The town of Masham is a quick 20-minute walk with plenty of pubs and a couple of breweries, there are miles of walking/running trails, you can watch the herds of deer from your windows, and the rolling hills dotted with sheep and horses is oh so peaceful. We put Swinton Park on our "let's go back there someday" list - a very peaceful and relaxing get away.

Really though I couldn't fault anything about the experience, apart from the classic struggle to get the bill at the end - not that we were keen to leave such a cosy environment! I booked our accommodation online. Its location (ten minutes walk from the train station) is perfect, right on the Crescent Terrace on the West Cliff. Our room was the Classic Bay, spacious, light and comfortable with a great view of the North Sea. The owners, the Gallaghers, were gracious hosts, friendly and very accommodating of our requests and our needs (we left very early on our last morning, prior to breakfast, but they provided a very satisfying boxed meal. Breakfasts are a special treat, with a variety of choices, tasty food properly cooked and politely served by the attentive waitstaff. I should also mention that the price is quite competitive, also. For a three-night stay, they offer a discount of 5%, so ours was 95 pounds per night ($147). All in all, a real treat!!
