My oldest son made sure we stopped at this bookstore in Seattle before heading home to Nevada. The bookstore is located inside a large grocery store. The store itself was two stories. Everything was easy to find and nicely maintained. The staff were friendly. My son picked up a couple of posters and books. I would say the much sought after items were fairly priced.

A bit different from its NYC counterpart as it's located within a food market with a Seattle tax price point. Drinks are not allowed in the store and guests must park their drinks by the front. The first floor is full of books and studio ghibli inspired gifts. The second floor had a lot of manga and life sized decorations of some manga characters. Definitely a fun area for books and manga enthusiasts. We were able to see the Pochacco Seattle themed items here! There are also Miffy themed items, too.

Kinokuniya is such a welcoming and cute place. I have been here on and off since I was 14. Im 30 now. It's one of the only places I know to get good manga and other cute nicknacks. Prices are fair. Not super cheap but Seattle is pricey so they deserve it. Service has always been fast and the workers have always been nice. Worth a visit!

Are there really larger Kinokuniya Bookstores out there in th US? This one is the largest that I've ever visited even though it's inside the Uwajimaya grocery store. There are two floors and a wide selection of merchandise. They had a really large selection of art supplies including the beautiful Blackwing pencils - which they let you test out at the back of the store at the counter & now I'm hooked. There was also a good amount of fun and interesting items on the sale rack. I wanted to give a shout out, kudos, and applaud the bravery for the store clerk who calmly checked the bag and caught a shoplifter trying to run off with a yellow notebook. You never know what people may do nowadays so this young man just doing more than his job should entail just deserves props ... and really people don't steal, it's not worth it and if we want nice stores to stay in business, so pay for stuff you want!

Amazing Japanese bookstore inside Uwajimaya. So many great books and novelty items at reasonable prices with friendly staff. They have two floors, so be sure to take a bit of time to check the entire store out. Also for frequent customers, there is a membership club with discounts.

This place is SO CUTE! They had so much Studio Ghibli stuff (actually from Japan, not the stuff you see at Box Lunch). The prices are a tiny bit high, but definitely worth it in my opinion considering where the items are from. They also have a ton of blind bags and plushies of all different characters. Their Snoopy section was a little limited and they didn't have any Sylvanian Family. The anime section is huge and have books, figurines, etc. My partner was looking for Shangri La Frontier merch, but they didn't have any. I would definitely come here again!

We always stop in a Kinokuniya where ever we are. We have one that is located in the Bay Area where we live but always stop in as you never know if you'll find something that you haven't seen in the Bay Area location. My son always purchases the model kits and picked up a few for his next project. It's a good store that has a load of books and stuffies.

Love the selection here! Lots to see and wish I had enough money to buy. Everything was quite expensive.

Ask the Community - Kinokuniya Bookstore - Seattle

Where is the best place to park?

Right in the Uwjimaya parking lot as it's located inside this grocery store and you can get parking validated if you spend a certain amount depending on how long you plan to stay but it's really easy to hit that limit.

Are the books cheaper than barnes and noble? specifically the manga?

No, they will be the same, or slightly higher, due to import fees.

Do they have manga in English?

    Yes, tons of it!

Hello! is there any k-pop albums/posters? i'm currently looking but have not found much. please let me know if there is! thanks:)

Hi! Please contact Kinokuniya Seattle directly: https://usa.kinokuniya.com/stores-kinokuniya-seattle

Is this still in Uwajimaya? I haven't seen it since the remodel this past year.

    Yes it is!

Do they have kpop albums and posters?

Hi there, I haven't noticed any - however, they are very responsive on Facebook - I'd message them or just give them a call! I wouldn't be surprised if they have it but they do definitely favor Japanese pop culture.

    Do they have LOONA albums/posters?

yes. their albums are pricey though :)

This is the first review I have ever posted to yelp--that is how happy I am with the service provided by the staff of this establishment. Searching for the elusive "Jewish Wisdom Ball" as a humorous gift for my 92 year-old father (who fortunately needs nothing), it was out of stock everywhere, until it showed up on the gift shop website, on sale no less. I placed my order and crossed my fingers. Within 48 hours I received a cheery message wishing me a "Happy Hanukkah", confirming shipping and actually apologizing for not having mailed it faster in the midst of the busy holiday season! I have since had occasion to contact them again and they are always prompt, professional and courteous. The gift shop is in Seattle while I live in Illinois, yet they treat me as though I am an old friend or longtime congregation member who has been walking through their doors often over the years. Based on this positive experience I intend to continue to support them with future purchases where appropriate. They are the sort of people we need more of in the world today and I can't thank them enough for the manner in which they do their jobs.

The sprawling, multi-level marketplace dates back to 1907 and remains one of the oldest, continually operating farmers markets in America. It's narrow arcades are home to dozens of stalls selling everything from candy and cannolis to flowers and jewelry. The main attraction, of course, is the fresh seafood, which arrives every morning from boats trolling nearby Puget Sound. At peak hours, hundreds of tourists crowd around the Pike Place Fish Market, near Pike Place's main entrance, to watch fishmongers toss Salmon, Halibut, Cod and other customer selections from the market floor to the sales counter to be filleted and wrapped. Onlookers clap and cheer as the fish fly through the air, while the mongers politely remind the crowd that they're operating a working seafood market, not a circus. When you're done watching dudes toss fish, take some an hour or two to explore the rest of this massive marketplace. Pike Place has six levels of shops, restaurants, brewpubs and produce stalls across two large buildings that are bisected by a roomy pedestrian plaza with outdoor tables for enjoying a bite when the weather cooperates. The market gets oppressively crowded on weekends, so go early if you can. There are multiple parking decks at the complex and near the waterfront, but if Uber is an option, you'll save the stress of finding a spot. No visit to Seattle is complete without a visit to Pike Place Market. Plan on spending half a day here if you want the full experience, but I found a couple hours to be enough for me. While you're in the area, walk a couple blocks over to Seattle's fabulous waterfront and stroll the pedestrian plaza for some amazing views of Puget Sound. The city's new Overlook Walk pedestrian bridge lets you move between the two without crossing busy Alaskan Way, and makes this area of downtown an incredible destination for tourists and locals alike.

I kind of thought you could buy most essentials at the airport, but it turns out children's shoes are not a typical travel need, at least when they aren't being worn by traveling children. Fireworks did carry children's slippers, which caught my eye as I passed, as well as a nice assortment of unique, crafty toys and gifts. Unfortunately, my five-year-old followed me into the store and zeroed in on a tiny, colorful finger puppet in the shape of a parrot. He asked me to buy it for him, and I declined, telling him we weren't getting a souvenir before we even left the airport. He was upset by this to the point of tears, but I managed to get us out of there. We had a wonderful time in Seattle, and to his credit, the five-year-old behaved well the whole trip (and the two-year-old got new shoes). When I saw Fireworks Gallery again by our departure gate, I decided at the last possible second to stop in and get him the parrot. It was one of several Folkmanis finger puppets in a wire basket. I picked it up along with a bunny rabbit and went to check out. There was a short line at the register--I guess this shop gets decent traffic--and by the time I was up, my husband was calling to tell me we were boarding. This is how I paid $36.36 for two finger puppets that cost $10 apiece online. Fireworks got me good, but my boys do love their little puppets, which are soft and cute and well made. The wares here are definitely nicer and less generic than at your average airport store. It might cost you, though, if you wander in there with your kids.
