They are a solid choice when it comes to down-home, country cookin' with the typical flavors and menu options you'd expect from a small-town diner. Kissell's is a great place to eat, while a little cramped, it's well decorated, and the service is usually pretty attentive. Their BBQ is always delicious, my favorite is off menu, BBQ fries, but one menu, thier sides are all delicious, I could probably eat an entire potato salad and baked bean by myself. read more

Here is a classic but no-frills diner just off the historic town square in Ripley. No-frills means nothing fancy in the seating, the worn menu copies, and the overall vibe. But I would gladly return for the food. I love the southern places that offer both plate lunches and freshly prepared short orders. I went for the double cheeseburger and tots. We order from Kissell's Kitchen fairly often at my job, after someone recommended it to us, and now we are thoroughly hooked! The food is always hot and fresh, even after a short delivery distance, and the menu is VERY very reasonably priced (even for a cheapskate like myself)! You can't beat absolutely delicious food for a great value! I've sampled most of their "redneck egg rolls" and while my favorite was the "loaded bbq redneck egg roll" (it's like a full pulled pork BBQ plate in an egg roll! baked beans and all!) they were all fantastic and I will definitely order them again! The roast beef toaster sandwich and fried mushrooms are delicious as well. I have not yet been able to dine in person myself, but I'm told by many who have had the pleasure that the staff at Kissell's are delightful as well, and they have always given us *exactly* what we ordered, to a T. Let me tell y'all not this place. The food is killer! I had the smothered chicken and baked potato with cheese and I enjoyed every bit of it!!! Plenty of toppings and loaded with cheese!! This was so filling and I had enough left over for a midnight snack. My friend deeply enjoyed the loaded chicken fries! And she ordered some extra queso on the side for some additional cheesiness! I also ordered the Philly cheesesteak and cheese burger egg rolls Togo. Now the egg rolls are good my only suggestion to them would be at add more cheese and flavor the meats a little bit more and create or suggest a dipping sauce and it will be fire!!! I am out traveling on the road again. I get a chance to try out various cafes, diners and restaurants in small cities and big cities. I'm in Ripley Tennessee and I tried kissell's kitchen. I was excited to try their eggs benedict but I found that they didn't serve it. As a matter of fact no one in town does. I decided to have their standard breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised. Two eggs OE, bacon (crisp and dry), no toast (I opted for a biscuit) with a side of sausage gravy. $5.49 breakfast, small coffee $1.39, hash brown $2.29 and side of gravy $1.89. Everything was perfect. The bacon was crisp and dry, the eggs were over easy and the sausage and gravy was not too peppery. When in this part of tennessee, Ripley, I highly recommend you try out not only their breakfast but there are other barbecue and unusual items. Also try their redneck egg rolls. Welp, I ordered the chicken tenders (4 count) with fries. A friend of mine ordered a double bacon cheeseburger... I know... his sounds way better. We made it a to go order. Our wait felt like it took forever. There weren't any drinks given while we waited and no one checked on us anymore after we ordered. Once we seen our food come up, we were called to the counter for pickup. Our meal was 16 dollars. I gave the stars for clean appearance, very pleasant area/location, very old country feel. Now... my friend basically didn't get the burger he asked for. Ee already were home so he ate it anyways. I felt like my ranch was watered down and the fries had no taste to them. I guess I should have asked for seasoned fries. Overall, this is a small quiet nice town. I don't live in the area but I don't think this place gave me a reason to come back outside of seeing friends. The food didn't have much of a uniqueness to it. Kissell's offers a variety of food choices, and they also have daily specials. The prices are extremely reasonable. I usually order the burger and fries which never lets me down. The BBQ was good. Unfortunately, the vehicle I choose to deliver it was not. I ordered the BBQ nachos and there was way, way too much cheese sauce; BBQ doesn't have to swim in it. The redneck egg roll was pretty good but it was ordered as a appetizer and it didn't arrive until after the entree was finished. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. We were in town for a supplier visit and we came here for lunch. We were told by our friends that this BBQ was a top choice and that their recipe had won several contests. We ordered several appetizers while we waited for our food. We had the RedNeck Eggrolls which were stuffed with BBQ pork, slaw and beans. OMG! They were great!!! I only ate one as it was big... we had the hush puppies as well and were very good! The order came with 10 of them which was plenty for us. We also had the bologna which was ok for me. I ordered the small BBQ plate and our friends were more than right! The pork was delicious and very tender and tasty. The sauce was good as well. The plate came with sides of beans (very tasty as well!), cole slaw (loved it!), and fries. Service was good and the environment was of a local place, with guitars hanging on the walls for sale (yes, you can buy a guitar in case you need one!) The owners offered us a free sample of a new dish they were trying. I did not taste it as I was already full! I always get the half order of barbeque fries, which aren't on the menu but they're delicious, crinkle fries, perfect pulled pork, cheese sauce and barbecue sauce of your choice. I've got to hand it to Kissell's...they just (10/16/20) fed a hungry group of 12 with zero issues and did it with some AWESOME food. Several of us had the large pulled pork plate. Kissell staff will ask if you'd like regular bbq sauce or hot. I chose none because if the smoked meat doesn't stand on its one then sauce is just a cover up IMO. I was highly satisfied with the Smokey flavor of the butt. The sandwich was delicious and doesn't need a sauce at all. Our waitress was super, friendly, ready to joke around and very knowledgeable of the menu. A total joy. Between all of us we sampled quite a few entree's and appies. Everything from the ginormous bbq egg rolls to fried pickles and mushrooms. They all were great starters. The desert options were light, but it was the end of the day so perhaps the regular, homemade sweets were out. I didn't ask. I can say though, without hesitation, that I highly recommend Kissell's.
