They hold monthly open leadline classes for children up to five years old. The leadline class is $5 per child and they take turns being led around the ring on the different horses and ponies. My daughter loved it the first time we went, and I was so happy to get the opportunity to expose her to a new experience and see the transformation from completely hysterical and freaked out to really enjoying herself. Of course for about a week afterwards, I had to endure questions like "Will we see Muffin, Rollo, and Peanut tomorrow?" and "Can you buy me Rollo for my backyard?" and "Why can't I have a horsey that is little just like me?" If you have a pre-schooler- this an hour a month of fun. I can't review the other aspects of the stable- since this is all I've done. She provides very specific, clear, detailed instruction. She and the team here teach everything from riding, athleticism, tacking, grooming, safety, equine health to team work, hard work, honesty, kindness. She's like a co-parent: firm, consistent, sets high expectations for behavior and values. And she's flexible, understanding when kids get sick or scared or have schedule conflicts. A true bonus is students can work at the barn, cleaning, grooming, helping with parties and pony rides to earn additional riding time. Fantastic lessons in work ethic, responsibility, the value of hard work. We looked at other stables and found disengaged, jaded instructors and stables where riders have little contact with horses other than hopping on (and don't learn about tacking, grooming, health care). I'm a tough customer with high expectations. I spend time in the barn observing. I drive a group of girls to and fro. I've connected with the team. Beware, our experience here for 12-week group class was awful. Our group organizer, a long time customer, ended up leaving and never returning to the stable due to mistreatment by stable staff and management. The rest of the group of and my family only stayed because we had a good sum sunk into it and we were a large group willing to support one another in order to get through it. But even then I was almost happy to forfeit the money and almost walked away many times due to staff and management behavior. I'm honestly shocked by the 4 & 5 star reviews. I think those people can't spot a fake nice person when they see one, and lucky them, it allowed them to enjoy their experience. They have a hard time controlling their mouths at this stable and don't know how to be genuinely nice. I value free time over jail time so I let some stuff go, but there were times I had to give back as good as I was getting and speak to them the way they thought it was okay to speak to me. Lots of problems too numerous to list and very stressful to recall with this stable. I would stay far away and plan never to return. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

We held a birthday party for our 10 year old daughter at Kings Valley Stables & highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience to share with your child and his/her friends. We had planned on nine children for a horseback riding lesson party but got two last minute additions. Sarah was incredibly accomodating and made it work last minute - everyone had a GREAT time! Our daughter's Daisy troop had an outing to these stables. The girls had a fine time, thanks to our troop leaders, but the stables were so poorly run. There was not an adult present and it appeared as though the owner/manager had left the stables in the hands of their unpaid (teenage) helpers. Some of these helpers were professional about making sure the troop event was a success but others were totally unprofessional, bickering about who does what. I also just thought the facilities were in a sad condition, totally dirty, and felt sorry for the horses. Clarksburg is pretty though. read more

6yr old daughter participated in the week long summer camp. It was plenty of work, dust, and heat but the high school girls were responsible leaders and the owner Sara will spend the time necessary to give your child a meaningful experience. Mounted games were so fun to hear about, swam some days (with councilors) in a pool my daughter could touch in, and trail ride on Friday was wonderful (all horses were led for safety). It was hard to get my daughter to leave at 5 even though she was there all day. What a stand-out summer experience! Only catch is that she wants more horse time now! I did English horseback riding here for about 2 1/2 years, I loved it first: the people were overall very nice, horses were good, and the barn was well maintained. However when I began my third year things began to go down hill. People and horses began leaving, and then the horse I was currently riding left as well. He was replaced with a different horse and I was not happy with him. People became rude and I felt the barn became less maintained. After a while I simply left. I am quite sorry but I didn't feel happy with things and I didn't look forward to it anymore. read more

We were here recently for a group event. The indoor arena is large and well kept. We didn't see other parts of the stable, so I can't really review those. When it came time for riding though, I felt as though there was no regard for scared or timid children. The girls leading the horses didn't bother to calm the fears, they just kind of brushed off the scared ones and moved on. There wasn't a very welcoming feeling here, and while the kids had fun, as a parent, it just felt cold and made me uncomfortable. The event was disorganized and chaotic, lots of yelling back and forth trying to figure out who was doing what. We likely won't be back. read more

Awful from the get-go. I arrive over an hour early and was told to wait, then the lady who told me that acted like she had never talked to me and said she "can't handle all this by herself" and proceeded to bust out crying and walk away from me. No one talked to me the whole time, no one seemed to want to assist me or cared that I was there. Felt very unwelcome. Very unprofessional place. I understand it's a stable, but c'mon.. So after waiting 2 hours total (and driving 1.5 hours to get there, mind you), I ended up walking out and leaving... Ridiculous! Go somewhere else that values paying customers. read more

My 13 yr old and 14 yr old loved the summer camp at KVS with Ms. Sara. They made great friends in an organized but relaxed atmosphere. My 14 yr old (now 16) has continued taking classes throughout the year and it's the only activity she does wholeheartedly and without prompting! My daughter has been riding at King's Valley Stables for four years. In that time, she has gone from a tentative rider who was only comfortable riding one horse to a confident, highly skilled rider who is completely comfortable riding/handling a variety of horses with different skills and temperaments.
