A quick tasty stop on our way back to Kentucky. I love Thai food especially CURRY! However, I've found that Thai curry greatly varies from one Thai place to another and I have very specific desires in the type of curry I like. We ordered the Massaman and Penang chicken curry as well as pork fried rice. There was no request for level of spice and both were very favorable but I would could call them both level 2 spicy at best. They were also more a consistency of soup instead if the creamy rich texture I really love in curry. I was insanely disappointed but, I won't order curry from here again. The fried rice was lovely. Nice portion, rice has a very good moisture level and similar to the curry the flavors were very good, just not spicy. Pricing is fair to high. Portions were adequate and my price was $45 for my to go of three entrees. Not a bad stop. The dine in area is pretty typical for its location an looked clean. read more

The food was very delicious. I decided on getting a spice level of 2, which was a good choice, as it was the ideal balance of heat without overwhelming the dish. To my delight, I was surprised with what appeared to be coconut ice cream for my birthday- a very kind gift that added a thoughtful touch to the experience. It was absolutely delightful. The interior, though it is small, is very beautiful and simplistic. The green tones are aesthetically pleasing, and so are the posters. I also think the addition of a fish tank is cool. Kinnaree is one of my absolute favorites on a rainy day. The red curry with chicken is my absolute favorite. So flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. We're passing through Joplin Missouri on our way back home to Tulsa and we stopped at Kinnaree Thai cuisine for lunch. It was a very clean restaurant with a somewhat plain interior. The service and food was extremely good. We started with an order of spring rolls. Five spring rolls with a deliciously flaky wrapper and veggies inside served with a sweet-and-sour sauce. For my entrée, I chose Massaman curry with chicken, which was excellent. The curry had a very mild heat. My wife had chicken Thai basil. Both were served with a side of white rice. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She accommodated all our requests and brought out travel containers so that we could take home what we couldn't finish. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and make a point to stop here again in the future. read more

I am so upset right now... I was craving, Pad Thai, and my usual place was closed today, so based on the reviews I decided to get this place a try... Y'all this is NOT, Pad Thai! This was wet like soup (to the point if ALL the liquid spilling out and into the bag), flavorless despite the fact that I asked for a little bit of spice, and was capital WAY overpriced. I'd go in and give it back to get my money back but I don't have any time to wait to get to my next appointment. We saw some good Yelp reviews so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was located on one of the Main Street in Joplin, so finding it was not hard at all. You pulled the car right in front of the restaurant, they have plenty of parking spots. It was around 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and we only saw one table occupied. The owner came to ask us what we wanted WITHOUT A MASK ON! Normally we wouldn't have left immediately without consideration. But since we had a tight schedule to keep so we just ordered a couple of dishes. We tried the Pad See Ewe with spicy 2/5, but it came out 4/5. The flat noodles was quite wet, a few pieces of chicken, they used store bought peanuts. It's just blend. We got a lunch portion of Massamun Curry, it came with soup and white rice. A big bowl of watered down curry soup with a few pieces of chicken and a few pieces of potatoes. Again, it's WAY TOO SPICY for a 2/5. I like spicy food but these were horrible and cheap. I saw those chill pepper from pizza all over. It's not Thai spices at all. The soup was the worst, I had half a tea spoon and got a full mouth of salty taste. My wife's soup as well. Honest truth - the best part of it was the glass of ice water. We will never go back there again even if they comp us. I hate giving bad reviews but part of being a Yelper is to stay true to what I experienced. read more

How have we missed this place, it had been closed but recently reopened. We have several​ great Thai restaurants​ in Jolin but decided to try this one we noticed when driving down the street this weekend. Boy were we glad! ​First​t off they had items on their menu than we have​ come to love in larger cities that no one in this area prepares. For exam​ple, their hot and sour coconut milk soup and it was wonderful! We ordered a variety of things and all three of us were pleased. The only thing that was a mistake for us was my son who likes hot foods asked for his order to be a 3 out of 5. Most places a 3 is a heat level he can do. The 3 here left him completely unable to eat, turned bright red and he could only take a few bites and decided he couldn't​ eat it. While guzzling water we called over our waitress and told her their 3 was like other places 5. She quickly replaced his dish with a lower heat level without complaint and joked that she couldn't​ eat 3 either and its her family's restaurant, her father is the cook. The interior is plain, more like a take-out with a few tables so don't​ expect anything fancy. But the quality and service were great. This place will go on our frequent places to eat list for sure. read more

I'm in town with my boss for a quick business trip. We were looking for a place to grab dinner and it seems like Mexican or chains are the options in Joplin. We decided to try and go a different route and went with Thai. There is another Thai restaurant in town that Yelp rated high but it's closed on Tuesdays so we went with the next best option (it didn't hurt that it was close to our hotel). My boss ordered the pot stickers app. I went with the Duck Curry and he got Red Curry with chicken. The server asked us how spicy we like it and we both said a 3 out of 5. The pot stickers came out first. They weren't anything special but they got the job done. There were quite a few; probably 8-10. On to the curry. I'll start by saying the flavor was very good. The duck was cooked well. There were a good amount of veggies. The white rice was steamed well...now don't let the next few sentences make you think the meal was bad. OMG it was spicy. I like some heat but wow. My boss said the same thing. I don't even want to know what a 5 out of 5 would of been. Hell, I wouldn't want to know what a 4 out of 5 was. I finished my plate so it wasn't inedible but it is spicy. It probably took 5-10 minutes after I finished for me to be able to feel my tongue. To reiterate, everything tasted great. Excellent. Clean place. Drove 30 minutes from Carthage and well worth it. Ordered chicken satay and fresh spring rolls (very fresh) for appetizers, both great. Also ordered Showering Rama (could have used more Broccoli) and Pad Kee Mao w/chicken and shrimp (3 stars). I would cut back on the stars next time but still very good. We have one other Thai place to try that is very near to this place but if that isn't like this one then I believe we have found our go to Thai restaurant from now on. read more

I've been to Kinnaree twice and both times were mediocre. Personally, I only liked their curries - red curry and yellow curry. Everything else was honestly bad. My family never wastes food and this time we could not finish it :( . It's not that it tastes awful but its so bland, boring and a weird flavor. After that second experience, I just don't want to go back which is unfortunate because Kinnaree is one of the few Thai places in Joplin. The spice level is customizable - they basically just add more spice powder based on the level you request. They don't actually make the dish based on your spice level unlike most restaurants. read more

We were extremely dissapointed, many of the menu items (rice noodles) were unavailable, the food was probably the worst Thai Restaurant food we have eaten and the prices were quite high considering the quality, location, availability and the ambience. I had the pud kee mao noodles with tofu and the chili paste fried rice. Both were delicious and had good flavor! I got the 3/5 spice level because I like spicy food. It was borderline too spicy. Definitely feel the kick from the Thai chilies. I would probably get 2 /5 next time with the chili powder on the side. I ordered for pick up and they were very kind. It's my birthday and so even when it was snowing, my hubby took me out to dinner. I was dying for a Chinese chicken soup but the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed, so I searched on Google and ended up at this Thai restaurant. as we walked into this small place it made a good impression. the place is very clean / no rubbish on the floor and the tables were well kept . there were people eating and seemed enjoying their meal. I immediately liked the ambiance . the menu was what I expected in a Thai restaurant. I ordered chicken satay and a hot and sour chicken w/coconut milk and veggie soup. my hubby ordered garlic chicken and broccoli stir fry. my food was delicious , reminded me of Thai food I had in the San Francisco Bay Area ( those were the best Asian restaurants).price is reasonable and service was great . my birthday craving was satisfied. Oh my word, this was the best Thai food I've had in years. What actually attracted me to try this place was the negative reviews saying everything was too hot. I went and ordered a Thai hot green curry with tofu. The owner eventually convinced me to go down to just 4 stars because "just because you've had 12 stars somewhere else doesn't mean you can handle 5 stars here." I LOVE Thai food. I lived in Chiangmai for 5 years & there are very few dishes I haven't had. Food from different regions are often prepared a bit differently, I understand this. And most of my meals were prepared in northern Thailand. I've eaten at Kinnaree three times. Each time I tried a different dish. I can't recall what I ordered, all were that unmemorable. Now I see that many guests are happy with their food. Perhaps the owner/chef comes from BKK or Isan. Perhaps their style of cooking is simply different from what I prefer. Listen, i'm not religious but Dear God this place is IT. we come from california and have a high standard for taste, and for whatever reason it seems like this is the first place in the US that got Thai Spice right.
