Well stocked store. Easy to get help and like all the store inventory. Found what I wanted and it work d great.

This shop moved in October 2017 to Pace, Fl, a smaller community up the road about a 20 minutes drive off Davis Highway. I don't have an address but they will give you driving instructions if you call them at their original number. The new store is much cuter than the former location in that it is a tiny stand-alone type building with a cottage like air to it. They are still planning on building a website for it but sooner would be better than later since it is hurting their business drastically since no one knows where they are! There is somewhat more space than the former location, but still a bit crowded. The reviewer who said she warms up to you once she knows you better is so right. Persevere. Amy has been knitting since childhood and really knows yarn and knitting. There is a very pleasant cafe on the same road so you can kill two birds with one stone to make it worth the extra drive time. Don't remember the name, unfortunately, but is closer to Davis highway than the store and on the opposite side of the street - I think it is Dead Poet's something which is a chain, but doesn't feel like one. I only visit the Pensacola area from time to time, so can'f be more specific. read more

I enjoy this shop. There is so much fiber in stock and the owner always has something on sale too. There is an extensive selection of knitting needles and crochet hooks and a large library of pattern books as well. There are knitting circles on Thursday night and on Saturday as well. There is also a sewing machine shop on site which has threads and other notions as well as doing sewing machine repairs. read more

I have used King's for several years only for sewing machine repair. I do not buy my machines from King as they don't sell my preferred brand. In my experiences with the service part of the store I have gotten what I set out to which is a repaired machine. My big complaint is that the owners are rude an lacking any sense of kindness. If you ask an innocent question they make you feel ridiculed and stupid for even asking as if you are threatening them. The husband is very demeaning to the wife and I have felt like I wanted to choke him at times. He's like a Natzi mean to her. The man who repairs the machines is nice but the owners aren't. Hopefully they will read this review and go seek out some therapy or even sell the business to someone who wants to make customers happy with a smile. If they weren't the only repair shop in town I'd take my business down the road. read more

I can only comment on the yarn/fiber part of this place, so that is what my review will be limited to. It is, unfortunately, the only shop in Pensacola (that I know of) where you can find quality yarns. It can be very overwhelming because although on closer inspection there is some sort of organization, there are also random baskets and towers of various yarns all over, which makes it difficult for anyone with a method to their yarn-loving madness! If you go on a weekday, the experience isn't TOO bad. The owners are not very friendly; I've always felt they are quite condescending. On Saturdays, they host a knitting club. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS! The already cramped space is invaded by a group of pretentious and quite rude people. You will find it impossible to look at three quarters of the yarn selection because this group takes up the entire area. They are neither friendly, nor helpful, and will watch you try to squeeze between their chairs and the yarn without ever saying a word. I recently bought some yarn and once I got it home, I loved it so much I was curious as to whether this place had any other colorways. Since we live on the other side of town (and it was Saturday), I decided to call and ask before making the trip over. I mentioned the brand and type of yarn and asked if they carried any other colorways since the one I found was just in a random basket. The man I spoke with was brusque and put me on hold and ended up connecting me with the lady who runs the yarn side of things. She seemed quite offended that I would dare call and ask such a question. Her response to my query was, "I am not a computer. I just buy what I like and sell it. I don't know everything I have." I did not expect her to have her entire stock memorized. I just didn't think my question was unreasonable. It takes a lot to upset me, but almost every trip I've made to Kings has been stressful and unpleasant. They do carry some nice yarns (Cascade, Berrocco, Noro, Blue Heron, Queensland, etc.) and if you are prepared to meet with little to no friendliness or help, you will find some gorgeous fibers. But seriously....do NOT go on Saturday afternoons. You've been warned. read more

I love this store! It carries all and everything you would need for high end knitting wool's, silk and cottons, as well as wonderful acrylics. I love the knitting circles offered twice a week for a nice time with the ladies. I have had wonderful service and the owners are great and very helpful!! If your going to spend time knitting anything worth something, don't buy junk walmart and joannes yarns. This is the place for the luxury yarn that is local, and the only place I know of in Pensacola to buy UK made yarns which are simply the best when it comes to acrylic yarn. I'm a long time customer and will continue to shop there!!! read more

They had yarn, yeah. The yarn I did see though was all pretty old school, and scratchy. I walked around and touched a lot of stuff, but the store owner kind of hovered silently behind me and made me feel that I wasn't welcome. I got the feeling that she was working on something (probably repairing a machine, which is fine) and wanted me to leave so she could resume. She could have just let me browse and come find her when I found something, but she trailed me like she thought I was going to steal something. I was so excited to try the store before I moved away. She did have a cat and a dog in there which was pretty cool but I felt so uncomfortable that I left quickly and never came back. I asked her a few questions about if she ever does a knit night, or classes and she just kinda said "sometimes" again making me feel unwelcome. I asked if she carried knit picks interchangable needles (I lost a cord in a vacuuming accident) and she went on a long story about how she asked to sell their stuff years ago but they weren't selling to vendors, then contacted her once they decided to sell to vendors and she told them they'd burned a bridge. Why? It was their policy not to sell to vendors, not a personal vendetta against her! Anyways, it was a strange experience (about 2 months ago) and the only reason I'm writing this is because I hope she sees it and warms up to her customers. Just because I'm in my early twenties doesn't mean I should be blown off at a yarn store- I'm as serious a knitter, crocheter, and customer as anyone else. read more

As of 8/14/11 this is the only store in Pensacola where you can purchase yarn of any quality. (I consider pretty much everything WalMart and JoAnn's sells to be junk.) They have a fair selection and basically everything you'd need in needles or notions. Yarn selection is somewhat large but it is very cramped and bins are stuffed. They honestly need a bigger space. Store is attached to a sewing machine sales and repair shop, smells like machine oil. This isn't the bright, welcoming yarn shop you're used to so be prepared for that. The lady that runs the yarn side is all business but will warm up to you once she's seen you a couple of times. Standard retail prices, maybe even a tad higher than I'm used to and if it was on the shelf in 2006 at $15 and it's still on the shelf today it'll still be marked $15. It's just a strange place. I can't put my finger on it. I'm editing my original review here because my original one was a bit harsher than it needed to be...strange is a good enough description. I'll let you decide for yourself how to fill in the holes. For any negatives you may encounter the bottom line is they have the goods and are local. If you want to enjoy a nice drive along the beautiful Gulf Coact beaches and an afternoon of lunch and shopping in Ft. Walton Beach then a trip to Unwind is a far, far better experience imo. read more

The woman who "greeted" me and I say that very lightly because I was waiting for about 5 minutes in a very empty store before anyone even came out - was extremely rude. I had a small repair and she said that it was not worth her time and and she wasn't going to waste her time. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more
