Dropped off two jackets and two jeans. The jackets in total cost 2500$. I dropped off my $1300 Rudsak jacket which has fur and a belt attached to it. (See pictures attached) I took the jacket with the belt attached as I would never take it off and it also needed to be washed. Today I picked up my jacket and noticed there was no belt attached to it. I let the owner know that my belt was missing. First he couldn't find my receipt and then he started to look f9r the belt and couldnt find it so hr decided to tell me there was no belt and when they received it they didn't get it with a belt. This is not true as I said before I would never take the belt off , it is part of the jacket. I proceeded to nicely tell him that it was part of it and that I didn't bring it with. He kept talking over me and telling me no no no I didn't bring it. I started to get annoyed as I knew I had taken the belt to him and he was not taking responsibility for losing it and kept telling me he would call me if he found it so I kept asking him what are you going to do if you can't find it ? He told me to not make a scene infront of other customers ( i was just asking him to take accountability) so I said I am not making a scene I am asking you what you're going to do. Your customer should know that you don't take responsibility for losing people's stuff. He then said SINCE YOURE GONNA BE LIKE THAT NOW THERE WAS DEFINITELY NO BELT AND WERE DONE HERE. So now we're showing our true colors. He then called my cellphone to tell me he didn't have my belt and I said I wanted a refund as I had just spent 200$ there and part of my jacket was missing and my other jacket still had stains on it. I asked him for 100$ back not even the full thing and he still refused saying he would give me 60$ not even what I paid for my jacket to get "fixed" so after me literally begging for some freaking compassion and understanding he gave me back 85$ and once again repeated WERE DONE HERE after I was trying to thank him and explain to him why I was upset. I have never encountered this kind of behavior in adults. This is child behavior. Take accountability for your actions!!!! You are a business that deals with peoples items daily and cant keep track of them. Get a freaking hold of yourself and pleae take a customer sevice course. Disgusting behaviour. We went here to have a double goose-down duvet cover dry cleaned. The place across the street wanted $60. Using that as a guide, we figured we'd have to go to some place outside of the downtown core to get a modest price. But then we called King West Cleaners. They were cheaper than any place I called (in or out of the downtown core), $34. I highly recommend this place. I went to King West Village Cleaners originally because of Yelp recommendations, and I have to say that I have been continuously disappointed by them. The first items I brought in were some lacoste polo style shirts. One had a stain on it that wouldn't come out. Wayne couldn't get it out, then I took it to another cleaners at the corner of Marlee and Eglinton, and they were able to get the stain out that Wayne could not. I gave Wayne a second chance because I didn't think Yelp could be so far off. I brought some clothes in to dry clean that required special care. When I read the labels and asked some questions about what should be dry cleaned, and what should be laundered he was short with me saying he's a dry cleaner and knows what to do. Stupidly I gave Wayne a third chance and brought in a Hugo Boss shirt, a John Varvatos shirt, and an H&M shirt. He commented that he would take special care of the Boss shirt, but would clean the H&M shirt by regular laundry because it was a cheap shirt, and could be replaced easily. What kind of comment is that? I've purchased some H&M products that have turned out to be very fine quality and this shirt had beautiful fabric and seemed as well made as another fine Italian Shirt in my wardrobe. Wayne's comment was way out of line. Long story short, when I picked up my shirts, all three were burnt. The Boss shirt that was supposed to get special care and I was charged extra for it, was faded. My John Varvatos shirt that was brand new and had only been dry cleaned once before felt rough, and the H&M shirt which had bright purple stripes, had gone dull. I took the shirts back to Wayne. He denied that there was anything wrong with his dry cleaning process. I suggested that perhaps the chemicals hadn't been changed frequently enough. He tried to convince me that there was nothing wrong with the shirts. I used to sell shirts at Harry Rosen's and I know fabrics very well. This guy is stuck up and an A-hole, and I will never go back to him. My advice? Stay away!!!! Also,his prices are high. Yelpers smarten up with your comments and save us all some agony! read more

It should be noted that I now live over 10 miles away from this laundromat. I no longer work nearby, I don't have a car and I rarely travel to that end of town anymore. I'm an East-ender and he is far on the west end. But every two weeks I rent my Zipcar and "fly" across town to meet Wayne. And every two weeks he greets me by name, discusses any issues I have and personally picks out the shirts to be hand finished. And every two weeks I watch in amazement as someone else walks in before or after me and receives a level of service I've never witnessed elsewhere. On my last visit, I watched as a woman bashfully handed Wayne the most destroyed pair of jeans on the planet and explained that they were her "special jeans". She was in front of me and he apologized once to me and then turned his full attention to her. It took close to 5 minutes for her to explain which rips were not to be repaired, how she wanted other things done. This pair of jeans must have been 10 years old and he treated it with extreme care, listened to every point and ensured he understood what to do. Amazing work and customer service. Period. I've been looking for a decent priced and convenient cleaner for awhile. There is one in Liberty Village (Spotless Dry Cleaning) but extremely pricey and they lack a friendly attitude. When I came in the first time to have my Moose Knuckle cleaned it came back in a week and it didn't cost me a fortune unlike other shops that charge you more became of the "brand". I was really impressed with Wayne. He was super friendly. I came back with a few items and a curtain (from Walmart) and he suggested that I wash it at home. His reason was so that I could save money instead of paying for something I could throw in the wash and hang to dry. I had a quote from (SDC) and they wanted to charge me $$$..EEK! Reading the review from Leonard is such a load of bs. Wayne told me that the material on my curtain wasn't the best quality and he is right! Just like (Leonard) his shirt from H&M is NOT high quality (why are you getting offended???) so that's why is can be put in the wash..DUH... And a shirt from H&M is nothing like a Italian made item-not a chance! Obviously Leonard was highly offended so he wrote a bunch of nonsense... It's hard to find reliable, professional, top notch friendly neighbourhood service like this and I'm thrilled to be able to support them. Every garment we bring in is returned in pristine condition, and I consistently look forward to my little chats with Wayne dropping off and picking up clothes. He's also LGBTQ2S+ friendly and while everyone should be in 2019 a lot of places aren't and I really appreciate how it isn't an issue at all. I know it's tough to get excited about dry-cleaning but........... Finding a good cleaner is like a good hair stylist. Once you find a good one, its tough to find another should you have to. Wayne (who I believe is the owner) always greets me with a smile and a big "Aaron, how are you". This guy knows genuine customer service. The kind that only comes from pride in your work, not salesmanship. I've never had anything lost or not returned on time. He also has a great on-site seamstress. These guys always have time for a conversation or to catch your cleaning as you do a drive by cause you got going late that morning and you need to get a starbucks before that 8:30 meeting. If I could give 0, or negative stars I would. Poor, poor, poor, poor, POOR! I have been going to King West Village Cleaners for over the past year. Recently I brought some shirts in to clean, and received them back with a button broken. No big deal right? It happens. They offered to sew on the replacement button but had to come back a second time to pick it up. Why could this not be done on spot? Again, no hard feelings. However, after review of the cleaning the did, I noticed my shirt cuffs were all damaged (see images attached). When I let them know about it, I heard every excuse imaginable - it's the fabric, where I don't see any damage, where did you get the shirt , etc. I paid to get my shirts cleaned and you damaged my shirts! King West Village Cleaners is the only cleaner I have been using so it wasn't anyone else. Obviously being upset as these 3 shirts were $300-$350 retail each, Wayne, the owner originally offered to buy a shirt but only one and only if I never complained about something like this again. I told him of course if it happens again, I'm going to bring it up! Otherwise, rather than take that risk, I would just find a new cleaner. I'm not paying to get my shirts destroyed and 3 of them at that - that's over $1000 burned! I came back in today after going to several other dry cleaners in the area - all who agreed that this was terrible and does not just happen to fabric. Two of the shirts were brand new, one worn just once (the purple one shown). I have been making custom suit and shirts for the past decade, and work with the finest mills in the world, fabrics don't just magically become worn especially from top suppliers at that. It's the cleaning process, or the chemical being used. Wayne continued to harass me for my suppliers contact info, the launders that I communicated with, and when I asked him to just buy the one shirt back like he said he would and I would let bygones be bygones, of course he pathetically went back on his word and wouldn't. Becoming frustrated with his lack of care or concern and with every reason to be, he told me to leave. I said I wouldn't until this was resolved to which him, and son/colleague physically assaulted me by putting hands on me and pushing me out the door. I have since called the police and am waiting for them to arrive. I've owned a business for 10 years and in no way is this acceptable behaviour for a business to treat the customer. Knowing a customer's name is not an excuse to ever lay your hands on them!! I was not the one at fault, was called a liar, and certainly am not why is why I told them I would leave a negative review and take to social media and that is exactly what I am doing now. There are many other dry cleaners on King West, and in Toronto. AVOID KING WEST VILLAGE CLEANERS AT ALL COST!!! AND, IF YOU ARE A CURRENT CLIENT, STOP SUPPORTING THIS BUSINESS, IT"S HOW THEY KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!! DO YOU REALLY WANT TO WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO YOU? I have been going to Wayne for years now. He is SUPER SMART. KNOWS HOW to fix the problem if it can be fixed. IF Wayne says the problem cannot be resolved, then HE KNOWS. I'm shocked to see there are bad reviews on here. I gave Wayne a very expensive silk dress and it came back in amazing condition. Not to mention he got it done in 24 hours, and was willing to deliver it to me! I was a patron to this cleaner twice after seeing all these glowing reviews. After receiving quality cleaning and fine customer service upon my initial visit I gave them repeat business. Unfortunately I can now only refer to King West Village Cleaners as a place to gamble. Due to extreme neglect or pure ignorance they washed my designer jacket (previously in great condition) in a way that effectively ruined it. The colours were washed out leaving a tie-dye like pattern and the material was irrecoverably wrinkled. When I returned to address the issue they offered less than half of the compensation that I (and friends who I consulted) felt was appropriate. To add insult to injury they accused me of being a criminal, arguing unfoundedly that I have likely tried swindling out dry cleaners all over the city. On the contrary the argument was not worth my time. I received only $15 and my destroyed jacket back. This was by far the worst and most insulting retail customer experience that I have ever had. read more

I've been taking our dry cleaning to King West Village Cleaners for years. As many others have noted, Wayne stands out at this cleaners (but the others know the regulars and are also very nice). Wayne has a knack for remembering names and is very friendly. This alone isn't what sets him or the store apart from other cleaners (or other businesses for that matter). It's his integrity, honesty, respect for the customers and effortless ability to make sure everyone is very satisfied. He consistently goes above and beyond expectations. As for the products, I've used the dry cleaning for a variety of clothing and assorted alteration services (pants, shirts, suits and coats). I've never had any problems - they're very consistent. There were several times I may have wanted an alteration tweaked after it was done (my fault) and Wayne made it right at no extra charge. The staff know what they're doing and I would trust them with the cheapest to most expensive of my clothing. I find the prices reasonable and my clothes are always ready as soon or sooner than I need them. I haven't used a rush service but have been in the store when others have asked for items back sooner than the normal turn around time and they seem to always accommodate. I used to provide a variety of Alternative Dispute Resolution services and Legally Binding Arbitration in the U.S. and actually had some cases that involved complaints regarding dry cleaners and expensive (and not so expensive) items consumers alleged were damaged by a drycleaner. In a few cases, the item would be sent to the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute for analysis to determine if damage (stain, etc) was caused by the dry cleaning process or by the customer. What I learned was that some stains just aren't removable and others are there but not seen (caused by hair spray or other products) and can be brought out by the dry cleaning process. (Please note that I'm certainly not an expert and it's been 10 years since I had this job and things may have changed.) I mention this because I like to think I'm an educated consumer and I have firm expectations that (I think) are reasonable. I used to live in the area but moved to the east end a couple years ago and I still go to King West Village Cleaners because they do a great job with my clothes, Wayne provides outstanding service and I never worry because I'm confident that if I ever had a problem - they'd go above and beyond to resolve it. In any case, I am by no means a "regular" when it comes to dry cleaning; I probably go to King West Village Cleaners three times/year. Went here once to get my shirts laundered. Everything came back smelling like french fries. Plus whatever chemicals they use are not great if you have sensitive skin. My shirts are so itchy. Furthermore, the proprietor made a big scene about a "spot" on the crotch of my pants. I think he was implying that it was something, well... personal.
