Excellent dinner here. We were tourists (two adults one rambunctious two year old) and based on what we'd read the place was family friendly. They didn't have a child's seat, so my son sat along the wall and bounced around all night. They were family friendly in that my toddler's whines and messiness did not appear to offend the waitstaff. THANK YOU! We ordered falafel and the Palestinian chicken samboussek. Both were excellent. My husband got the lamb and halloumi burger--massive portion size! He only ate half as it also came with fries. I ordered a variety of things to share with my son. When I ordered the lamb and chicken kafta, I don't realize they were plates and not just skewers. I ended up with two plates that had rice, salad, and meat. I would have preferred to have one of each skewer and one plate with rice and salad. My son loved the rice! He also really enjoyed the Palestinian chicken samboussek. I enjoyed everything we ordered. The food was prepared in under 20 minutes and the service was good. Great spot! Yalla Yalla serves up fantastic Lebanese cuisine in a cozy, hole-in-the-wall restaurant in busy Soho. It has a family-run feel, and our table was right next to the kitchen counter. The food is delicious, and I'd recommend the village mezze platter the most--it comes with a ton of variety for a good value. The grilled halloumi with figs was also delectable and a nice mix of sweet syrup with savory halloumi. The lamb kofta was wonderful for something meaty. Awesome spot! The dishes were PACKED with flavor. My wife and I shared the hummus/pita and that was a great starter. As an aside--we are big water drinkers, so the fact that they put mint and lemon in their water was a very nice touch. We both ended up ordering the chicken shawarma (picture attached) and boy was it amazing. We definitely left full but in the greatest way possible. The garlic and chili sauces that they provide are excellent additions to the meal. The atmosphere is very unique and just an fyi, the bathrooms are hard to access if you're not ok with crouching down and climbing down steep stairs. The only downside to me were the prices were a little bit higher than expected for entrees but like I said, you leave very full, so you get what you pay for as far as that goes. Such a cute little hole in the wall restaurant. This is a great place to stop by for lunch or dinner that doesn't break the bank. We arrived here at 8pm on a Monday night and were seated immediately. After ordering, it took quite a while to get our food to the table but it seemed like only 2 people ran the store. A salad and bread are given to everyone as a starter. The salad is refreshing and light, featuring mint and cucumbers and a light balsamic. It's a great way to start off the meal. We ordered a fish, a lamb, and a chicken plate. Each came with rice, bread, and pickled vegetables. Everything was delicious! The chicken was definitely my favorite. You can tell how freshly made everything is and how good the produce they use is. In a courtyard full of choices, Yalla Yalla does not make the cut. Today ordered a salad. The lettuce was wilted and yellow. It was uneatable. When I went back to return it, they refused to give me my money back. According to the lady behind the counter, I had eaten some. Yes I ate two olives, some feta cheese, and the tomato. The kibbeh was dry and they don't offer any sauces. Terrible customer service for a salad that needed to be thrown out. read more

I've been to Yalla Yalla ever since they opened in late 2008. I loved the food from the beginning and I also liked the coziness that this place radiates. My favourites are mixed mezze plates for lunch, their falafels, the chicken shawarma wrap (with garlic & chilli sauces)...and an absolute staple is their apple/mint/ginger lemonade. Unlike in the beginning, it is now practically impossible to simply show up at Yalla Yalla and expect to find a seat. What I've resorted doing is to take said items to go and sit down at the nearby Soho Square instead. There's one pet-peeve I have with this place: their staff rarely smiles and seems always stressed and overworked...if it weren't for the delicious treats I get here, I wouldn't have the urge to come back here that often. read more

We were disappointed to find that the Yalla Yalla that we loved in its tiny shop off Brewer Street had closed. We went to their new, much larger and comfortable, restaurant near Oxford Circus but, when we opened the menu, found that it had been taken over by Le Comptoir - where we had eaten the day before. Not crazy expensive given London prices but just a touch overpriced if you think about it (coming from an American standpoint where you'd get a whole falafel wrap with hummus for $6). Also had their slow cooked lamb main which came with rice which was okay but not the best so I wouldn't recommend it. They have special lunch wraps which I think are a good deal and they have a card so if you get like 9 or something, you'll get a free one. read more

People get turned away, so make a reservation or go early. Beirut Street Food? What? I randomly walked by this place recently when it was closed on a bank holiday and had to go back to check out the food. I'm happy to report that this tiny hidden gem on Green's Court in Soho is fantastic! It's a small sit down cafe with cute wooden tables and pillows made out of middle eastern scarves turned hipster fashion signature turned cafe decoration. They've got a counter filled with seriously droolworthy snacks and desserts, from multiple kinds of baklava to a selection of meat, spinach, or cheese pastries, to some incredible looking tarts like fig, apple cinnamon, and rosemary. Then they've got a kitchen hidden somewhere that turns out fabulous hot dishes at great prices. We sat right next to the counter, where the smell of the desserts was overwhelmingly delicious. I think i basically stuck my face in them to inhale the scent, so my apologies if you get a nose print in your pastry next time. We ordered a bunch of different things whose names I can't remember - a really fresh, lemony, zesty salad of greens and crunchy pita chips , a spinach pastry, a kibbe appetizer of small chunks of lamb, and a fantastic slow cooked lamb casserole with rice where you could cut the meat with a fork. Yum. I also had a big pot of mint tea and they brought ample warmed pitas to dip in the olive oil they have bottled on every table. We chatted with the owners, who let me try a baklava for free. They just opened and will hopefully soon have a liquor license as well as tables outside. They're super nice and the food is fantastic. I will definitely be going back soon to try everything else on the menu. Best of all, we were stuffed with the four dishes and the grand total was under 20 pounds. Tucked away on a wee back road on the seediest of Soho streets, this humble shop serves up some of the tastiest Beirut street food I've ever had the pleasure of noshing down. Be prepared to have people standing over you as they wait for a table. And be prepared for a blast of icy wind every time the door opens! Service is friendly although hurried. Food is quite good. Tiny restaurant, huge amount of love for it! This is lebanese food done right. Tucked away in a little street in Soho, the place is small but cozy and bright. I have enjoyed rainy afternoons in here and no matter how crowded it gets and how difficult to squeeze between the tables, the atmosphere is always friendly and the decor is cute. There have been times so busy that newcomers just make the rounds and hover near crowded tables in the hopes that you and your coat and bag will evacuate the tiny table and give them somewhere to sit and I don't blame them, the place really is great. The food is inexpensive and delicious!! It's the perfect place to order lots of small dishes to share with a friend and just have a good time. I like to get a lot of little dishes to share and one main. There are lots of great small dishes on the menu, from the standard hummus, which is decent, to my favourites the yummy kibbe lahme (minced lamb and wheat) and the delicious arayes (pita bread with minced lamb). The tabbouleh is not to my taste because it has more onions than I like but others might not mind.They also serve soujoc, a lebanese sausage that I like and don't find everywhere, but this one is just passable and I wasn't a big fan. The rest of the food more than makes up for it though. My favorite mains are the classic chicken shawarma and the slow cooked lamb casserole is very tender and fantastic too and I recommend it wholeheartedly. A trip here for me is never complete without a pot of perfect mint tea to share and chat over. This place is a gem and I never mind the crush in here because I'm so happy with everything that is on my tiny table:) Get here early if you can though! read more

Yalla Yalla has had raving reviews, and the consistent line outside the door of their tiny shop is testament to how popular it is. My family and I waited an hour and a half, so I highly recommend you make reservations or come at non-peak hours! For starters, we had the baba ghanouj, spicy potatoes, and the deep fried seafood plate. The baba ghanouj had an amazing charcoal flavor, which was elevated by the pomegranate seeds, lemon, and mint leaves. We sopped up every last bit of the dip with the warm pita bread, and was still craving more! The spicy potatoes reminded me of breakfast potatoes in the US, but I did like how crispy they were without being greasy. They also had a delicious spicy seasoning that made it unique. The seafood plate is also a great deal, with calamari, shrimp, smelt, and eggplant that had a light fry on it. I loved that it was paired with a yogurt dip that cut the grease and heaviness of a deep-fried dish. Next, I had the chicken shawarma, which was a little disappointing. The chicken was a little dry and salty enough to keep me chugging water for hours after the meal. I loved the basmati rice though, which was fragrant and fluffy. My brother had the shish taouk, which was marinated chicken breast cubes on a skewer. His meat looked much more tender and well-cooked than mine, so if you're looking for a chicken dish I recommend this one instead! My parents both had the sea bass, but were doubtful about whether the fish really was sea bass. It was lightly pan-fried, then covered with a delicious tomato sauce. Great tasting food that won't cost you an arm and a leg. It's not necessarily cheap though either. I'm a fan of the chicken shawarma, hummus, and baba ghannouj. That's enough food for two people to share. I've also gone the route of ordering two mains and sharing a starter. The place is located in a smaller walk way, just off a busy Soho street. I've seen DeliverRoo folks grab food from here, so I assume they do delivery. It sometimes get crowded, so you may have to wait for tables to clear. FRIGGING UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIRS/STOOLS. I popped to Yalla Yalla for lunch last Thursday: the room is extremely small and it's more of take-out place I'd say, even though they managed to squeeze in a handful of tables. Ours was right in front of the door, which was for some reason kept open with a stool. We sat down and I had no space whatsoever where to put my coat and handbag (I don't mind leaving my stuff on the floor but...there's no space on the floor. And it being a stool I couldn't hang anything on the back of a chair either). Particularly peeved at how uncomfortable it was. That said, the food was really nice. My friend ordered a wrap and I had lamb cutlets with an aubergine and pomegranate sort of salsa. I couldn't spot any aubergine in there, but the lamb was very very nice nonetheless. I could have eaten double that. It was also a bit difficult to get the staff's attention, which is weird considering how small the place is, and our table was nearly in front of the counter where people queue to order/pay. I think one of the tables against the wall would have made for a better experience, but alas we didn't get one. So I'll have to leave it at that. read more

On my first visit to London, I managed to go to Yalla Yalla 2 nights in a row. I really couldn't get enough. I grew up and lived in an area with AMAZING middle eastern food, and Yalla Yalla really hit the spot for my cravings. Fresh hummous, delicious pitas. Recommend the arayes (pita bread stuffed with minced lamb) and kibbe lahme (deep fried lamb and cracked wheat parcels filled with onions confit, minced meat and roasted pine nuts). It's small. It's cramped. It's uncomfortable. The service is scatty. But you'll forgive it all that for the excellent food in cute surroundings slap bang in the middle of soho. The arayes was probably may fave of all the mezzas. Crispy and sweet with flavorful lamb and pine nuts - yummy (there I go again). The raw kibbi was served with a lot of marinated onions and parsley. I've usually had it served with just raw onion. While good, I found it to be slightly underflavored. The chicken sharwma was very tasty. The lamb was good, but I found it slightly cooked to much for me (it was medium). Overall, even though this place is small, it has an intimate feel and the food overall was very good. It's eh at best...we went for a late lunch and despite having an extensive wrap menu, we were told that they didn't have any. For starters, we shared hummus, babaganoush, and falafel. The babaganoush was not smoky enough for my taste and the complimentary pita was straight from a bag and chewy. For our mains, we got the chicken kebab and a chicken/lamb mixed kebab plate. While the chicken was tender, it was nothing particular special. Probably any other place it would be fine but the competition for this kind of cuisine in London is pretty stiff, hence the three stars. read more

I'd like to say that with my Jewish roots I genetically have the last-bubs that can identify a decent falafel. Yalla Yalla does some decent falafel! Actually all of the dishes Larissa and I ordered were pretty yummy. A little greasy (but what do you expect from street food) yet yummy. We decided to go here as it was rated so highly on Yelp, and yes I agree with the others but I'm a harsh marker. It's also hidden between the not so secret sex shops of Soho, making it a somewhat intimidating search for non locals, this actually plays to it's advantage, making it a hidden hot pot for a great lunch out. We had the tapas style dishes but I have to say, there was a tasty looking selection of wraps and juices up for grabs too. read more

Beirut may probably be the most exotic food origin in London. Blink and you could miss this place. It's located on a small side street off the main drag of Brewer Street. While the side street is located in a 'colourful' area of Soho, Yalla Yalla is pleasantly decorated and warm inside. The menu is typically Middle Eastern. I didn't spot anything advertised as being specifically from Beirut. However, the zingy salads and meat stews are packed with flavour. If your have a sweet tooth, the baklava looked moreish. Great place to eat if you're a vegetarian or as in my case, a friend who's a vegetarian. That way i didn't have to compromise with a strictly veggie place and order myself a nice Meshoue. He was happy with his falafel, I was happy with my lamb skewers and we both went out quite full. The place is pretty small and cosy and you will definitely have to hear what other people have to say to their comrades. Well, we went for the feast and weren't exactly sharing nuclear secrets so we didn't mind the close seating. I have better things to be doing with my time than queuing for dinner, especially when you have to wait right there, and can't pop around the corner for a pint. Here's a little secret, though. Skip the line, walk 5 minutes north across Oxford Street, and go to the Yalla Yalla in Fitzrovia. Same amazing food, bigger kitchen, and bigger tables in a bigger yet still cozy space. What a great first experience with lebanese food - absolutely delicious. I had hinted of being extremely hungry and therefore we came here. It was a Wednesday night and arriving at 8:30 we were seated about ten til 9. In two we got 4 mezze (baba ghannouj, falafel, fattoush, and manaee'sh cheese) and one main (mixed grill) - all to share. We got one mezze too many (wasn't a big fan of the fattoush - personal taste). Everything was so fresh and tasty - my favorites were definitely the baba ghannouj and manaee'sh cheese. This location is quite small and doesn't take reservations - so a slight wait should be expected - but it is well worth it! read more

I was expecting a lot from Yalla Yalla given the write-ups here but left slightly disappointed. The thing that struck me most about their Soho branch was its small size. This meant that every available counter space was occupied with food or utensils and forced the staff to make their way around the branch in a strange balletic routine requiring them to interact in some way with whatever they were moving past at that moment e.g. squeezing round the counter, moving something out the way, taking something further along in its preparation, take order etc. I ordered a Lamb Shawarma and a freshly squeezed orange juice for takeaway. The orange juice was pretty decent, but the Shawarma seemed rather ordinary. Then there was the price - I didn't get much change from a tenner, which surprised me somewhat for takeaway food (while accepting that freshly squeezed orange juice is pretty pricey whenever you get it). However, the customers eating in seemed content and the food they had looked pretty appetising. So I'll definitely be back to try the eat-in experience and may revise my rating then. read more

I've been here twice now, and I'd say it's a solid 3.5. I'm bumping it up to a 4 because the second visit was much improved on the first. First off, the location is great, and this smaller branch of what is now a 2-restaurant 'mini-chain' is definitely cute and charming. Unfortunately, they don't take bookings, which means you inevitably have to wait. On our most recent visit, the food was very good- the hummus and baba ganoush were especially tasty, as was the moussaka. I was sort of disappointed by the tabbouleh, which was light on the bulgar wheat and heavy on the vinegar. Our server was super friendly and attentive despite the place being crammed as it always is. I think the prices here are fair, but it's not an exceptionally great deal. Definitely a solid choice for Lebanese in the area, provided you are willing to wait for your table. read more
