Although whenever I've visited the car park has been very quiet also meaning the shops are quiet too I hate it when it's busy! There are six shops in the retail park, Acorn Pet Centre, Argos Extra, Au Natural, Dreams, Homebase and Peacocks giving a good selection of premises to visit. There is a small amount of cover along the pedestrian walkway to protect visitors from the elements, although it's more of a nudge in the direction of rain cover than actual real cover.

The shops inclued Watt Brothers selling a variety of home goods and clothes, Au Naturale that has a up to 70% off sale on at the moment, it sells a range of cushions, curtains, some furniture such as bar stool, Peacocks that sells clothes for all the family, Dreams that has a range of beds. Homebase which is quite a good size selling diy and plants etc. Halfords selling car parts etc. Argos a catalogue shop and last but not least the acorn pet shops which only had a couple of rabits in and some hamsters, fish and birds. The only thing about this retail park is that it is quite high up so it can be quite cold and the weather can change quickly.

The Oak Mall is really small (hey I'm a poet and I didn't know it!) and has really rubbish versions of high street stores. For example the Oak Malls Topshop has to be the worst branch I have ever been in! It is so tiny and doesn't have any of the most fashion forward, cool lines. There are a few of those really tacky "tween" shops that I love to hate such as Quiz, Unique and Internacionale, if that's you kind of thing, if it is, why?? The Oak Mall does have one of the few Adams stores left in the UK which is maybe worth a visit if you have kids. Also the Bodycare, Semi Chem and Sally Hair and Beauty stores are good for picking up cheap but branded beauty products. I still wouldn't say it's worth the trip out to the mall just for a hand full of sort of ok stores.

Empty shops and poor ones litter the once bustling West Blackhall St. For any Greenockian, this part of town lost its appeal as soon as it become closed over and refered to as "The Mall" - no character remains, sadly. The facility is just steps from the St. Enoch subway station on the Inner Line if you need a reference to the metro stops.

This is an upmarket shopping centre which has more expensive high street shops like Reiss, Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Cos (which I'm still yet to check out!). The centre is certainly decorated to match the crowd it's looking to attract - glitzy, glam and always clean and tidy. I like the size of the centre as well - it's very dinky but still has lots of shops and is easy to navigate. There's also a host of restaurants, bars and cafés but I'll be honest - I've not visited many of them. I ate at Barca probably 4 years ago and also one of the places on the bottom floor but I think that's changed hands. One down side is that if you are dining at a restaurant on the lower level, parents will tend to let their kids run riot in the centre circle which can be a bit of a mood-killer. Princes Square doesn't have a car park due to its location but it is really close to train and subway. If you do really fancy driving, probably St Enoch or Mitchell Street are the closest car parks.

The multi storey car park has a great lighting set up to let you know where a free space is.. If you look at the roof you'll see lots of red and green lights.. If you see a green light underneath it will be a free parking space.. There are lots of different shops all the kids you want even a small version of debenhams.. And the food on offer is great. wagamama, nandos, you sushi, the list goes on.. There are lots of lovely little stalls dotted about where you can buy some original not in the high street type things. There is also a big tesco attached and a newly opened cineworld..

I try to avoid visiting on the weekend as even then it's hard to park. Newly refurbished in 2004, it now holds the same butchers, no Somerfield and...well, not much else. There is a nice new shiny floor and automatic doors though, and a sit in Greggs the Bakers. That's about the highest accolade i can give the place. I still tend to walk through here though, and i have no idea why. Perhaps to see if it has magically turned into somewhere with good shops overnight, or maybe just to remind myself what a pointless place it is. Every single tome i have been, it's literally like a ghost town, with the majority of people here being employees. They did try to make the upstairs section into a market once, but that quickly petered out, and so the cycle of shops opening and swiftly closing three weeks later began, and hasn't stopped since. There is a big Savers in here which is good for toiletries, and an Argos, a Peacocks and Bon Marche, but other than that...it's empty. Give this one a miss...although if it's raining it gives a good bit of shelter between the bus station and the Regent Centre...that's it's only saving grace!

I suppose Clydebank Shopping Centre is filled with cheap shops because it is based in a town with a lot of poverty. Granted, it's not all bad, there is a decent New Look and Dorothy Perkins and a massive 24 hour Asda. However, Bankies looking for quality retailers end up just making the 15 minute drive to either Braehead or Silverburn or jump on the train to the city centre.

Like Gavin, I find it a little odd that there's a complete lack of place to eat apart from a small cafe attached onto Jenners and a restaurant with the worst looking menu I've ever seen.

Besides restaurants and an aquarium (to which I'll give a pass), they have paddleboats and a "retail crescent." They do offer some legitimate services for exploring the park, such as kayak and mountain-bike rentals. On the upside, the park service has a large visitor center here which serves as a gateway to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. What I really wanted to do was hike around the vicinity above the lake, since I didn't have time enough in my day to climb Ben Lomond. I got plenty of pamphlets and then got the hell out to drive up the west side of the lake towards Luss.
