Today was my 2nd time here. I believe in second chances, so I tried again after a no so great…read moreexperience. The first experience was a year ago. I had finished my chemo and my hair was finally long enough for a cut/trim. I explained that I didn't want a lot off, just wanted to add some layers, shape it up and trim the ends. Now, I found it weird that I was never offered to have my hair washed but guessed this was the norm now? Anyway, she proceeded to spritz my hair, it was a little wet but about half way through she was just cutting dry hair. We had a long discussion on how I wear my hair. I told her more than several times that I HATE my hair curly, and stated my reasons. She kept saying I have great curls and should try wearing it curly. I again, said NO, I wear it straight. We discussed this for a good amount of time as she tried to convince me. A few minutes later she finished cutting it (it was bone dry) and proceeded to spritz it again. Here I'm thinking she's about to blow dry it. Nope, she started scrunching my hair into curls!! Seriously? Did I not just have a 10 minute conversation on how much I hate curly hair? She did what SHE wanted, not what I wanted. Left there with my wet hair scrunched into curls that I specifically said I didn't want. Went home and blow dried it myself and the cut was just ok but not what I asked for. I trimmed it myself to get it right. So today I went in to give it another try. The stylist started sectioning my hair and I asked if she had planned to cut it dry? She asked if I preferred to have it wet and I said yes. No problem, she wet it at the sink and proceeded to cut it. She asked if I wanted a lot of layers or just a few. I said "lots" and they should start around the top of my ears and the sides should taper around my face. She got done, asked if I wanted it blow dried for $35 and I said no since I live 2 minutes away and I'll do it myself. I said that the only thing about not blow drying is that you can't see if it's cut right and she said to come back if it's not. Well, I'm not going back, and no it's not cut right. There is ONE layer and it is on the side, the back is one length, not a layer in sight. The only layer (remember I said start at the top of the ears) starts a few inches below my ears, and there is no tapering on the sides. It looks no different than when I walked in, except it's an inch or two shorter. I should have known when the girl said when she got out of school she was afraid of cutting layers. She should probably not tell someone that right before cutting their hair. I tried, twice, there won't be a third. I don't like giving negative reviews but this should be a teaching moment on what to do and not to do.

She had asked how much the particular style would be and they gave her a starting price depending on length. Her rather large braids barely went past her chest and they charged her $160. They also informed her that they provided the hair. This would lead customers to think that the hair is already included in the price. They charged her $32 for jumbo braiding hair that usually costs $2-$3 a pack. If the hair is not included in the price it would be nice to let potential customers know. On top of that, the ends of the braids looked terrible! She sat up for hours braiding the puffy blunt ends herself then dipping them in boiling water at home. If one is charged $192 plus tip for a style, they shouldn't have to finish the job themselves at home. I would not recommend going back for braids. As for the other services, I'm not sure and don't plan on finding out

I was contacted fast by this location and we set up a meeting and etc. I informed him that I am hard of hearing. He ensured me that all his clients are treated the same and I was in good hands with him, I believe he's the owner. I wanted the girl who was getting a lot of clients but I'll have to wait 2 months for her so I went with him. When I got there it looked beautiful. All these people getting gorgeous dreads and it was black owned, which I love. He was nice at first and asked what I want. But that did not last. Let make this short. He burned me with hot water twice, was jerking my hair and I told him like 2 times it hurted. The dryer was so hot I told him like twice it burning me. People kept looking at me while he was doing my hair as if they was talking about me ( he know I'm hard of hearing) which wasn't cool. I was in there for 4 hours and my head hurted so bad. My babysitter was like what took so long. I basically wasted like 200 dollars . I hate going to the salons cause something always go wrong. But this was the worst experience I ever had and it really traumatized me that I will NEVER EVER GO TO A SALON AGAIN. I am writing this because I don't want anyone to go through what I went through. If you are different than others don't go here. I started my dreads on my own . The one he did looked like shit . He clearly didn't know what to do with my natural hair type . He even kept asking me if I had a perm. My hair worked better with gel. I wax. I have soft curls. My dreads look really nice due to ME. I did like 3 attempts before I got the look that I wanted which is free. If you want to start dreads. Please take my advise. Do it yourself.
