I've been going to King's Landing for about a year now. My experience has always been enjoyable, except for the times I've interacted with a certain worker. I'm not sure what his name is, all I know is he has long hair, wears a beanie, has long hair, and is the announcer for the One Piece tournaments held at King's Landing. Every experience I've had with this individual has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had in customer service. I've never interacted with someone so rude, unhelpful, and seemingly bothered to be working, in all my life. King's Landing is an absolutely wonderful place. The retail staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable on a wide array of topics ranging from Magic the Gathering and other card games to board games and video games. The only issue is the space they share with Butter My Biscuit. Nerds started out as the focus but have been moved to the back to keep them out of view. Definitely not coming back if nothing changes. Better game stores around town that aren't being hurt by a overpriced restaurant. read more

This is an interesting space. I like it. It's a diner with a selection of coffee and alcohol drinks with a small selection of games up front. It's good for either a quick brunch or an evening gathering of board games or RPGs. I didn't sample the food sadly, I didn't really expect there to be food from looking around for places! From the looks of it it's classic diner fare and archetypical booth style seating. The size of the space is pretty cozy even though the pre-lunch crowds were kind of thin. The gaming portion of the store is affiliated with the comic shop down the street and has a small but representative selection of new and used gaming books. The ubiquitous new Dungeons and Dragons books are, of course, right there for you. Interestingly they had a small collection of essays and mini games by underrepresented groups in gaming which is great to see at in person. There are some older games and a small selection of older, used books and supplements to complement the newer print runs. Board game selection is pretty standard; the number of expansions for newer games definitely stood out so they are supporting what people are buying. This is a neat little space that is clean and welcoming, definitely worth a visit for a game or a meal! read more

Good selection of games, cafe is decent. Food options are very limited outside of official butter my biscuit hours which stinks when your friends want to play games late on weekday evenings. Demo Games are always available in their closet, might be a few missing pieces but you can usually play a game or two to help decide if you want to actually buy it! Good lattes and seasonal/house specialties usually available! My favorite is the princess zelda latte. Tabletop and Board game options in the front of the store and video, arcade, trading card games available in the back. Small selection of dice & miniatures for TTRPG also available (preprinted and ready to paint minis). read more

We really wanted to like this place. But we arrived with 8 people and could only seat 6 (understandable, because of covid) and as we were trying to figure out how to split up our group a worker yelled, very rudely, from across the restaurant for us to get the dog outside. Our friend's service dog. We didn't feel like giving them business after that, so we left. We didn't try any food so can't really comment on that. They have a closet full of demo games so you can try out different games to find something more your style. The restaurant inside is excellent too. They are only open certain days for now but they are worth checking out for the food and drinks. read more

My friends and I came here for a laid back evening on a Saturday night. The staff joked with us and made us out-of-townies feel welcome. We snacked on the potato skins and the chips and queso. Both were great! I was surprised at how well the food tasted considering the business. The booths in the front are tight, especially for us well endowed ladies. They also close at 9pm. Staying open until 11pm might be better on the weekend. But those were the only flaws. If you forgot to bring a game to play with your friends, they have plenty for sale. We'll probably venture in again the next time we're in town. read more

Service is great, food is pretty good, store is really cool if that's what you're in to (and I definitely am). The biscuits were really well made, nice and crisp exterior, nice crumb on the interior. Flavors were good. I like that you have a cupboard of games you can play at the table. There are a lot of classic consoles with a variety of games to try, a few arcade games as well as pinball machines (machines are a little old and may not all be functioning at any given time, but still very cool). We had originally planned to eat at the infamous silo restaurant while on a girls trip in Waco, but there was a 3 hour wait for breakfast, lol. We randomly selected this spot at the last minute, and couldn't have been happier. We were hesitant to eat there bc it was in a shopping center, but once we got inside and learned what it was all about we were super excited. It's essentially a really good breakfast spot that duals as a toy store and an arcade.... and you can order alcohol. We totally grabbed a booth in the front toy store area, ordered mimosas and bloody marys while getting into a super intense, fun game of scrabble. Congrats to Tammie for winning . I absolutely love everything about King's Landing. My husband and I are there at least once a week for the food, games, and overall atmosphere. We've met some of our best friends here, and have recently started a D&D campaign with them. It's undoubtedly one of the best places in Waco to hang out and enjoy time with friends/family. First, the atmosphere is awesome! If you are a nerd (board game, card game, table-top, Harry Potter, or any variety of nerd), welcome to your new nerdom!! When you walk in, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the selection of games, and the medieval decor completes the festive ambience. If you are lucky enough to stop by when Butter My Biscuits is cooking, you'll be in for an even bigger treat! You better come hungry, because if you order the daily special or the "What Brent Had" menu option, you'll have a plate full of deliciousness. The staff is always helpful! When my 9yo daughter was interested in Magic The Gathering cards, one of the employees (big guy with a beard) sat down with us at one of the tables for around half an hour and taught her how to play. Best game place in Waco. Its clean and the decorations are awesome. Brent, Jamie and the gang are spot on with what they wanted to bring to Waco. I love playing some games drinking a beer( wife has wine) and being in a place that feels safe. I know this is weird to say but it smells GOOD also. Not like a parents basement(game closet looking at you). If you just want chill place to play Fluxx or Xwing that doesn't feel weird go here. read more

I'm giving this a two, just because of some of the staff. I have been in here several times and experienced some of this stuff repeatedly. First of all, this store is amazing and the food is delicious. If you need a game, go here and find it. With all of the good though, there is some not so good. I have run into some of the following issues here: -There is one guy that works here (typically has glasses and has holes in his ears from guages) that every time he has helped me he is either too busy talking to his pals to help anyone or comes off as super inconvenienced. Every time I go, he is one of those two things. -Another issue I have, I was there for FNM once, went to get a tea refill, and this curly haired girl was acted like it was an inconvenience for her to refill my tea because the coke machine was cleaned up but the te was still sitting on the counter. I asked asked her if I could have some ice, and she snapped back that they didn't have anymore because the coke machine was cleaned. After I returned to magic, she brought back the days leftover coffee and asked if anyone wanted some, and then she asked a guy if he wanted ice with his. -Speaking of the tea, if you're going to charge for another drink after one refill for tea, at least make sure that the tea is not a day or more old. That's nasty, and there is no need to charge for tea refills. It only cost you a dime to brew a gallon. If it gets better than this, then I'll changing my rating. read more
