It's been quite some time since I had a haircut...and we are talking about years, plus quarantine, break ups, YouTube tutorials. I came in looking like a fresh poodle. The salon itself was absolutely lovely and welcoming. They were busy, but it was comfy inside. The receptionist was welcoming and engaging, I felt like I'd been there before. It was also a HUGE plus to be able to book an appointment online. Putting down half the deposit to make the appointment was no big deal! So then I met Margaret, who has incredible skills for all of us who think there's no saving our hair. I flashed a couple of pictures as "ideas" figuring it would be good to show her I wanted something "close" -- but she took me from roadkill to bombshell in an hour. I had a serious glow up in a short amount of time. I'm officially a customer for life and will absolutely be back to see Margaret! read more

I started going here in Sept 2021 and have been coming here every three weeks to let Morgan ( who is fabulous!) work her magic on my hair. She is interactive and engaging and allows me to give her my thoughts on my hair. She is always willing to make changes for the best outcome. I found this place by reading the reviews on Google and yelp. I hardly ever cut my hair as I usually like it very long, but it was obvious that it was time for a cut since my hair was incredibly dry and dead. I booked with Al (Albert), who was incredibly sweet and did an amazing job! I usually just get a trim, but decided to go shorter because I had left over blonde that I wanted out. He made sure I was okay with going as short as it was and even gave me some layers to help add some bounce to my normally flat hair. I usually come out hating my hair when I cut it short, but I absolutely loved it! He even washed and styled my hair with some curls all for an amazing price. I highly recommend booking with Al, he works with you 100% and it'll look great. I'll definitely be back when it's time to make my yearly chop. (: read more

The salon is beautiful, full of plants and natural light. My stylist was very friendly, very talkative. I really like the cut she gave me, but after I went home, I noticed some locks were uneven. After I washed it the next day, it was even more obvious. I went back and another stylist offered to fix it immediately, I was very thankful. You need to make an appointment online and pay a deposit, it's very easy to use. Parking on the street is not easy on a snowy day, try parking around the block instead. read more

During my first appt for a haircut I expressed dissatisfaction with my current hair color. I asked Kristen her recommendations for what route to go with my hair and she lead me in the direction of strawberry blonde. I've now been in three times to get my hair dyed by Kristen and every time I leave satisfied knowing I love my hair. Couldn't recommend this salon enough! read more

Kismet is an awesome Aveda salon near downtown right on East Washington. The salon specializes in hair color, cuts and also offers up-do's for weddings or other special events. The salon also offers walk ins. My stylist Brittney (of 10+ years) does amazing work. I am one of those clients that always changes colors and cuts and she never fails me :) The salon itself has a very cool, earthy, industrial vibe with unique personal touches. read more

I can't say enough to fully communicate the wonderful experience I had here today. Brittney fully explained everything she was doing. I wasn't expected to be an expert. She even gave me a few tips for curling my new do myself. The overall vibe made me feel like I was part of the family. Everyone was so friendly with the customers and each other. There is a wedding coming up this weekend that they will be doing hair and makeup for. They were gushing about all the new products they have and how excited they were, but I also never felt like I wasn't the focus of their attention. Alert the press! This place opened in March and why I haven't heard of it until this week is unforgivable. I had a haircut that left me feeling like Blake Lively the rest of the day! Cute waiting area complete with sleek seating and rows upon rows of Aveda products. Adjustable wash basins are super gentle on the neck during shampoo. Staff is so friendly, you basically have a best friend as soon as you walk in! Upon arrival you're offered water, coffee, or tea. After brief chat about plan/reason for visit your seduced by a mind blowing head, neck, and shoulder massage, followed by shampoo then hand massage. Say what?! All this glorious spa like treatment for the same price as other salons (which for me hovers around $50, but I'd rather spend my $50 here; somewhere where I get tantalizing massages and a relaxing beverage)! read more

I live in the area and took a chance at trying this new salon. Kristen was my stylist and she was great! I came into my appointment unsure of what I wanted to do; she listened well as I explained my concerns and wants and then had some great recommendations. We wound up cutting over 6 inches for a cute modern bob style, and I have gotten so many compliments! She was totally right; my thin hair looks much thicker and healthier shorter. She offered recommendations of Aveda products to try, but I never felt pressured to buy anything. She even gave me a sample shampoo/conditioner product to try out. Was very underwhelmed with my experience here. My stylist didn't listen to what I wanted and cut my hair shorter than I asked. My face framings were uneven, poorly blended into the rest of my hair, and a lot shorter than I asked for. I thought I made myself very clear with what I wanted so I was disappointed with the result, especially considering this is an Aveda Salon. Will not be returning. read more

Fabulous! I just left Madison but was very happy with Tracy's cuts and colors while I was there. She was also kind enough to send me on my way with my formula which was hugely helpful to the next stylist. A lot of stylists apparently think of a client's formula as their intellectual property so I'm very grateful she was willing to share it - nay, even suggested it - to eliminate one of the hassles of moving out-of-state. read more

I made an appt a few weeks ago and 1.5 hours before my appt, someone called to cancel. I understand emergencies occur but she wasn't apologetic and tried to get me to see a more junior stylist even though my appt was with a senior stylist. When I asked for my deposit back (you have to pay 50% to make an appt), she didn't seem to want to give me the money back. It was very odd but I definitely won't be making another appt. I had also forgotten to schedule an eyebrow wax, and she was able to fit me in while my hair processed! I took a chance coming here after an online search even though I'd never been before because I wanted to schedule a hair appointment the very next day and one happened to be available at Kismet Salon with Tracy. I'm glad I took a chance on a new place because Tracy seemed to know exactly what I wanted in spite of my inability to adequately explain it, and I ended up feeling very pleased with the results. I had my hair trimmed and touched up the roots of my balayage while going lighter on the blonde. She also recommended an Aveda product I ended up purchasing, but I didn't feel pressure to do so. I definitely recommend Tracy at Kismet, especially if you're someone like me who tends to feel a bit intimidated about knowing what to ask for. read more
