gentleman in charge of the facility. At the end of the night because the crew was so eager to leave, they were putting trays and containers of food on the floor to get the tables to put away before we could get the food packaged up. While I was only a volunteer and not a coordinator, if it was my event I would not want my leftover food on the floor! read more

I got married at Studio 887 at the King Plow Arts Center on 1/8/22. The food was wonderful but the customer service provided by Bold was terrible. We initially worked with Danielle. During the tour, I specifically asked her about access to the venue before the wedding and she assured me that we could have access all day on the day of the event. Before I signed the contract I asked Danielle if Bold staff would place the centerpieces I brought on the reception tables when they "flipped" the room during the cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception. Again, she assured me that this wouldn't be a problem. As we got closer to the wedding I reached out to Danielle with questions via email. It often took several days to a week to hear anything back from her (even just an acknowledgment that she received my email). When I scheduled our food tasting, I asked Danielle if we could arrive 30 minutes early so my mom could see the venue and we could discuss details with her. Danielle said that was fine and confirmed with me the day before. My parents drove in from out of town to attend the tasting. When we arrived and asked for Danielle, Autumn came out and told us that Danielle was on a flight back to Atlanta and wouldn't be a the tasting. She then asked us why we were there early! A few days later, we were informed by email that Autumn would now be our contact person. I was hoping she would be a little more responsive, but that was not the case. It was like pulling teeth answers to simple things like the width of the tables they provide. Autumn also informed us that we would not be able to access the venue until 3 hours before the event. I explained that I discussed earlier access with Danielle and was told it wouldn't be a problem but she told me they would not honor that. She also informed me I would have to pay for Bold's basic design package in order for their staff to place centerpieces on the reception tables. The cost of the basic design package - $1,500. (I had a very small wedding and needed centerpieces placed on 4 tables). For 2 weeks before the wedding I went back and forth with Autumn just trying to find out how to connect my laptop to their sound system - we were told multiple times that we could play music through their system, we just had to plug into it. All I needed to know was how to do that. She told me several times she would have to speak with her "internal team" to find out, then told me I would need to come to the venue to look at it myself. I had to go to the venue 3 days before my wedding to see it just was a standard audio jack. Even our day-of coordinator, who was copied on all of these emails, commented on how unusual it was to not get answers from venue staff. We had an open bar at the reception (we prepaid a flat rate per guest and were billed for overages after the wedding) but the bartender tried to charge our guests for drinks! When my parents told him it was an open bar he argued with them! We had a buffet-style dinner but ordered plated meals for the vegetarians, which were not brought out. My husband had to go to the kitchen and ask for those to be brought out. When researching venues I only found positive reviews for Bold. I can only wonder if our negative experience was because we had such a small wedding that Bold didn't think we were spending enough money with them to get the same type of service as couples who have large, expensive weddings. read more

Right away after looking at many venue options for my second daughter's weddings I stumbled upon Molly Irwin with Bold American and the King Plow venue. The conversation was easy, no pressure and Molly was such a joy; she listened and shared. Compared to many others the venue just felt right and our main point of contact Molly clearly won us over and we wanted her on our wedding planning team. From the beginning to the end the professionalism and patience was consistent - my daughter's vision became a reality and Molly and her team was an instrumental part of that - THANK YOU! Our wedding was about 200 guest and we received so many positive comments on the food, staff and the venue. Don't hesitate - you owe it to yourself to go take a look. I attended a wedding here recently and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The wedding planner did a great job decorating the space and the food was great. However, as great as everything was, ONE thing was terrible - the manager of the bar that was serving the guests. She was roughly 40 years old, black, and totally rude to the guests. My friend (the groom) paid for an open bar until 10:30 and not only did they institute a one drink per person policy at her insistence, they closed the bar early for no apparent reason. I have never heard of a one-drink-per-person policy when going to the bar, and it makes it very difficult to grab a drink for friends who are eating/dancing. Totally ridiculous. She also told a few guests that if she saw them pouring the end of a glass of wine into another she would not be able to serve them. She said this to grown adult women, not even joking. When we asked why the bar was closing early, all she said was "Thank you for coming, now please leave the bar area" in a very rude tone. She said this to me, my friends, family of the bridge and groom, as well as older guests. When we told her that the bar was supposed to serve until 1030, we were told to walk away or the manager would get security. It was completely rude to the guests of the wedding, especially after the bride and groom paid an arm and a leg to have everyone. It didn't matter who you were, she simply would not allow her bar staff to serve anyone. It was crazy, and had it been my wedding I would have been EXTREMELY upset. If you book a wedding here, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you check to see who will be providing your food/beverage service. The manager running the bar was the worst, completely rude, and angered a lot of people at the wedding for basically no reason. Her bar staff were completely embarrassed by her attitude towards the guests, and it was totally uncalled for. read more

Nice facility. An old plow farm equipment factory turned into an event/banquet center. I love learning about Atlanta history and spent some time in the small hallway looking over pictures, paintings, letters, and other artifacts about the old King Plow Company. Great spot for mixed-use events/parties/etc... There are all types of things going on at this place. A ballroom was noticed with people practicing the waltz, while I was standing in line to enter the neighboring Yelp party location. Fully enjoyed the HBO Girl's Premiere Party! Hope to find more events held at this location. If you get here late though, parking seems to come at a premium! read more

I could find very little to like about king plow from the point of paying to get in. The show we were seeing was Borgore. When we walked inside the entrance hall my first impressions was of it looking like a pretty cool venue, granted there were 1000 people crammed into the entrance hall but I don't see how that could have been avoided. I get up to pay and show the guy at the door my ID and I heard him say what seemed to be "No!" and i stood there trying to figure out why and asked "no? what?" and then he got aggravated and yelled "Go!" I understand that there are a lot of people, but i don't like paying to go places for the people working there to treat their patrons like that. This seemed to be a common theme, but i will get to that a little later. We get inside, and it is packed. Sold out show, it was expected and i am not really complaining about that part of it. My biggest complaint was the sound, the walls are made of concrete or brick and the genre of music being played did not go well with that. There was so much reverb that I went in for probably 10 minutes total before going outside because it was making my head hurt. A couple more times of being yelled at by the security without doing anything to warrant it. I ended up getting sick and wanting to leave, I had given a ride to a friend of mine and their stuff was in my car. I tried to explain to security that all i wanted to do was go to my car, grab it, hand it to a friend and be on my way, but they wouldn't even let me speak. On the way out, leaving with friends that didn't want to leave yet due to their stuff in my car they yelled "No reentry, you won't be able to come back" and i told them "Don't worry, I don't plan to... Ever" If there was a show for someone I really wanted to see there, even if it was a free show, I wouldn't go simply because this is now my least favorite venue in Atlanta... Why go to a music event that you pay to be at if you are hastled and treated badly by the people working there? Even if the people working the event hadn't been the way they were, the room the event in isn't good for any kind of music strongly affected by reverb, and most electronic music is. Overall, people working there sucked, sound quality made it litterally painful to listen to the music i payed to be there to listen to. I was given no reason to ever want to go back. read more

My girlfriend had her wedding reception at Studio 887 and I thought it was a perfect venue for a small wedding (she had around 85 guest). The only drawback was that the size is not very conducive to buffet style serving. The setting was very intimate with an upstairs area used for additional dining. I really loved the look of the place and it was a great location for an in-town wedding. read more

The parking situation at King Plow Arts Center has significant problems. There's a machine inside the doors of the venue itself that supposedly validates parking for $5.00, but I've had the resulting tickets A) not recognized upon attempted exit from the garage or B) not recognized as having been paid, with another $5.00 payment apparently expected. After Actor's Express events, there often has to be a person stationed at the exit of the parking garage to facilitate the exit of people who have paid in advance, yet who are not allowed to exit by the machinery. This is an unacceptable situation, engendering huge amounts of ill will for the venue. read more
