As a private dentist I was bracing myself to be pushed into all kinds of treatments that I didnt really need, but I was happy to hear that my teeth were pretty much healthy, the only work he sugested was purly cosmetic, and it was entirely up to me what I chose to do. He also explained that they offer a payment plan, so if I decided to have any work done I wouldn't be lumped with a huge payment - bonus Note for the ladies: He is also quite good looking so you don't mind staring up his nostrils while he's examining your teeth! The only negative I would like to point out is that the surgery was in the middle of a refurbishment as they had recently moved premises, and the reception wasn't very appealing - I'm sure its looking tip top now though!

I hadn't been to a dentist for around 10 years due to me being a very nervous patient, but one of my wisdom teeth started to come through and I was in absolute agony. I made an appointment and went to see Dr Knight. He was brilliant. At my first appointment, I was so nervous I was shaking and couldn't even sit in the chair!!! He calmed me down, by explaining exactly what he was going to do before he did it and talking to me throughout the examination so I knew exactly what was happening at all times. Lance is a very patient person and is happy to talk through any fears or concerns you may have at any stage. He is always polite and never once have I felt that he has been impatient with me. I have had dentists in the past who have said they "need to get on with it as they do have other patients!" Lance would never say anything like that and just knowing that makes me less nervous as I know that Lance will allow me all the time I need without ever making me feel as though I am an inconvenience. Thanks to Lance and the team, I have far more confidence when visting the dentist and have recommended Dr Knight to several friends and family members. All of whom are very happy with the service and treatment they receive. Thanks Ultimate Smile Spa - you really do make me smile!

I missed two appointments within two months (from work appointments), I stressed at the time of making them, I needed the latest appointments because I would be coming from work and I finish at 4.30pm. Previous appointment I've been able to book a 5.00pm slot, but for some reason they weren't available anymore. Being told I'm being struck off the patients list for missing two appointments, but when on the phone they are advertising spaces for NHS patients. Also explaining, I still visit the surgery to see the hygienist twice a year on a dental plan, but I would not be able to see the dentist. But if I wanted to register as a private patient, I'm more than welcome. Yeah, I wonder why? ££££££££££ They struck me off the list a couple of year previously for missing appointments, I had to remind the manager we were in lockdown during a world wide pandemic, we weren't allowed to leave our house unless it was essential. I didn't miss the appointments intentionally, the whole world was in lockdown. They later placed me back on the NHS list with a new dentist who just started at the practice. Being messed around by this dental surgery, having to deal with their unprofessional reception staff, having to accept appointments can be cancelled whenever it suits the dentist, but no flexibility when you're struggling to make appointments from work commitments. I can not and will not recommend this dental practice to anyone, to my friends, family or colleagues. If you have to pay to go private, I would certainly recommend other dental surgeries who atleast attempt to cater to their patients needs. Staying open later, offering later and weekend appointments. If I go private, I will not be paying for this level of mediocre customer service.

mydentist is a large chain of dentists (Europe's largest dental care provider with over 600…read morelocations - yet still not big enough to have a Wikipedia page) which offers NHS and private treatments, this location is one of the few dentists which is located in Manchester city centre, it is located in Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter. After previous issues with Ocean Dental and Bupa elsewhere in the city, I decided to call at mydentist, looking to sort out a mild dental emergency, combining with my regular checkup which was definitely overdue. The staff here all seem really friendly, and I was able to get an appointment in a matter of days, even in the busy Christmas period, I was actually offered an appointment the day after phoning in to look at getting an appointment, or on Christmas Eve which was a few days later, I accepted the latter but this was under the condition they'd be unable to perform any treatments on the day I signed up, which was down to them closing early for Christmas and the fact I turned up a few minutes late - they didn't have a problem with my lateness and were accommodating in the sense they simply swapped my appointment around with the person who was due to go in and see the dentist after me. It would still have been better if they'd have booked me in at a time they'd be able to do all treatments, rather than force me to wait another 3-4 week to get the results from my x-ray and the treatments required. The dental room was quite large and spacious, the dentist seemed to identify the two issues I was struggling with, and explained them to me in layman's terms, I didn't see this as more of a checkup I expected, but similar to a GP's appointment for my teeth, simply to clarify and check the issues I was having, rather than having a more in-depth look into my mouth. He did seem to take my issues seriously in arranging an x-ray and further treatment I'd have in a couple of weeks. One thing which lacks here compared to other dentists such as Ocean Dental, where I previously visited just a short walk away is technology, at Ocean Dental they were able to conduct my x-ray with ease and show the results on screen straight away, however here they originally struggled, before taking me into another room where I'd be put inside a machine which would rotate around my mouth. The whole process of getting the x-ray done took much longer than it did at Ocean Dental which was a shame, and I didn't see the results or get a comment on a result which also was a letdown. mydentist also as I see from their online platform makes it so much easier to arrange appointments yourself at a wide range of their dentists, meaning if you're away or need to see someone urgently you can book an appointment online, although for emergency NHS appointments they do ask you to phone up, as currently when I go to book an appointment online it only allows me to book it in for June, which would be my recommended 6 months check-up/examination window. Overall, mydentist is a rather cool dentist with some great features such as the online platform, and the great staff at this branch here at Stevenson Square, a branch which in most aspects is quite modern from the building to waiting room, although it has its' flaws such as treatments, x-rays and the slightly bare waiting room, where you have to enter, book in with reception and then have to wait on the floor above where I noticed there were no staff (at least one staff member should be upstairs) - but still mydentist does deserve a three-star rating as it is one of the better dentists in Manchester city centre, certainly beating Bupa by a mile, which I found to be a ridiculous, old-fashioned mess. UPDATE: After a recent experience here, I feel the need to downgrade mydentist to a single one-star rating, my second experience here was the opposite of what I expected from the good standards shown on my first visit. After going into the waiting room through the creaking lift (not a very pleasant experience), I waited.... and waited.... with no staff around to ask about the wait, I had to go down and speak to the staff (I don't know why the waiting area is on the upper floor as it makes no sense!), I was told about a delay I was not made aware of on check-in, and later found out there was a delay to the delay upon going down again. Poor standards of organisation and waiting times means I'm now looking for my fourth dentist in under a year (also having bad experiences with Ocean Dental and Bupa in the city centre), considering this second visit also is one which could have been done in the first visit and the fact I was never provided with my x-ray results or any further communication and the fact the x-ray equiptment was old and outdated in the first place, I sadly feel mydentist at Stevenson Square now deserves a single one-star rating.

Only had one appointment, which was supposed to be an emergency appointment (which incurred a…read moresurcharge). I can't offer a comprehensive review of everything this clinic does, but last time I checked an emergency appointment costs extra because it involves actual work - fixing the cavity that I reported having issues with. I was met with a 20-minute delay to be seen by the doctor, followed by a rushed "initial consultation" that took less than 10min. Then I had to wait for the treatment plan for another 15min, approximately. I left with the exact same problem I came in with, but wasted a lot of time and the cost of the emergency treatment which turned out to be a consultation. The treatment plan includes "cleaning" and "crowns" that I have NOT requested, are NOT needed and I have NOT given my consent for. Everything was rushed and I feel that my time and money were wasted. As a result of that, plus the fact that they took over a week to answer one of my questions that I forgot to ask during the appointment, I believe I have been treated subpar by this clinic. Since then I had my issues fixed within a 48-hour period at a top dental clinic from central Manchester. Similar prices, but they value their patient's time and show the respect you'd expect. Don't get me wrong, everyone at Dental at MediaCityUK will talk very respectfully to all patients. My concern is that their *actions* and *decisions* are what proved to be extremely disrespectful. Everyone can find excuses for what they've done, but I will not tolerate being treated like that in a *private* clinic. If I pay for your service, you are going to put your best effort to prove you are worth the money, not delay me, rush me, ignore me for a week and then come up with excuses. I highly recommend everyone look not just at the surface (how they talk) but their actions: what they constantly do. Ask yourself this: If you were to get treated here, would you accept them delaying you and rushing you? Would you be okay with being sent to do a "cleaning" when it's clearly not necessary (for them it's just a mean to get paid extra)? Same goes for extras, crowns, etc. --- It's like buying every single item recommended by Amazon (through their suggestions based on previous purchases) just because they are very persuasive (which you'd expect from someone who is in the business of making money - not helping people necessarily). Also, they will reply to this review saying I didn't show up to the last appointment - which is correct. I decided to give them a bit of their own medicine. See how 40min-50min of your time being wasted feels like. And if you presume that my time is not as valuable as the doctor's - you're terribly mistaken. Not going to bring my accounting books to prove it, but rest assured it is so.

Everything which was done by this clinic was a mess. I had to go to this clinic every month to get it fixed. Now part of their extension on my front tooth has fallen of 2 days before my wedding. I emailed them - they only refunded me partially and moreover now - they do not want to fix whatever they did. I now have to get into different dental practise to fix the mess (Obvioulsy, no other dental clinic would be fixing their issues - so I have to re do whole thing). Also, their extensions changed colour - after only 2 months - they became yellow, meaning they use cheapest materials possible! Really hope this clinic closes soon! :)

His advice on maintaining dental health was realistic and achievable, ie. you don't need to quit sugar just reduce how regularly you have sugary foods and drinks; try to floss 3x a week if you can't do it every day. He also didn't try to talk to me while I couldn't speak, which my old dentist always did, so annoying! Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful.
