Very racist... Not surprised, I had my fair share of hatred through Brightwood Elementary School. The post below talks about a racist experience at Alhambra High School, that's sickening! Can't put it any more simple than that. If you have Instagram and you to this page, other student come forward on her behavior. Let me tell you about the one incident that happened to me out of the many. In 6th grade, I was in Ms. Goh's class. She hated me so much. I was a very quiet and shy girl, always have been, and she purposely even put a colorful autobiography I did on the wall all the wall to the bottom almost touching the floor. I feared and was almost sick to my stomach on the day of my birthday. I begged and pleaded to not go to school the next day (Monday), because for once I was happy and didn't have to see her. One winter break party we had, we all got together to celebrate with the other 6th grade classrooms. I accidentally left my gifts in her class as they rearranged everything in the classroom to set up for the food and activities. So by the end of the day I said well maybe when I come back I can get them. That was a living hell. She passes out exams when we come back from the holidays and waits to give me mine last, of course in front of the whole class. Before that she hands me a big bag and in it where my gifts I left behind. She smiled and said that's a lot of gifts you got there. I smiled back thinking she was being friendly. Then she proceeds to tell the whole class I don't deserve them and that I got an F in the class. She kept scolding me and I cried for the first time in class. I was beyond devastated, emotional, and so I asked to go to the restroom and cried in there. I couldn't believe it. In kindergarten, I was shy of course, and my summer school teacher wouldn't let me go to recess because I wouldn't talk. I remember sitting there on the floor crying as I pointed outside the door to go play as everyone was outside. She never let me go out and play as a result. At Mark Keppel High School, I once went to pick up transcripts. I hated the lady who handed them out because she wasn't a nice person. She would be nice only to people she liked. Well, a mom and her freshman son came to ask a question. I know how this feels. Not everyone transitions into high school easily. I was one of them. So the mom, in broken English tried to ask this lady a question, but instead the mean lady told her in a sarcastic tone she couldn't understand her and that the son needs to speak up. First, that may be true, but no need to downgrade the mom, besides, it never occurred to the mean lady that what if the son had Aspergers you know. You just don't know. I felt awful seeing her get treated that way. Also in High School, I had a guidance counselor named Ms. Elizabeth Seztak, hated her with a passion for not respecting me. I never once was mean, in fact I was the respectful reserved one. On getting help to fill out college applications she had the nerve to ask me if I was sure about my ethnicity. Are you serious?! I know what I am. She had me read out loud the entire list and even surprisingly gasped at how much my parents earned on the income section. How unprofessional and stupid.

The school has gotten better over the years. Decent public school. Good experience so far.

Just aware you don't get a lot of help like middle school, you on you own, due to the school size. Counselor isn't that helpful.

We were moved from the old C,D,E,F bungalows to the "new" bungalow where the baseball field is today, I spent senior year in the fresh new buildings....

I don't think Northrup is a perfect school but I think it's good enough for many kids to attend to…read morethis school. Am currently a 6th grade about to be in 7th and low-key it was the best school year, my other years were great but this year HANDS DOWN. I think all the teachers there are cool but my favorite teachers are Mrs. Delamater and Mrs. Mendoza. All of those one star reviews are NOT TRUE they are just being dramatic from the past but the only thing that's true is that there is lots of playground drama and sometimes the teachers can be a little over dramatic. The food is Nice but sometimes not great, one thing I hate them from doing is removing chocolate milk from our school like Who the heck does that an they be buying low-fat stuff for use, like is you pretending like we don't need fat in our system. Over-all I think THIS SCHOOL IS THE BEST LIKE IT'S AMAZING TRUST ME but if not this school go to Marguerita elementary its a good school to. BUT NOT BETTER THAN OURS SEND UR KID TO THIS SCHOOL. ITS THE BEST

Very Concerned Parent Here…read more I usually don't leave public reviews for schools, but after MONTHS of watching what's going on at Northrup Elementary, I simply can't stay silent anymore. Let me begin by saying: I care deeply about my child's education. That's why I'm shocked -- and honestly appalled -- at the lack of structure, communication, and basic professionalism happening here. First of all, the front office? A disaster. I called to report my daughter's absence and got transferred three times -- just to be told, "We already marked her absent." Wow, thank you so much for that stellar customer service. Second: the pickup line. If you know, you know. It's pure chaos. No cones. No staff direction. Just cars cutting each other off while fifth graders dodge traffic like it's Frogger. I guess safety isn't a priority?? Third -- and this one really makes my blood boil -- my child came home last week saying they "ran out of milk" at lunch. Excuse me? How do you "run out" of milk at an elementary school? This isn't a food truck. There are literally 300 growing children who need calcium, and y'all can't stock a fridge? Don't even get me started on the playground drama. The teachers barely supervise recess, and somehow my daughter got "accidentally" pushed twice in one week. I've emailed. I've messaged on ParentSquare. Radio silence. If no one responds again, I will be showing up in person -- and I'm not bringing Starbucks this time. Look, I'm not trying to be that mom, but Northrup seriously needs to reevaluate its priorities. My tax dollars are going somewhere -- and it clearly isn't toward functioning communication, warm meals, or basic supervision. Sincerely, A very concerned (and slightly done) mom.
