Visiting from U.S and we were looking for Persian food. So happy we found Kish Restaurant. Hands down the most amazing Persian food. So fresh and so authentic. Some people in our group had the koobideh kabob and it was the most amazing and delicious thing ever. I personally had the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi. It was to die for. Sooo good. They also have really pretty and cool green tea drinks. Our waiter (Meysam) was great and service was great too. Next time we come back to London Kish Restaurant will be our first stop! read more

I would have given this place a 5 star because of the food, but the dishonesty of the waitress changed everything... The food was really good! The taste was great , and seemed to be of a high quality as well. I was very happy with the portion of the plates as well (I like big portions), and I really enjoyed the freshly baked lavash bread which is made right moments before it's served. The service was good as well, but the problem occurred at the very end of the visit when we were trying to figure out the bill. This place charges a 12.5% "service charge" which now I know is considered as tip. Not being from this country, we were not familiar with the tipping costumes and tax policies, so we asked the waitress weather the 12.5% service charge was considered the tip or tax. Interestingly enough, the waitress looked us in the eye and with a supposed face, told us that it was just for the tax (in this country, tax is added in the price of the item and not added on the bill). We felt obligated to tip her again, and later we found out that the 12.5% is actually considered the tip and there is no need to tip at all unless one chooses to. This is just a review for the business owners of this place, to let them know that their honesty greatly matters in the satisfaction of their customers! read more

I've only ever had delivery but hot damn this is the best persian in town. I have tried everywhere - Colbeh, Mohsen, and all these other places I dont remember the names of because they're in an axis power language which i dont speak, but Kish is waaaaay better than the lot of them. Their baghali polo is as good as my own (or very likely better), their chicken is tender and juicy, as are all the lamb dishes, though they are likely better eat in than delivered. Staying down the road from this restaurant we decided to give it a try as I really love Persian food and it's not easy to find where I live in Florida. We were a goup of 6 on a Tuesday night at 8 and the place was quite full. This was a good sign. The menu is diverse with very good prices too. We chose an assortment of starters to share followed by 5 mains and then about 4 desserts. There is no liquor license so we hada tasty yogurt drink to accompany the food. Everything was very tasty and it was fun to try so many different things. All the meats were cooked very well with the chicken being very tender and lamb falling off the bone. The special Persian sorbet was a perfect ending to an excellent meal. Service couldn't have been better. A definite place to know in this neighborhood. read more

Nice staff. Great food. We had a huge kebab platter to share; was more than enough food for the four of us. We also got a couple tasty apps and some of the tandoori bread (love it; made fresh in the front of the restaurant). We also got a pitcher of Ayran (yummy sour/salty yogurt drink). Always a must visit when staying at the Marriott Maida Vale directly across the street. Never go wrong with the tabbouleh and boneless chicken skewer. Great marinade gives the white chicken breast meat great flavor. Comes with small salad and fluffy rice and grilled tomato on the plate. Cook their nan in the oven right in the front window. I like my nan fluffy and moist and chewy. Here it is a little too dry/crispy at times. Always very crowded so go early or expect a wait. read more

Visiting from Los angles decided to try kish one of the better restaurants when it comes to Persian food. The food was prepared well and the portions are big, but appetizer (starters) portions are extremely small not enough for even one person. Ghemah is Good the barg was my favorite dish, the kobedeh is lamb and lame, not big fan.The service is poor and disappointing and the knowledge of serving staff is poor and so is the communications skills and describing the different dishes. And in a city with some of the best restaurants I will not be paying a visit back to kish.the prices are inexpensive and they do add a service charge. read more

Amazing persian food. We came on a very busy night. However they were very accommodating and kind. They help set up a table outside for us very quickly. The service was excellent. Best Persian food I've had in London so far! The bread is made on premises the way it is in Iran, so that's always a bonus! You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The portions are huge! I recommend getting different plates and sharing with friends, or doing the mix grill. Starters are fabulous, my favorites are salad olivieh (chicken salad), kashk bademjan (aubergine purée), and mast moosir (yogurt with shallots). The mirza ghasemi is nice too (smoked Aubergine with egg). The tachin is nice too and huge portion. You can also order tadig with gheymeh on it which is nice (the crispy rice with split pea stew). I love Persian food and enjoy eating it when I travel or at home. Kish was a big disappointment. The dish that I ordered (kibbeh)was fatty and tasted bad and I couldn't eat it. I told the waiter the problem and he told me he could pack the kibbeh up and I could order something else but had to pay for both. I suggest that you don't frequent this restaurant. Some of the food is ok but the service was so horrific. Stay away. read more

Excellent Persian food. And take it from a Persian that grew up in Tehrangeles (Los Angeles, with arguably some of the best Persian food outside Iran in the world). Standout dish - khoreshte karafs (get it with tah-dig - crispy rice - as a starter) suggestion from the waitress and FANTASTIC like home made Soltani was great too, as was the kashke-bademjan and mast o moosir Also this place has fantastic variety. Even the Persian restaurants in LA don't have halim (more of a breakfast dish - sort of like oatmeal with turkey meat - sounds weird but really good and Persians often put cinnamon on it just like oatmeal), but they do. Mariam is also the best waitress with fantastic customer service. Great smile and gives you great recommendations. By the way - I am adding more to this review because we went a 2nd time during our 1 week trip. It will be the first restaurant I go to next time I come to London. read more

Kish was across the street from our hotel on a recent trip to London. My husband has eaten here several times when staying at the same hotel in the past and wanted to take us there (myself and our two kids). The waitstaff was friendly and the food was delicious. Kish is another local place I ignored for too long. I was there about a week ago and wanted just a little snack. The herbs omelette kind of starter I had was not really my thing, but the bread I had with it was very delicious. And I was overwhelmed by my main course. Lot's of juicy and tasty chicken with even more of delicious rice. So if you're after a not expensive but very good chicken dish in the area, take a look at Kish! Unfortunately, the coffee was underwhelming, but I don't mind that much, after the main was so good. I simply won't get a coffee the next time I go there. read more

According to one of the local London newspapers recently, 'Kish' in Kilburn was voted second-best takeaway restaurant in the whole of the UK. And after just one meal, I can see why!!! Let's cut to the chase here. The food is Persian, and is formatted into hot and cold starters, main courses, a separate special-mains, and some bits and bobs on the side, like bread, dessert and drinks etc. For the mains, the meats to choose from are as follows: Lamb, chicken, and fish. I've tried both the lamb and the chicken so far. With each main dish, you receive a huge tin tray, about 1sq foot in surface area, loaded with heaps of dry Pilau-styled rice, which is tainted with a golden-yellowy tinge that is of Saffron origin I believe. Buried beneath this pile, or squashed to one side, is a mamouth serving of the chosen meat (bearing in mind that these trays are supposedly meant to be one portion, i.e. for one person). For my chicken dish, I had chosen the 'Baby-chicken', which looked to me like at least two whole Baby-chickens, jointed, and splayed out all around the sides of the tray. I say 'two' Baby-chickens, because I don't think it was an eight-legged chicken. The chicken is also tinged with a golden colour, similar to how Tandoori Chicken is served in Indian restaurants, but it is not spicy; it's a much softer flavour, more smokey than spicy, allowing for the true taste of the chicken to glaze the mouth. It was very tasty indeed, if a bit fiddly due to it's miniature-sized proportions (they do a boneless version of this too). There are hints of lemon and some kind of piquant flavouring to the chicken, but it is not spicy-hot. For the lamb, I tried the 'Baby-lamb-fillet' and the 'Minced-lamb-skewers' which is essentially a Kofte style kebab. With the baby-lamb-fillet, the meat is cut quite thin, and is extremely lean and dry. There is still good flavour there, but the leaness and dryness of the meat, makes it more suitable for someone who is perhaps on the more self-concious side of things when monitoring their fat intake from cooked meats. Still nice, but a touch too thin and dry for my liking. It's not dry to the extent whereby you can't chew it easily, like beef jerky or something, but due to the way it's cut, the grilling obviously renders it far dryer than it would be if it was thick-cut. Still nice though, definitely one to try out. (They do combo-dishes so you can try it out with something else at the same time.) The lamb Kofte on the other hand, is the exact opposite, being saturated with a controlled rubbery juiciness, that just explodes in your mouth upon impact, and gets you chewing on it like there's just no tomorrow, so-much-so that by the end of the meal, your jaw muscles end up looking like those of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Packed with flavour, it is safe to say that this meaty blend is most definitely concocted in their own kitchen on a daily basis, I'm pretty sure of it. Being no stranger to home-made Kofte and the likes, I was quick to note that 'egg' had obviously been used in the meat-mixture. It's not the taste of the egg that gives it away, but the chewiness that it provides the texture with, that does. That's the secret; that's what the egg is put in there for. There are also herbs and spices embedded somewhere in there too; and the end result is a happiness-inducing feast of sumptuous savouryness that really hits the spot. Fantastic Kofte. Be careful though, because when lifting the lid on this particular dish, you will have the fright of your life, as the Koftes look like two giant centipedes who have just spent a little too much time in the sun. Also included in this tray of wholesomness, usually buried beneath the heaped pile of Pilau, is a whopping-great-big grilled tomato. As we all know, a lot of take-away restaurants of all ethnicities, tend to garnish their dishes with ornate, defunct salads etc, which are supposedly edible but are more for decoration than for anything else. Make no mistake, this Kish tomato is not for decorative purposes; it's most certainly included for consumption purposes. Being more of a meat person myself, I never thought I would actually see the day when I would admit that a tomato would be the highlight of my meal, until I met Kish that is. It's a fairly big tomato, about the size of a snookerball, and wholly grilled, with the char-lines on show, criss-crossing the skin here and there. The taste of this tomato is just out-of-this-world. It must be organic or something, specially sourced from some select producer. It's got like a fruit-juice sweetness to it? Perhaps the grilling does this to it? I've fried tomatoes myself in the frying-pan, but the taste is different. So I don't really know how this wonderful flavour comes about, but it's just divine; and automatically elevates what is already a healthy meal to start off with, to an even healthier 'vegi-included' status. Was in town staying at the Marriott opposite and wanted to grab something quickly for dinner. Ordered the #35 from the take-out menu. Service: The service from the start was very warm and inviting. The hostess offered me a table to sit at while I decided on my food. Once my order was placed, I was told there would be a 15 minute wait so I stepped outside as I had another errand to run. I returned about 30 minutes later and there was a little confusion about whether the food was ready but it did not take long before I was handed my order. I paid and left. Food: This was my first time having Persian food and I must say, I did not instantly fall in love. The chicken was cooked in a tomato stew which was good but neither my husband nor I enjoyed the rice at all. As a matter of fact, we did not eat any of the rice after our first taste so that was wasted. I was also disappointed with the quantity of chicken. For $10, which was also the most inexpensive Another disappointment for me was the lack of non-meat options on the menu. Price: From looking at the menu, most of the items were served with the saffron rice we got and they were all upwards of $12. The previous 2 nights we had eaten at a Thai restaurant close by and thoroughly enjoyed everything plus nothing was above $10 so in my opinion, the food at Kish is overpriced. This place is amazing! I ordered the chicken kebab and the rice. The rice was my favorite part, it was buttery, long, and overall the best rice I had ever tasted. For appetizers, we ordered the naan and the hummus. The naan was being made right near us, so it was very fresh and tasty. It's very similar to Indian naan, but a little thinner which went perfectly with the hummus side. The customer service was very good; the waiter kept asking us how the food was and kept refilling our water. The food was extremely delicious and has made me a huge fan of Persian food. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants of all time, and if I ever visit London again, I will be sure to come here again! read more

We brought guests to Kish for dinner a week back, having heard of it from friends. We were very pleasantly surprised, as having tried many of the Persian Restaurants in London during the past 40 years, we found that it was the best. The koobideh just melted in our mouths. The service was also excellent, by Majda (?). The only drawback is that it is a small place and when full, the noise of conversations from other tables is disturbing. Maybe it will be better in Summer, when we can be seated outside. read more

We had a superb dinner of the most delicious lamb chops my colleague & I have ever had. Naan was good, salad was tasty. Everything looked & tasted so fresh. Portions were large. The service was very friendly. After dinner, our server suggested a hot tea served in a wine glass, with a beautiful (real) flower that opened up at the bottom of the glass, during the steeping, so pretty! Visiting from Chandler, AZ and it was recommended to us by our hotel right across the street and we were not disappointed. A great selection of items from appetizers to main dishes Environment was clean and the aroma from the kitchen was awesome. Our server Marjan was very nice. She took the time to help us as it was our first visit. We had the Kuku Sabz and Adasi for starters, then for main meal had the Momtaz, Koobideh, Chelo Barg, and Ghormeh Sab. Please excuse the shortened dish names as I'm using my receipt to even come close to remembering the names of what we had. All was very good, with only the minced lamb not being as good as to have been expected, as I love lamb. Regardless, one of the best recommendations I can make is that our kids (14 and 17) thought the food was very good too. my freind and I after a couple of drinks fancy to go to a Persian restaurant , orderd a bottle of red win , with tybical and delicious Iranian stater such as crispy bread and fresh miexed sabzi cheese walnut , but as soon as we were enjoying this they suddenly brought main course without asking which surprised us .
