If you hate your child send him or her to this school. My son went to the elementary school Illuminar and the kids were rude and bullying each other. The staff would not bother with any corrective action. Also, a kid showed up with a knife and to campus and the school went on lock down but they kept that private, why do you think they have so much security. Even the teachers at Kipp Illuminar will warn parents not to send their child to Sol. There was a reason why the district almost didn't renew the school's charter status last year. read more

Truly upsetting to see the negative reviews and nothing has been done to resolve those issues. I hope those families have found a better school for their child and don't have to suffer anymore heartache. I've always worried about bullying because my child isn't too social and more reserved than anything. We were trying to enroll him to another KIPP academy near where we live and due to the long waitlist, my son was placed to the KIPP Sol Academy's waitlist instead since it was much shorter. I got a call to inform me that he had better chances to be offered a seat at Sol. I was fine with it until we almost reached the school year starting and I would e-mail and call this school for any more information. Nothing. One day, out of luck, they answered and they were very vague with their answers and didn't give me any piece of mind if my son was going to have a chance to be enrolled or not. I've emailed and it took a month to get a reply back and now the school year has started and my son is not enrolled. It led me to apply to other schools and now he's starting late just because of lack of professionalism and communication. We've already faced issues with this school and he hasn't even attended one day. I highly don't recommend and so many red flags I should've known better. Also I've had e-mails promoting this school and encouraging it to apply and making it seem like it's so great. I'm tired of their spam e-mails and it's upsetting to see them because it's a reminder how they don't care of new students trying to attend. read more

My daughter attended Kipp Sol while in the 5th through 8th grades. I write this review as a parent and school counselor at a different district. She had a wonderful experience and now as an 11th grader is thriving and is one of the top students in a very challenging High School. Kipp Sol did a great job prepping her for what is expected in High School. She gradiated from Kipp Sol in June of 2022. read more

My two kids went to Kipp Sol and the experience was very good because my kid's reading levels were low and once they started here it went up because of their programs they have and also help them find the right charter high school and they are still in contact with them even with my son that is college already. Worst KIPP ever! I've had my kids at several KIPP schools and had great experiences with the staff and learning environment. Sol is the worst. They're constantly short staffed, so many subs not qualified to teach, very little fun, field trips or social events for the kids. Only reason why I enrolled my daughter in this school was because she attended Kipp iLUMINAR since kinder and I thought it would be a great school. The parent teacher communications is non existent mediocre at that they don't have teachers for Spanish 8th grade the English teacher leaves for 2 months I found out from my daughter not because the school communicated this to me. A lot of bullying goes on in this school and it's not taken serious seems like last and only resort is for them to fight! Hey so I went to this school when it first opened after switching locations back in 2016 - 2019, TBH the school wasn't that bad starting as a 5th grader there yeah bullying was a problem but like any other school it was bound to happen. It wasn't even that bad compared to the stuff I am reading on these new reviews like god damn. When I was there by the time I reached 8th grade it actually was not that bad. All the kids in my grade at the time had all just gotten used to each other and yes kids had bad blood and problems with each other but at the time it was fun to go to school. The grades below us at that time were a different story though, it was like the younger the grade, the more troublesome and immature they were. The younger grades were always the ones getting detentions and suspensions, quite literally would be the only grades to have problems like that at times. I know that a lot of the staff have left and been replaced by other people, and I am very sure that the stupidity and immaturity that the 2020 quarantine did to all children that were in and supposed to go to middle school caused almost all the problems that I am reading about. These literal children basically staying at the same maturity level jumping from elementary up to middle school and middle school straight to highschool would make anyone's life a living hell if you had to deal with educating and even being educated alongside them. All the kids not having respect for the classroom, educators, and each other seemingly ruined the school years after it. Some of these reviews explain in a First person POV how it was to attend the school after quarantine, and it sounds like a literal sh*thole. I'm going to college now but I completely trust that what they say about vapes and fighting and all these horrible things is all true. If you are a parent thinking about enrolling your child into this school please take much precaution about all these problems being listed. Your child's mental health goes first before their education. The more "positive" reviews I see the more it upsets me. My child attended this school from 2019-2023 and it was the worst experince. All went well their first year but then the leadership changed. I was never able to get a hold of the "leaders" when I needed to speak to someone regarding my child's mental health and the issues at school with bullying. My child witnessed the same children being bullied several times and nothing ever being done. I had to follow up several times before hearing back. There were also times when inappropriate comments were made in front of my child as if they were a burden for coming in the office and letting someone know they were not feeling well. "Here we go again" when a child with KNOWN depression & anxiety comes in the office, is NOT the correct reponse. As a parent of a child who was suffering with their mental health, this only made it harder on my child and was very upsetting to me. They also misplaced important documents that my child returned to their office staff and when the documents were finally found, they tried to blame my child for still having the documents and my child was not even at school that day! You are telling me you counted my child as present when they was not even in class? My child did not feel safe or comfortable and hated every day they had to attend. Their attendance completely went down, and nobody even bothered to reach out for support. They also had constant subsitutes for most of my child's 8th grade year. It is my understanding that the same school leaders are still there now. I have another child ready to enter middle school and I will not even consider SOL. read more

KIPP: Sol feels like hell and prison combined. I cannot make up how much this school fucked up my life. I was never able to have a good social life here. I barely learned any shit that can help me in life. Staff and teachers don't give a shit and always eat McDonald's, while we have to eat dogshit food. Holy shit I can keep talking about this place. I've been a Kipp Parent for over 10 years. I highly recommend Kipp Raices and Kipp Innovation. As for Kipp Sol I do not recommend at all. My daughter has changed her first year in this school emotionally she is drained from constant bullying and bullying happening to other kids. She constantly talks about kids fighting. To many incidents with students bringing weapons to school. The biggest fail in this school is there commitment to education. My daughter in her first year in fifth grade had only one permanent teacher the school lead parent with lies about substitutes teachers filling in as they looked for permanent teachers dragging the whole school year with only filling Math for a couple of months because I just found out from my daughter this teacher quit. No confirmation has been sent to parents about this. My Daughter has also complained of having to much free time. Kipp Sol has made me feel like I have failed as a parent because I am responsible for her education and wellbeing. Please do your research and don't allow them to continue with there BS lies about teacher shortage. Protect your children and don't put them through psychological trauma. I cannot wait for this school year to be over. She will definitely not be returning. read more

My son revealed to me the reason he didn't want to go to school was because the kids at school would bully him and the teachers, present at the time, would not do anything about it. I called the school to set up a meeting and discuss what was going on. When I confronted the teachers with the fact that they were present at the time of the wrongdoing and chose not to do anything about it, they simply denied it and stated they could not do much about it as they would not be working there next year. As a mother, I feel like the school should not neglect bullying and stop the wrongdoing at the moment it happens before the situation progresses into something worse. Very irresponsible of the teachers and principal. I have now transferred my son to a different school hoping the teachers would be more transparent and preventative. read more

Please do not enroll your child here. They do not care. They do not teach students or help with their grades. Their teachers are gone most of the time and the staff is just horrible. They even make them wait to use restroom even if it is an emergency. This can cause infections and is just not okay. Many students are bullied and not given the help when they reach out. Overall this school is just horrible and does not help the kids. The teachers cant even handle 1 kid alone and are constantly calling in multiple other staff for help please do not enroll here. I went to this school in the fifth grade and it was the WORST school year i've ever experience, every morning when i wake up to go to school i would get anxiety because of how horrible the environment in that school is, the students are uneducated they don't respect teachers mainly the subs and temporarily teachers, it took me a long time to tell my parents that i was getting bullied because of the fear of them shaming me for being scared. The staff in this school mainly the principle, they wouldn't do anything when it came to bullying, drama, when my mom called, they didn't even make things better and literally just shrug it off saying they can't do much about it. Ever since i entered the fifth grade i developed anxiety and almost depression at the point there will be some times that i would beg my parents to not send me. it's also the fact the kids in my class. Theres also kids now getting involved with vapes prob even more further substances. Bullies bad teaching horrible place. I always begged to be homeschooled. I don't attend anymore and im glad. I absolutely don't recommend making your kids go here. Its a literal HELL HOLE. One of the teachers always told me that i was going to fail and never pass even though I had perfect grades in her class. Teachers were never motivational and they never paid attention to children when they were doing things very like bad.They would airplay really bad things on projectors and I've experienced boy pulling down their pants. This school has no discipline at all. A kid could literally punch a kid so many time "no recess for a day" like... i never recommend this school. Please enroll your child ANYWHERE ELSE.
